Chapter 421: Chapter-421

Right now, the System was diligently floating outside the pavilion doors, acting as an invisible, foolproof radar. It would instantly alert her if even a stray cat wandered too close to the room.

There was absolutely no one around.

Besides, Heena thought with a hidden, highly amused smirk, this was real life, not some overly dramatic espionage novel. It wasn’t like a squad of invisible assassins and eavesdropping spies were constantly working overtime, 24/7, just waiting outside dining room doors.

Heena casually leaned her chin into her hand, entirely unbothered by his warning.

Heena looked at his desperately flustered expression and pushed her teasing just a little further. She widened her eyes into a pitiful, coquettish gaze.

"Aiya, why are you so angry, Hubby?" she whined softly.

But almost immediately, she broke character. Heena was incredibly smart, but acting like a helpless, simpering maiden was something she genuinely disliked—and she wasn’t particularly good at maintaining the facade when it was just the two of them.

Samuel, who had been panicking a second ago, instantly caught the shift. His flustered expression melted into a deadpan, entirely calm stare. His dark eyes basically said: ’If you don’t even like acting like that, why are you doing it?’

Seeing his entirely unamused face, Heena dropped the act completely. She burst into a bright laugh, waving her hand dismissively.

"Aiya, it is nothing," Heena smiled, casually touching her bruised cheek. "It is just a simple slap, you know. I have survived worse. I was slapped even harder by your old servant nanny, did you forget?"

The casual, entirely lighthearted way she tossed out that memory was like a literal dagger plunging straight into Samuel’s chest.

Even though that incident had happened back before he had truly fallen in love with her, and before he fully understood her worth, it had still happened under his roof. It had happened in ’his’ territory, by ’his’ people. The sheer guilt of failing to protect her back then, completely compounded by his failure to protect her today, crushed him.

Samuel lowered his head, his broad shoulders slumping as his dark eyes turned incredibly downcast.

"I am really sorry," Samuel whispered, his deep voice thick with genuine remorse.

Hearing the profound guilt in his tone, Heena paused. She looked at his miserable expression, then covered her mouth, letting out a soft, exasperated sigh. She really couldn’t stay mad at this giant of a man.

"What are you even sorry for?" Heena chuckled softly. She reached out, playfully pinching his cheek. "Fine, fine. I have forgiven you. Now, enough with all this depressing nonsense. Let’s finish the food! Look how good it all is."

She pointed eagerly at the lavish spread still sitting on the table.

Samuel frowned, his worry instantly flaring up again. "But you are not feeling well, right? You were just feeling completely dizzy and nauseous in the hallway. Are you sure you should eat?"

Heena completely dismissed his concern, waving her hand airily. "Of course I am feeling well! The dizziness is just because I haven’t been eating much lately." She pointed proudly at herself. "Do you have any idea how hard a lady has to work to remain this gorgeous? I was merely fasting! It takes an incredible amount of effort to maintain this level of beauty."

She picked up her silver chopsticks. "Now, stop ruining my mood and let’s eat."

Samuel just let out a heavy, incredibly fond sigh. He looked at his wife, absolutely mesmerized by her energy.

"You know," Samuel said softly, his voice completely earnest. "You look beautiful no matter what. Even if you stopped fasting... even if you became incredibly chubby, you would still be the most gorgeous woman in the world to me."

Heena stopped chewing. She slowly turned her head, looking at him with an expression of pure, unadulterated disgust.

"Listen here," Heena warned, pointing her chopstick at him. "Do not use that absolute nonsense on me, okay? You men all say the exact same thing, but the second a woman actually becomes ugly or gains weight, you are the very first ones to cheat."

Samuel physically recoiled, looking as if she had just insulted his entire bloodline. His absolute propriety and terrifying devotion had been questioned!

"I would definitely not!" Samuel declared loudly, his voice echoing in the empty pavilion. He placed his massive hand over his heart. "If you want, I will swear a blood oath right now! If I ever hate my wife, or if I ever look at another woman in my entire life, I will suffer a ten-thousand-fold death!"

Heena looked at him, entirely unfazed by his dramatic, deadly vow.

"Fine," Heena shrugged casually, popping a piece of duck into her mouth. "Swear however many deadly oaths you want. Just remember this: if ’you’ ever become ugly or fat in the future, do not come crying to me."

Samuel blinked, completely thrown off. "Wait... absolutely, I will maintain myself, but..."

"Well," Heena added ruthlessly, a wicked smirk on her face. "I would definitely despise you if you became ugly. After all, a flawlessly beautiful lady like me only loves incredibly handsome guys. It is just a fact of life."

Samuel stared at her in absolute, earth-shattering disbelief.

"I literally just swore a deadly oath of eternal devotion for you!" Samuel sputtered, entirely betrayed.

Heena just gave him a searing, mocking gaze, thoroughly enjoying his misery.

"Well, that is ’your’ problem, not mine," she teased mercilessly. "I did not force you to like me, did I? You swore that oath entirely on your own. Do I look like I care?"

Samuel let out a long, defeated groan, burying his face in his hands.

"You are really learning from your master entirely too fast," Samuel muttered, referring to the terrifying Grandmother who had just given her a masterclass in marital manipulation.

"Of course," Heena stated proudly, lifting her chin. "I am an exceptionally good student."

Sitting there, looking at his beautiful, completely ruthless, and highly manipulative wife, Samuel came to a very grim, very sudden realization.

’I need to find the Grandfather immediately,’ Samuel thought to himself, a cold sweat breaking out on his neck. ’I need to officially accept him as my master. I absolutely cannot live my life without this woman... and if this ruthless wife ever abandons me, who on earth would want a discarded, heartbroken shadow guard like me?’

With a heavy, utterly helpless sigh, the terrifying shadow guard picked up his chopsticks and obediently began serving his wife her dinner.

God knows when the system appeared beside her, but it suddenly spoke up. "You look quite happy, Host."

Startled, Heena dropped her chopsticks with a clatter. Samuel looked up at the sudden noise and asked, "What happened?"

Heena quickly shook her head, flashing him a sweet smile. "Nothing. I just looked at your handsome face and lost my mind for a second."

Samuel covered his flushed face with a hand. "Please stop teasing and eat something," he muttered.

Heena’s smile remained frozen in place, but her inner voice turned venomous as she shouted in her mind, ’You damn system, do you really want me to delete you, you fucking moron?!’

The system trembled slightly. "Now what did I do?!"
