Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Half Moon Bay Villa
He checked the injury on his father’s leg, his heart growing heavy.
’An accident? I’m afraid this was no accident!’
Qin Tuo said decisively to his father.
"Dad, someone might be targeting us. We can’t live here anymore!"
"Ah? Son, why?"
Qin Hongguo was taken aback.
Having been an honest, simple man his whole life, he couldn’t think of anyone he might have offended.
"Listen to me. Let’s move out!"
Qin Tuo was very insistent.
Seeing his son like this, Qin Hongguo knew there must be something more to the story.
However, he frowned.
"Son, where could we possibly go?"
Other than a house full of scrap, they had few valuable possessions, and their pockets were practically empty.
Qin Tuo smiled faintly and took out the key Chen Wenxiong had given him.
"Dad, we can move into this house."
Qin Tuo said with a smile, holding up the key in his hand.
Qin Hongguo inadvertently saw a logo on the key.
It was a crescent moon, radiating an air of nobility and elegance...
Suddenly, Qin Hongguo remembered something, and his face changed drastically.
"Heavens, isn’t this the logo for Half Moon Bay? Son, how do you have this key?"
Half Moon Bay. Even if one had never been there, they’d heard of it. It was the premier enclave for the wealthiest people in all of Ming City.
"Oh, so it’s a key to a place in Half Moon Bay..."
Qin Tuo was also a little surprised.
He had guessed that Chen Wenxiong was generous, but he hadn’t expected him to be this generous.
A villa in Half Moon Bay, just like that. What an incredible gesture!
At that moment, Qin Hongguo pressed him for an answer:
"Son, what is going on? Whose key is this?"
He asked, his eyes filled with deep suspicion.
Qin Tuo shook his head and said with a smile:
"Dad, it’s a friend’s house. He’s just letting us stay there temporarily."
Qin Tuo didn’t want to explain too much to his parents, lest he worry them, so his answer was a bit vague.
At this, however, Qin Hongguo snorted coldly.
"What have I taught you since you were a child? I always told you that you must be an honest person and never lie. You just got out of prison, how could you possibly know such a powerful friend?"
Hearing this, Qin Tuo gave a helpless, bitter smile.
His father had always been very strict with him.
He still vividly remembered being beaten severely as a child for telling a single lie.
"Dad, I’m really not lying. If you don’t believe me, why don’t we go and see for ourselves?"
Qin Tuo urged with a wry smile.
Beside them, Luo Xianglan struggled to sit up and said weakly:
"Honey, don’t blame him. The boy means well. Let’s go take a look tomorrow."
Qin Hongguo fell silent.
After a moment of deep thought, he nodded doubtfully.
Seeing his father agree, Qin Tuo quickly got up and started packing.
"Dad, let’s just leave this junk behind. As for the appliances and furniture, we can come back for them later if we get the chance!"
Qin Tuo said as he packed.
"What! Leave it all behind? How can we do that?"
Qin Hongguo immediately shook his head vehemently.
In the end, unable to win against his father’s stubbornness, Qin Tuo could only promise to come back for the "junk" after they moved.
The family of three took a taxi and slowly made their way to the Half Moon Bay Villa District.
When they arrived at the main gate, Luo Xianglan and Qin Hongguo were completely stunned by the sight of the luxurious and grand entrance.
"So this is the Half Moon Bay Villa District? It really is magnificent!"
"The landscaping here is so well done, and the air is so fresh! It’s so much better than the city!"
Luo Xianglan, sitting in her wheelchair, murmured in constant amazement.
Qin Hongguo and his son followed behind, pushing her slowly.
"Mom, from now on, we can live here too!"
Qin Tuo said with a smile, his words filled with pride.
Luo Xianglan nodded excitedly again and again, but a dark cloud remained on Qin Hongguo’s face.
As they approached the main gate, a security guard suddenly rushed out and stopped them.
"Unauthorized personnel are not allowed inside! Open your eyes and see where you are!"
The guard barked, his face cold and merciless.
Qin Tuo’s face darkened, and he stepped forward.
"Please open the gate. We live here."
"Oh-ho! You live here?"
The guard immediately took two steps back, coldly sizing up Qin Tuo from head to toe.
Qin Tuo was wearing ordinary, cheap casual clothes. Qin Hongguo and Luo Xianglan were also dressed plainly, their clothes even covered in many patches.
The guards exchanged a look and immediately began to sneer.
"People as shabby-looking as you, living in a high-end villa complex like this? Are you kidding me?"
Another guard also spoke up mockingly.
"Heh! People who can afford to live in the Half-Mountain Villa District need to take a taxi? Who here doesn’t own several luxury cars worth millions!"
"Go on, get out of here. Stop trying to have fun at our expense. We don’t have time to waste on you!"
The guards waved their hands impatiently, their faces full of scorn.
Qin Tuo’s face sank instantly, while Qin Hongguo’s turned ashen with shame.
An honest and decent man his whole life, he was now being ridiculed like this, and shame turned to anger in his heart.
"Son, what did I teach you? A person must be honest and upstanding! Look at you, you just had to refuse to listen and made us lose face here."
Beside them, Luo Xianglan hung her head low, deeply ashamed.
"Son, let’s just go. A place like this isn’t for people like us."
Seeing his parents being bullied like this left a bitter taste in Qin Tuo’s mouth.
He patted Qin Hongguo’s puffed-out chest and forced a smile.
"Dad, don’t be angry. I have a way."
Then, with a cold expression, he walked toward one of the guards.
"Kid, what are you still doing here? If you upset the important people inside, I’m afraid you can’t afford the consequences!"
The guards, their expressions menacing, slowly closed in around him.
In the next moment, however, they all froze in unison!
They saw Qin Tuo holding a set of keys, dangling and spinning them slowly.
"Open your damn eyes and take a good look at what this is!"
Qin Tuo snorted coldly.
"Oh, it’s a key for Half Moon Bay? Is it real or fake?"
The guards looked at each other, their faces full of suspicion.
"Kid, this key isn’t fake, is it?"
One of the guards asked, eyeing Qin Tuo with a hostile expression.
Qin Tuo sneered.
"Whether the key is real or fake, why don’t you go in and check? Then you’ll know."
None of the guards believed the keys in Qin Tuo’s hand were real.
They were about to chase him away, but then a thought occurred to them: what if the key was real?
At that thought, they shivered!
Then, one of the guards took the key.
"Fine. You wait here, kid. I’ll be right back."
Qin Hongguo pushed Luo Xianglan’s wheelchair over, still wanting to persuade Qin Tuo to just leave.
Qin Tuo smiled and reassured them.
"No rush. Let’s just wait and see!"
After a while, the guard still hadn’t returned, but in the distance, a red BMW slowly drove toward them.
The BMW actually stopped right in front of Qin Tuo’s family.
Just as Qin Tuo and his parents were looking on in confusion, the car window slowly rolled down, revealing the mocking faces of Xu Min and her son!
