Chapter 470: Chapter-470

A twisted, cruel smile stretched across the mother’s face.

"You know, I have been wishing to kill you from the very day you took your first breath," she confessed, her eyes gleaming in the dim light. "But that wretched old woman... your grandmother... she always protected you. She hovered over you like a hawk. But today? Today I finally got my chance."

She leaned down until her lips were only inches from Heena’s ear.

"Wouldn’t it have been so much better if you had just died when you fell down that cliff?" the mother whispered, her voice trembling with dark anticipation. "Why the heck did you even bother returning?"

"Because of you... and your father... damn all of them, every single dream of mine was destroyed!"

The mother’s voice hitched, pitching upward into a deranged, suppressed shriek. She suddenly lunged forward, her hands shooting out to wrap tightly around Heena’s throat.

Her long, manicured nails dug viciously into the fragile skin of Heena’s neck, drawing a sharp, stinging pain that screamed through Heena’s nervous system. The pressure was intense, cutting off her air supply and burning her throat. A normal person would have instantly gasped, choked, or thrashed out in pure survival instinct.

But Heena possessed a will forged in absolute hell. Even as her lungs began to ache and the sharp nails threatened to draw blood, she completely controlled her physical vessel. She did not twitch. She did not flinch. Her breathing remained agonizingly slow and shallow, perfectly mimicking a helpless, comatose patient.

"I wanted so much in life," the mother hissed, tightening her grip slightly as she leaned directly over Heena’s face. "But I was pushed into this suffocating house because of you. Do you have any idea what I lost because of you?!"

She shook Heena’s limp head slightly, her eyes wide and manic.

"I lost my love. Do you remember what happened before you were born? No, of course you don’t. But I had planned ’everything’. I had the money saved. The carriage was secured. I was taking it all and running away with him. Everything was perfectly fine!"

Her face contorted into a mask of pure, ugly bitterness.

"But then... I got pregnant. With ’you’." She spat the word out as if it was a deadly poison. "And from that exact moment, those bastards in this family kept their eyes on me day and night. Acting like I was some fragile, precious thing carrying the heir! Ha! Nonsense! They just wanted to keep me chained. They watched me so closely I couldn’t even breathe, let alone escape."

The mother’s breathing grew ragged, her nails digging deeper into Heena’s flesh.

"And then you were born. A useless, rubbish girl. Because of you, the high society laughed at me behind their fans. They still do! Because of you, my beloved realized I could never leave, and he left me behind. It was all your fault!"

Tears of rage welled in the mother’s eyes, but there was no sorrow in them—only a deeply rooted, festering rot.

"Whenever you used to waddle after me, looking up with those big eyes and calling me ’Mother’... it made me so furiously angry that I wished I could just snap your neck right there and then!" she snarled, her thumbs pressing dangerously close to Heena’s windpipe. "You have this wretched face that looks just like mine. Because of you, my youth was drained. I lost my beauty, my freedom, my entire life. Everyone in this wretched capital wanted me to play the part of the ’good mother’ and all that sickening nonsense."

She leaned in closer, her hot, frantic breath brushing against Heena’s pale cheeks.

"Why would I ever want to be your mother?" she whispered, her voice cracking with a lifetime of venom. "If you had to ruin my life... why were you not at least born a boy?!"

The mother suddenly threw her head back and burst into a fit of hushed, manic laughter.

"Everything... everything was finally going exactly according to my plan! But then you had to mess it all up. I was right on the verge of sending that meddling old woman away to the temple to ’pray’ for you. That wretched old man would have been deployed back to the border, and this entire Marcuset family would have finally belonged to Kavien—my beloved child!"

Deep in the mental void, the System was completely dumbfounded. ’[What the heck?! Kavien isn’t even... what?!]’

"The child I chose with my own two hands," the mother sneered, her eyes wide and wild. "You always used to cry and ask me why I favored him so much. Of course I did, you damn bitch! Because you were useless to me! But fine... fine. What I couldn’t accomplish all these years, I will simply finish tonight."

She reached over to the untouched food tray resting on the nightstand, her fingers wrapping tightly around the silver handle of a sharp fruit knife.

"Oh, and in case you were wondering why I even married your father," she whispered, turning the blade over in the dim moonlight. "Did you really think I married that brute for love? That idiot man couldn’t even comprehend a simple scholarly poem! Do you honestly think I would ever fall for a dog like him? No. I married him because I wanted the military power this family possesses."

Her face twisted with bitter frustration. "But the fool was useless! All the true power belonged to that old woman. So, I came up with a new plan. I went to an orphanage, chose a boy, and brought Kavien into this house, thinking that old hag would finally lower her guard and accept a male heir. But no! That crazy couple never accepted him! Even after all these years, they treated him like an outsider!"

The mother pointed the tip of the knife directly at Heena’s chest.

"And then you... you dared to expose Kavien’s embezzlement! Who the hell do you think you are?! This family belongs to him. It was ’my’ decision. That is exactly why I pushed you off that cliff to kill you!"

She let out a low, mocking scoff. "And then you come back, playing this pathetic memory loss game. Do you think I am crazy? Do you think I don’t know you are just acting? But... it’s fine. It’s all fine. After you die tonight, my plan will work perfectly. With the Su family backing me, as soon as I finish you off, the Marcuset estate will belong to Kavien. And that old couple? They will be so busy grieving for you, God knows how easily they will meet their own tragic end. Then, all the military power will finally belong to me."

She raised the knife high above her head, her eyes flashing with murderous glee. "Don’t worry, child. I will send your grandparents and your father right to hell with you. I won’t let you die in vain. Anyway, that is enough talking. You are going to die now... so just die!"

She violently brought the knife down toward Heena’s heart.

’SWISH—’

Suddenly, Heena’s eyes snapped wide open. They weren’t the dull, unfocused eyes of a comatose patient; they were sharp, lucid, and burning with a terrifying, predatory light.

Before the blade could even touch her clothes, Heena violently shifted her weight and snapped her leg upward.

’BAM!’

The flat of Heena’s foot slammed directly into the center of her mother’s chest.
