Chapter 113: Chapter 113: No Need to Pay
Seeing that Wu Liang had already dug in and all the wine bottles were open, the crowd swarmed forward to have a taste.
Their eyes lit up. To them, this wine was like a goddess descended from heaven!
After all, this wine cost hundreds of thousands per bottle. How could poor students like them have ever experienced such extravagance?
Wu Liang urged his classmates to drink, forcing a smile that looked more painful than crying.
"Come on, everyone, drink up! It’s not often you get a chance to taste a wine like this..."
Seeing how generous Wu Liang was being, the classmates started sucking up to him like their lives depended on it as they drank.
"Senior Wu, you’re really a big shot! Most people could never afford to treat someone to a wine like this!"
"Look at that kid. He already finished one bottle and is starting on a second. We’ll see how he plans on paying for that later."
While they were all busy brown-nosing, they were also eager to watch the joke that Qin Tuo was about to become.
After all, Wu Liang wasn’t covering Qin Tuo’s personal tab.
And Qin Tuo had just finished one bottle, which was at least two hundred thousand, minimum.
Looking at him, not a single person believed Qin Tuo could cough up two hundred thousand.
And now, Qin Tuo was actually starting on a second bottle of Romanee-Conti!
’Keep fronting, kid. Just keep putting on an act!’
Wu Liang sneered inwardly.
At this point, he felt he had nothing left to lose, so he was curious to see how long Qin Tuo could keep up his tough guy act.
Before long, all ten bottles of wine had been polished off.
The classmates licked their lips, looking like they still hadn’t had their fill.
Wu Liang waved the server over.
"Server, could you tally up the bill?"
The server smiled and replied,
"Hello, sir. The total for the banquet and the wine comes to exactly 2.48 million. I’ve already waived the odd change for you."
Hearing that number, Wu Liang’s heart gave a violent lurch.
He pointed at Qin Tuo and sneered,
"I saw it with my own two eyes! That kid alone downed three bottles of Romanee-Conti. His tab has nothing to do with me!"
The server continued to smile politely.
"Very well, sir. In that case, you still need to pay 1.88 million."
Wu Liang’s stomach churned. He did a quick mental calculation. After paying this bill, all his efforts today would have been for nothing.
Unwilling to let it go, Wu Liang gritted his teeth and said,
"Have this kid settle his bill first. Our party isn’t over yet!"
At that, all eyes were fixed on Qin Tuo.
They all knew it was finally time for the show to begin.
Seeing no reaction from Qin Tuo, everyone finally erupted in laughter.
Wu Liang jeered,
"Qin Tuo, what are you gaping for? Hurry up and settle your bill. What’s the matter? Don’t tell me you can’t afford it?"
As he spoke, he couldn’t help but let out a smug laugh.
Han Zilin, however, had turned pale. She asked in a low voice,
"Brother Tu, do you want me to call Sister Ke Xin? Maybe she can lend us some money to handle this."
Xu Ting, standing nearby, also thought Qin Tuo had been far too reckless tonight. ’If you don’t have the means, why insist on putting up such a front?’
’Now he’s really painted himself into a corner!’
Still, she thought Qin Tuo seemed like a decent guy, so after a moment’s thought, she offered,
"How about this, I can try to figure something out, but I can only scrape together ten or twenty thousand at most."
Seeing the two girls trying to figure out a solution for Qin Tuo, Zhang Xiaoqian couldn’t help but taunt loudly,
"Qin Tuo, I’m second-hand embarrassed for you! A grown man needing women to figure out how to pay his bill for him. You’re becoming more pathetic by the day!"
The others couldn’t help but chime in in agreement.
"You guys think he’ll be thrown in jail for trying to dine-and-dash at the Lige Hotel?"
"Is that even a question? This is the Lige Hotel we’re talking about. No one has ever had a drink here and dared not to pay!"
The moment she heard Qin Tuo might be thrown in jail again, Han Zilin’s face went completely ashen.
"Brother Tu, why don’t I call home? I can ask my mom to help raise some money."
There was already a sob creeping into Han Zilin’s voice.
Qin Tuo shook his head and smiled.
"Silly girl, don’t worry about it. I don’t need your help."
Hearing this, Wu Liang and the others laughed even harder. They were sure Qin Tuo had finally reached his breaking point and couldn’t keep up the act any longer!
"Qin Tuo, hurry up and pay! Don’t waste the server’s time, alright?"
Wu Liang urged, feigning righteous indignation.
However, Qin Tuo just looked confused and asked in return,
"Pay? Pay for what?"
Wu Liang wasn’t in a rush. He chuckled.
"What are you playing at, kid? The bill for the wine you just drank, of course. All of us saw you. Are you trying to get out of paying?"
Everyone nodded in agreement. They could all serve as witnesses; there was no way they’d let Qin Tuo skip out on this bill.
But Qin Tuo just grinned and said,
"Sorry, but I don’t have to pay for meals anywhere I go. If you don’t believe me, just ask the server!"
How could Wu Liang possibly believe Qin Tuo’s bullshit? He quickly said,
"Server, this guy is spouting nonsense! Make him settle his bill, and whatever you do, don’t let him run off!"
However, the server simply gave a polite smile and a nod.
"Mr. Qin indeed does not need to pay for his expenses at our hotel."
As soon as he said this, everyone was dumbfounded.
They all wondered if they had misheard.
He didn’t have to pay for anything? How on earth did this kid manage that?
Wu Liang, in particular, looked as if he had been struck by lightning, completely frozen.
He demanded in an agitated voice,
"What is wrong with you people? Why doesn’t he have to pay? You’d better give me a good explanation!"
The server dropped all pretense of politeness and said coldly,
"We have no need to explain anything to you. You just need to pay the 1.88 million you owe!"
"I..."
Wu Liang was utterly floored.
Looking at Qin Tuo’s beaming smile, he felt rage burn within him.
At this point, how could Wu Liang not realize he had been played by Qin Tuo?
He said through gritted teeth,
"You bastard, you dared to set me up! No wonder you provoked me into buying the wine like that. It turns out you don’t have to pay for anything here!"
His voice was dripping with resentment and pent-up frustration.
All the other classmates, including Zhang Xiaoqian, stared at Qin Tuo, their minds reeling.
Only now did it dawn on them. ’So we were the clowns all along?’
Qin Tuo said nonchalantly,
"Heh, you call this a setup? Compared to you scamming money from our classmates, I’d say this is nothing!"
Wu Liang’s expression changed in alarm, and he quickly snapped,
"Qin Tuo, what nonsense are you talking about? Say one more word, and I’ll sue you for slander!"
Qin Tuo stated with perfect composure,
"You took advantage of our classmates’ desire to make money, tricked them into investing with you, and planned to run off with their cash. It’s a low-level scam that might fool them, but it won’t fool me!"
Hearing this, Wu Liang’s face turned extremely ugly, his guilty conscience pricked.
Qin Tuo’s words also gave everyone present a huge shock.
In an instant, all eyes were on Wu Liang, as if demanding an explanation.
