Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Mr. Qin
Humiliated and furious, Xu Min pointed at Qin Tuo and Chen Man Ni and snitched to Secretary Gao.
"Secretary Gao, these two don’t have invitations either! They’re trying to sneak in. You should hurry up and throw them out!"
Secretary Gao glanced casually at Qin Tuo and his companion but didn’t say a word. He seemed disinclined to deal with a hysterical woman like Xu Min.
"Secretary Gao, hurry and throw them out!"
Xu Min grew frantic.
But Secretary Gao just waved his hand impatiently.
"Security! What are you standing around for? Get these people out of here!"
The guards flinched, then quickly put on stern faces and gestured for them to leave.
"Please leave, everyone. Don’t make things difficult for us."
Xu Min stomped her foot in fury. The sight of Qin Tuo’s mocking smirk was like a knife twisting in her heart.
"What are you still standing here for? Haven’t we been embarrassed enough?"
Zhao Tiancheng’s face was livid with rage.
As the Patriarch of the Zhao Family, he had lost all face today.
Watching the trio leave in a state of impotent rage, Chen Man Ni burst out laughing triumphantly.
"Haha, how satisfying! This young lady finally got to vent!"
Qin Tuo said smugly, a wide grin on his face:
"See? I told you that you wouldn’t have to see the Zhao Family at the banquet. I always keep my word."
Chen Man Ni nodded.
"Yeah, what a coincidence. I wonder what the Zhao Family did to offend that big shot."
She didn’t dare to even consider the possibility that this had all been orchestrated by Qin Tuo.
After all, Chen Man Ni thought, ’even I have never met the man. I’ve only heard from my father that he’s a former high-ranking official from the Imperial Court, a man of formidable status.’
’How could Qin Tuo possibly have the standing to order around a man like that?’
Qin Tuo suddenly flashed a wicked grin.
"I win! Remember, you owe me a favor now. When I decide what it is, you have to do it, no questions asked."
Chen Man Ni was stunned. Then, her eyes darted about as she tried to argue her way out of it.
"No way, that doesn’t count! It was that big shot who told the Zhao Family to get lost, not you. So the bet is off."
"Tch, you’re such a sore loser!"
Qin Tuo chuckled and took Chen Man Ni by the hand, starting to walk inside.
Chen Man Ni was shocked.
"Qin Tuo, are you crazy? Did you not just see what happened to the Zhao Family? Wait here, I’ll call my dad and ask him to come get us!"
Seeing that these two young people also seemed intent on forcing their way in, Secretary Gao, who had been about to leave, stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowing slightly.
Qin Tuo said nonchalantly,
"No need to call him. We can just go right in."
With that, he started walking straight in.
Secretary Gao let out a cold, displeased snort.
’He had just personally thrown the Zhao Family out. He’d assumed these two young people would know their place, but he hadn’t expected them to be so utterly clueless.’
"You two wish to enter? Your invitations!"
Secretary Gao demanded, his face cold.
Qin Tuo, however, shook his head quite frankly.
"We don’t have invitations!"
Secretary Gao laughed in exasperation.
"No invitations? Then you’re not allowed in. Did you not see what just happened to the members of the Zhao Family?"
’As Mr. Ouyang’s secretary, his status was undeniable, yet here he was, being toyed with by two youngsters.’
Chen Man Ni frantically shot Qin Tuo a warning look, terrified of offending the big shot’s personal secretary.
Qin Tuo, completely unconcerned, just laughed.
"If I don’t go in, I’m afraid this banquet won’t be able to get started!"
"What? Watch your mouth, kid!"
Secretary Gao was furious, certain that Qin Tuo was deliberately provoking him.
The guards also glared at Qin Tuo with warning in their eyes.
If not for the presence of the young miss, they would have likely gotten physical by now.
HUFF... HUFF...
Secretary Gao’s chest heaved, his displeasure palpable.
He said through gritted teeth:
"Young man, I advise you to leave at once. Don’t push me!"
As he spoke, his aura surged like a tidal wave, revealing him to be a true Inner Family Expert.
"Oh? Not bad at all."
Qin Tuo was mildly surprised and gave Secretary Gao an interested look.
’He’s at least as strong as Long Wu,’ he silently judged.
’A big shot is a big shot. Even his secretary is this skilled.’
Seeing the tension escalating to a breaking point, Chen Man Ni grew anxious and grabbed hold of Qin Tuo’s arm.
"Qin Tuo, have you lost your mind? Look where we are!"
She then turned and put on an apologetic smile.
"Secretary Gao, he’s just not thinking straight. Please don’t lower yourself to his level!"
Secretary Gao snorted coldly but said nothing more.
He didn’t move, however. It was clear he intended to watch Qin Tuo leave with his own eyes.
Seeing the anxiety all over Chen Man Ni’s face, Qin Tuo said,
"What’s there to be afraid of? Let me make a quick call, and we’ll be able to go in."
Hearing Qin Tuo’s arrogant words, Secretary Gao’s brow, which had just begun to relax, knitted together tightly once more.
’What an arrogant brat!’
After finishing his call, Qin Tuo stood there perfectly at ease, whistling a tune.
Chen Man Ni stood beside him, trapped in an awkward limbo, unsure whether to stay or go.
Secretary Gao, meanwhile, simply sneered.
’Go on, keep up the act. I can’t wait to see how you’re going to squirm your way out of this!’
Just a few minutes later, a sudden clamor of hurried footsteps could be heard.
When Secretary Gao turned to look, his jaw dropped.
"Heavens! Mr. Ouyang, why have you come out in person?"
He quickly bowed and hurried forward to greet him.
Mr. Ouyang had an urgent expression, looking around for something as he walked.
Behind him, a large crowd of guests followed, creating a truly spectacular procession.
At this spectacle, the bodyguards scrambled in a panic, hurrying to open the gates wide and clear a path.
Seeing this grand procession, the color drained from Chen Man Ni’s face.
"We’re doomed, we’re doomed! I told you not to be impulsive, and now look! You’ve offended this big shot! It’s not just you—our whole Chen Family could be dragged down with you!"
Qin Tuo, however, remained unhurried and perfectly calm.
In the crowd, Chen Wenxiong saw that Qin Tuo and Secretary Gao seemed to be in the middle of a conflict, and his heart lurched with anxiety.
When Mr. Ouyang reached the entrance and saw Qin Tuo, his face immediately broke into a smile, glowing with delight.
Before he could speak, Chen Wenxiong rushed out from the side, pointing at Qin Tuo.
"Mr. Ouyang, please don’t trouble yourself with a junior. This is my nephew. If he has offended you in any way, I beg you not to take it to heart!"
As he spoke, he frantically signaled with his eyes for Qin Tuo to apologize.
The crowd of guests behind them saw that this young man had apparently offended Mr. Ouyang, and they began to sneer one after another.
’In their minds, Qin Tuo was already a dead man.’
Mr. Ouyang, however, stared at Chen Wenxiong in surprise and asked,
"Oh? Mr. Qin is President Chen’s nephew?"
Chen Wenxiong gave a wry smile.
He was about to nod when a sudden realization struck him.
’What? Did I hear that right? Mr. Ouyang called Qin Tuo... Mr. Qin?’
