Chapter 184: Chapter 184: Critical Moment

Ming City Center. A hotel.

Inside a private room in the hotel, three Hong Kong businessmen sat motionless.

One of them, a man with white eyebrows, was seated cross-legged on the floor, muttering under his breath as if chanting some mysterious incantation.

After a moment, he opened his eyes.

Seeing this, the other two businessmen hurried forward to ask about the situation.

"Bai Mei, how did it go?"

After asking, both men felt a sense of nervousness.

After all, this operation was incredibly important; they absolutely could not afford to fail.

This man with the white eyebrows was known to others as Bai Mei.

A look of triumph flashed in Bai Mei’s eyes.

"Rest assured, I have successfully brought Xu Zhigang under control. He is now nothing more than a puppet in our hands."

Hearing this, the two businessmen burst into joyous laughter.

"Haha, excellent! Now that we have Xu Zhigang under control, once he signs the contract, he won’t be able to back out even if he wants to."

The other businessman praised him effusively:

"Bai Mei, you truly live up to your reputation as the most famous Warlock in the outer harbor! You’ve accomplished such a crucial task with ease!"

Listening to their flattery, Bai Mei just gave a faint smile, paying it no mind.

Given his status and position, even acting on their behalf was already a great favor.

Bai Mei simply extended a hand, palm open.

"Gentlemen, for solving your problem this time, fifty million isn’t too much to ask, is it?"

The two businessmen nodded without hesitation, putting on smiling faces.

"Mr. Bai Mei, not at all! That amount is nothing!"

As they spoke, they quickly made calls to have their subordinates transfer the money.

Evidently, both of them had absolute faith in Bai Mei’s abilities and were certain he wouldn’t disappoint them.

Soon, seeing the money had been transferred, a satisfied smile appeared on Bai Mei’s face.

Meanwhile, Long Wu was quietly keeping watch outside the small building where Xu Shigang lived.

He sat in a black sedan with two of his men beside him.

They had been waiting here for a long time, and everyone was starting to feel drowsy.

Just then, one of the subordinates beside him suddenly cried out in alarm.

"Master Long, look! Something’s happening!"

Long Wu looked forward and, sure enough, saw a figure slowly walking out of the building.

A closer look revealed it was none other than Xu Zhigang.

Xu Zhigang’s face was pale and completely drained of color.

Moreover, his gait was extremely bizarre; from a distance, he looked like a marionette, his every movement unsettling enough to make one’s scalp tingle.

"Master Long, something’s not right with Prefect Xu!"

The subordinate next to him had also noticed, speaking in a cautious tone.

Long Wu nodded and, without hesitation, pulled out his phone to call Qin Tuo.

"Hello, Long Wu, what’s the situation?"

Qin Tuo answered the call and immediately asked with concern.

Long Wu said gravely:

"Celestial King, Prefect Xu has come out, and he looks... off."

Hearing this, Qin Tuo’s heart sank. He immediately ordered:

"Alright, follow him immediately. Don’t lose him, whatever you do! I’m on my way!"

After hanging up, Qin Tuo immediately drove off, following Long Wu’s directions to a hotel.

As soon as Qin Tuo arrived, Long Wu hurried over to meet him.

"What’s the situation?"

Qin Tuo’s gaze was somber.

Long Wu said slowly:

"Celestial King, I just watched Prefect Xu enter this hotel. I’ve already had Qian Liu follow him inside. What should we do next?"

Qin Tuo nodded, completely confident in Long Wu’s handling of the matter.

He also knew that Qian Liu was a clever man and would not lose Xu Zhigang.

After a moment of thought, Qin Tuo instructed:

"Here’s the plan. Get some of our men over here and surround this hotel. No one gets in or out. Understood?"

"Yes, Celestial King!"

Long Wu quickly made a call to order his men into action.

Then, Qin Tuo led Long Wu inside.

In a room on the second floor of the hotel, Xu Zhigang stood stiffly in a corner, his face devoid of expression.

He had completely turned into a puppet, devoid of his own thoughts.

Beside him, the two Hong Kong businessmen were laughing without restraint.

"The great head of the municipal government himself is at our mercy! It looks like all of Ming City will be ours from now on!"

The other businessman couldn’t help but say smugly:

"Isn’t that the truth? Now, if we tell him to sign, he has to sign. He couldn’t be more obedient!"

But Bai Mei, standing to the side, couldn’t help but frown and urge them on.

"Stop wasting time and get the contract signed. My Puppetry Technique won’t last forever!"

Startled by his words, the two businessmen realized they had gotten carried away.

They quickly seized the opportunity to get the contract signed.

Suddenly, a sharp glint seemed to shoot from Bai Mei’s eyes!

Like a walking corpse, Xu Zhigang slowly bent down, signed the contract, and then stamped it with a seal.

Seeing that it was a done deal, the two businessmen let out a huge sigh of relief.

Looking at the contract, they felt incredibly smug.

But just then, the door was suddenly kicked open by Long Wu.

CRASH!

The two businessmen jumped in fright.

Bai Mei couldn’t help but frown as well, his cold gaze sweeping over.

Long Wu was the first to charge in, a ferocious look on his face as he glared fiercely at the people in the room.

"You have some nerve, trying to pull this crap in our Ming City!"

Long Wu shouted, bolstering his own presence.

The two businessmen were startled again, feeling a surge of fear and anxiety.

But Bai Mei just snorted disdainfully and said:

"You must be Long Wu. How dare you track us here. You’re courting death!"

Long Wu retorted coldly:

"You’re the ones who are courting death!"

Bai Mei laughed in anger and threatened directly:

"Get the hell out of here, or I’ll make sure you die a miserable death. Don’t try my patience!"

As he spoke, he adopted a stance as if ready to strike.

Seeing this, Long Wu couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

After all, he had heard from Qin Tuo that this guy was a genuine Cultivator.

But just then, Qin Tuo stepped forward from behind him, a cold smirk on his face.

"You think you can run wild in Ming City with just a petty Soul-Stealing Technique? You’re seriously overestimating yourself."

Hearing this, Bai Mei’s heart clenched, and a look of astonishment appeared on his face.

And the faces of the two businessmen turned deathly pale.

Of course, they knew that Bai Mei had used the Soul-Stealing Technique.

But what they couldn’t possibly fathom was how this young man before them had identified the Soul-Stealing Technique by name in a single sentence.
