Seeing Long Wu’s vicious expression, Lin Yuyan grew even more certain that Qin Tuo and his men were bad guys.
"Let my cousin go, now! Or I’ll really start yelling for help!"
Lin Yuyan threatened, her lips pursed in an angry pout.
"Oh? Celestial King, what’s going on here?"
Long Wu’s face filled with surprise when he realized Lin Yuyan was alone.
He had initially thought she was an assassin from the Jiang Family, but no matter how he looked at her, Lin Yuyan didn’t seem like a professional killer.
Qin Tuo shook his head and smiled.
"It’s a small misunderstanding. She’s not from the Jiang Family; she’s Manni’s cousin."
Then, Qin Tuo walked over to the car and asked Chen Man Ni to get out.
After Qin Tuo explained in a few words, Chen Man Ni’s face filled with astonishment, and she hurried over.
"Cousin, I can’t believe I’m running into you here!"
Chen Man Ni’s face was alight with joy.
Lin Yuyan immediately hopped out of her car and gave Chen Man Ni a tight hug.
"Cousin, don’t be scared! I’m here. They won’t be able to hurt you!"
Lin Yuyan quickly pulled Chen Man Ni behind her, puffing out her chest bravely.
Chen Man Ni shook her head in resignation and said,
"Cousin, you’ve misunderstood. This is Qin Tuo, my boyfriend. And that’s Long Wu, who’s also our friend."
"Huh? No way! Cousin, he’s really your boyfriend?"
Lin Yuyan’s jaw dropped, and her face flushed bright red with embarrassment.
Qin Tuo and Chen Man Ni exchanged a look and couldn’t help but laugh.
"I’m so sorry, brother-in-law! I completely misunderstood you earlier!"
Lin Yuyan said sheepishly, scratching her head.
Qin Tuo shook his head.
"It’s fine. No harm done since you didn’t know."
Chen Man Ni, however, rolled her eyes in exasperation.
"Cousin, you’re still so thoughtless with your words. What’s this ’brother-in-law’ talk? We aren’t even married yet!"
Lin Yuyan said nonchalantly,
"It’s going to happen sooner or later, isn’t it? What’s the difference between calling him that now versus later?"
"Alright, alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. Let’s find a place to sit and have a proper chat."
Chen Man Ni suggested.
Qin Tuo nodded and instructed Long Wu to take the car to get repaired.
The three of them then walked to a nearby restaurant.
Once the three of them were seated, the two cousins, Chen Man Ni and Lin Yuyan, immediately began catching up on what had happened recently.
Qin Tuo simply listened quietly from the side.
After listening for a while, Qin Tuo could tell that Lin Yuyan wasn’t a bad person at heart; she just had a very straightforward and blunt personality.
Just then, Lin Yuyan looked at Qin Tuo with curious eyes.
"So, which prominent family are you from? How did you and my cousin meet?"
’Given her cousin Chen Man Ni’s family background,’ Lin Yuyan thought, ’she should at least find a young master from a family of equal social standing.’
But Qin Tuo just shook his head and denied it.
"I’m no young master from some prominent family. I’m just unemployed, and I rely completely on your cousin to support me."
Lin Yuyan was stunned for a moment, then blurted out subconsciously,
"Oh, so in that case, you’re just a kept man?"
The moment the words left her mouth, she flushed red.
Chen Man Ni shot her a harsh glare.
Lin Yuyan knew she had misspoken and quickly apologized.
"I’m so sorry, Qin Tuo! I didn’t mean it, please don’t take it to heart."
Chen Man Ni also explained with a smile,
"Qin Tuo, my cousin’s just like that. She tends to speak without thinking."
Of course, Qin Tuo didn’t mind. He just smiled.
"It’s alright. You’re not exactly wrong, you know."
’Qin Tuo actually had a pretty good impression of Lin Yuyan. He found her to be a simple and endearing girl.’
Seeing that Qin Tuo wasn’t blaming her, Lin Yuyan started to feel a bit of affection for him as well.
Lin Yuyan suddenly thought of something and said with a smile,
"Cousin, I already called my older sister. She’ll be here in a bit."
Chen Man Ni nodded, a nostalgic look appearing in her eyes.
Before long, Lin Yuyan’s older sister, Lin Yushu, arrived.
Lin Yushu was dressed in an elegant and tasteful manner, looking every bit the part of a high-powered career woman.
"Manni, it’s been a while!"
Lin Yushu greeted her with a smile, and Chen Man Ni hurried over to embrace her.
After they sat down and exchanged a few words, Lin Yushu couldn’t help but turn her attention to Qin Tuo.
Seeing that Qin Tuo was well-dressed and carried himself with a remarkable air, Lin Yushu couldn’t help but give him a second look.
"You’re Qin Tuo, Manni’s boyfriend, correct?"
Lin Yushu asked, her curiosity piqued.
Qin Tuo nodded with a slight smile.
Lin Yushu got straight to the point.
"Mr. Qin, what line of business is your family in? You must be quite something for my cousin to have taken an interest in you."
Qin Tuo replied nonchalantly,
"I’m just from an ordinary, working-class family."
Lin Yushu was taken aback for a moment. Lin Yuyan quickly leaned over and whispered something to her sister.
Instantly, Lin Yushu’s face darkened.
She paused for a moment, then couldn’t stop herself from saying,
"Manni, let me give you a piece of advice. You need to be very careful when you’re dating. Don’t let yourself be scammed!"
It was obvious she had aimed those words at Qin Tuo.
Chen Man Ni tried to explain, but Lin Yushu quickly cut her off.
"Manni, I’m speaking from experience. What is there that I don’t understand? Don’t argue with me about this."
A hint of surprise flickered in Qin Tuo’s eyes.
’He hadn’t expected the two sisters, Lin Yuyan and Lin Yushu, to have such drastically different personalities.’
Lin Yushu’s face was cold as she demanded,
"Qin Tuo, you’re young and able-bodied. Why do you insist on being a kept man?"
Hearing this, Chen Man Ni’s expression turned grim.
She couldn’t help but gently squeeze Qin Tuo’s hand, shaking her head slightly as if to tell him not to get angry.
’But given Qin Tuo’s temperament, how could a few words from Lin Yushu possibly make him angry?’
Just then, a tall man in casual clothes walked over.
This was Lin Yushu’s boyfriend, Zhou Qihua.
He came over, greeted everyone with a smile and a nod, then leaned down and asked with a grin,
"Darling, who were you just saying is a kept man?"
Lin Yushu pointed at Qin Tuo across the table and said irritably,
"Him! He’s the pretty boy living off my cousin, Chen Man Ni!"
However, after glancing at Qin Tuo, Zhou Qihua’s expression grew thoughtful, and he didn’t reply.
Chen Man Ni finally couldn’t take it anymore, especially since Lin Yushu was now berating Qin Tuo in front of her own boyfriend.
"That’s enough, cousin. You’ve said plenty. Who I choose to date is my business, so you can stop worrying about it!"
But Lin Yushu complained right back,
"Oh, cousin, I’m not trying to criticize you, but you’re being far too careless with your choice of boyfriend. Besides, you should at least find someone of equal social standing, don’t you think?"
Through it all, Qin Tuo simply sat there, calmly sipping his tea, his expression completely serene.
’Seeing Qin Tuo’s composure, Zhou Qihua inwardly nodded in approval.’
