Chapter 473: Chapter-473
He lunged forward like a rabid wolf, grabbing the Head Physician by the throat of his robes and lifting him right off the floor. "What the hell are you doing?!" Samuel snarled, his eyes completely bloodshot, radiating an aura of pure slaughter. "What are you useful for if you can’t even figure out what is destroying her?!"
"I-I don’t know, My Lord!" the physician choked out, his legs kicking frantically. "I-It might be a severe migraine—"
Samuel violently hurled the man backward into the wall. "A migraine?!" He pointed a trembling, furious finger at the bed, where Seera was currently arching her back, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the bedsheets in pure torment. "Do you think ’that’ is a migraine?! A migraine does not look like her soul is being ripped out! Are you completely crazy?!"
The physician trembled violently against the wall, clutching his chest. Deep down, a horrifying memory surfaced. He ’had’ seen a case with these exact, inexplicable symptoms before. But the memory chilled him to his very marrow—because the last patient who suffered this unexplainable, screaming head pain had simply dropped dead the very next morning, their brain completely liquified. If he told this bloodthirsty General and this terrifying young Lord that Lady Seera was suffering from a fatal, incurable condition, they would execute him right there on the rug. So, the cowardly doctor clamped his mouth shut, shaking his head.
Meanwhile, completely paralyzed on the bed, Heena was drowning in the torment.
Her physical eyes were rolled back, but internally, her mind was hyper-lucid. It didn’t take her long to figure out exactly what this agony was.
She was a veteran agent. She had transmigrated into and inherited countless bodies across dozens of dimensions. She knew exactly what this specific, soul-tearing, bone-crushing agony meant. It was a terrifyingly familiar pain.
’’Damn it!’’ Heena cursed fiercely in her own mind, the deep, boiling irritation almost outweighing the physical agony. ’’Not now!’’
Desperate to do ’something’ to appease the murderous lords in the room, the terrified physician hurriedly mixed a heavy, liquid painkiller. Since this primitive era had no intravenous injections, the medicine had to be forced down her throat.
The physician approached the bed with trembling hands, holding the bitter, dark liquid in a small porcelain cup. "My Lady, please, you must drink this. Lord Samuel, hold her steady!"
Samuel gently but firmly gripped her shoulders, his face pale and desperate.
But as the physician brought the cup to her lips, they realized the horrifying extent of her condition. He couldn’t get a single drop past her lips.
Heena’s physical body was completely locked down by the sheer, explosive magnitude of the neural shock. Her jaw was clamped shut like a rusted steel trap, the muscles in her neck and face bulging. Her teeth were clenched so incredibly, violently tight that the doctors couldn’t even pry her lips apart, leaving the desperate family to just watch her suffer.
The Head Physician had no other choice. With trembling hands, he grabbed a heavy, flat-handled silver spoon from the medicinal tray.
"Forgive me, My Lady," he whispered, wiping the sweat from his brow.
He wedged the cold metal directly between her locked teeth. Using sheer, desperate leverage, he pressed down, the metal scraping harshly against her enamel until he finally managed to pry her jaw open just enough. He didn’t dare try acupressure or pinching her philtrum—the neural shock was already so violently high that triggering another nerve cluster might just stop her heart entirely.
He quickly poured the dark, scaldingly hot medicine down her throat.
For an entire hour, the room was trapped in a suffocating, terrifying purgatory as everyone watched her fight the pain. Slowly, agonizingly, the molten spike in her brain began to dull.
After two hours, the blinding agony finally receded into a heavy, throbbing ache.
Heena slowly fluttered her eyes open. Her vision blurred for a moment before focusing on the three faces hovering over her. The old Marquis, the grandmother, and Samuel were entirely pale, looking as though they had just aged ten years in the span of two hours.
Heena forced her stiff lips to curve into a weak, perfectly innocent smile. "Ah... you guys were here?" she murmured, bringing a trembling hand up to lightly massage her temple.
"Seera!" the old Marquis practically choked, leaning in. "Are you fine?! What in the heavens just happened?!"
Heena kept her expression incredibly casual, waving her hand dismissively. "Oh, it’s fine, Grandpa. I’m fine. I just woke up after a long sleep, so my body was just a little too tired. It was just a sharp headache."
The old Marquis’s brows knit together. He was a veteran general who had seen men die in a hundred different ways; he knew damn well that the soul-tearing agony he just witnessed was not simply from being "tired." He knew she was lying straight to his face. But looking at her exhausted, pale complexion, he couldn’t bring himself to interrogate her. It vaguely made sense—she had just been in a two-day coma, after all.
Samuel, however, remained completely silent.
He stood near the headboard, his dark eyes locked onto Heena with a heavy, piercing suspicion. He didn’t say a single word, but the chaotic storm of thoughts behind his gaze made it clear he didn’t believe her for a fraction of a second.
The physician, equally clueless and desperate to save his own neck, hastily prescribed some highly expensive, completely useless herbal supplements, bowing deeply before practically sprinting out of the room.
Eventually, Heena softly requested to rest. Reluctantly, the grandparents and a deeply suspicious Samuel filed out of the room, closing the heavy doors behind them.
The exact second the lock clicked, Heena’s smile vanished. She let out a ragged breath and immediately grabbed her head, burying her face into the pillows as a fresh wave of dull throbbing washed over her.
’[Host! Host, are you okay?!]’
The System materialized on the bed as a glowing little lion cub. It was frantically jumping around her pillows, its digital eyes wide with genuine panic. ’[That was terrifying! What was that?!]’
"Ah... I’m fine now," Heena muttered, her voice muffled against the silk sheets. She slowly rolled onto her back, staring blankly at the ornate ceiling. "It’s just a brain tumor."
The digital lion completely froze mid-jump. It landed awkwardly on the mattress.
’[...Huh? What?]’
Heena turned her head, looking at the glowing avatar with an incredibly calm, deadpan expression. "It is a brain tumor."
The System’s interface glitched violently, flashing bright red. ’[Wait. What?! How?! I mean... wait! How do you even know that?!]’
Heena slowly sat up, resting her back against the headboard with a casual sigh. "Ah, well. I have already died in two different worlds from this exact same disease. The sheer, skull-cracking agony? The sudden loss of motor function? I matched the symptoms. I know what a terminal brain tumor feels like."
The System stared at her, its jaw dropping. ’[A brain tumor?! Wait... oh my god. Now I understand! You’ve been having slight nausea and dizziness for weeks! I just thought it was motion sickness from the carriage rides!]’
"Yeah, exactly," Heena nodded, reaching up to gently rub the back of her head.
’[But... but how can this body have a brain tumor?!]’ the System cried out, completely bewildered.
