Chapter 567: Chapter 562: Ji Ning Side Story (Part 2)

When the suction came again, Ji Ning witnessed the possessed female warrior being killed by an enemy’s shell.

War is like a meat grinder, mercilessly harvesting life after life.

When she opened her eyes again, young Ji Ning had already taken refuge in the mountain forest with the old professor.

And they were being hunted by that group of beasts.

But the invader and the little boy were no longer there.

Once again, she saw the old professor die tragically in front of her.

She didn’t understand why the power that brought her through time was so cruel.

Forcing her to endure separation and sorrow over and over again, powerless.

She saw young Ji Ning running toward that area, pulling out earrings and clutching them in her hand, her mind influenced by the special energy there.

She saw the earrings in her palm pierce her skin, oozing dark red blood.

Because of this blood, the two earrings finally reacted.

She heard a little boy’s voice coming from the earrings.

"Verifying host gene, gene correct, initiating host binding."

"Level 5 Civilization Smart Brain AQ19-13690 successfully activated, initiating host self-defense function."

Immediately, a white light emitted from her earrings, enveloping young Ji Ning, healing her wounds, and fending off the attacks.

But young Ji Ning did not wake up as in the images of memory, nor did she pursue those people.

"Boss, look quickly—"

"What is that thing?"

"Is it a mirage?"

Following their pointed fingers, Ji Ning looked and saw a massive inverted triangular structure suddenly appear in the distant forest.

"Doesn’t matter what it is, go check it out!"

Curiously, those people walked toward the structure and unexpectedly lost consciousness.

It turned out this was the true memory.

Ji Ning touched her earlobe with a bitter smile.

"The earrings?"

Ji Ning anxiously felt her earlobes again and again, but the two earrings were no longer there.

She then remembered her current state and smiled bitterly once more.

Yes, she was already dead.

How could the earrings be here?

Suddenly—

A familiar energy fluctuation appeared in the inverted triangular structure.

A familiar voice echoed: "Mom, I told you she’d be fine, see, she’s already bound to my avatar, right?"

"Kaka, you rascal, if I hadn’t asked for the binding method, were you planning to keep from me that activating the function required her blood?"

"I thought she’d quickly wear it on her ear, and in this chaotic world, injuries are common, so by then..."

"Kaka—"

"I’m sorry, Mom, I was wrong."

The woman glared at him, "Why did she faint?"

"Probably due to excessive blood loss, coupled with the effect of high-level cosmic energy here."

The woman abruptly closed her eyes, as if sensing nearby energy, then suddenly opened them, surprised: "Red Star Stone? There’s Red Star Stone energy here too."

"Mom, I scanned earlier, the Space-Time Stone beneath us is powered by Red and Green Star Stones. But now the Red Star Stone energy is very weak; Green Star Stones are sustaining cosmic traversal. Judging by the specifications, these Green Star Stones were likely crafted by an Advanced Energy Converter, so your suspicion is right—some higher civilization life forms are using the Space-Time Stone to hunt Divine Son Bloodlines from various universes."

The woman’s gaze turned instantly icy, her aura surged although only her Divine Soul was present, but Ji Ning nearby still felt the overwhelming pressure from her.

This was a powerful existence capable of crushing her with just a finger.

After a long pause, she calmed herself, glanced around, and coldly asked, "Why is she alone here? What about Professor Li?"

"Mom, let me check the avatar’s records."

Before long, the little boy returned sheepishly, "Mom, Professor Li was just killed by those people not long ago, and she ran this way to avenge him..."

The woman glared at him again, coldly saying, "Kill them..."

"Yes—"

In Ji Ning’s shock, the little boy’s pupils turned red, and two red lasers swiftly swept toward the group below the altar.

Everyone hit by the lasers seemed to evaporate into thin air, quickly turning into blood, absorbed by the soil.

Only then did the woman look away, intending to jump off the white altar, but was immediately grabbed by the little boy.

"Mom, you are traversing this universe for the second time, and you’re in a state of Divine Soul; you cannot leave here unless you find a suitable body."

"Bring her over here."

The little boy immediately carried young Ji Ning to the white circular altar for treatment.

Suddenly, the woman conjured an object resembling an insect cocoon out of thin air.

The little boy was alarmed: "Mom, be cautious about cosmic rules..."

But the woman glanced at the sky, calmly saying, "If high-level cosmic energy can exist here, naturally a high-level Body Refining Cabin can be brought out as well."

The woman placed young Ji Ning into the insect cocoon, and put two pure Green Star Stones inside.

"Kaka, alter her memory."

"Why, Mom?"

"With her current power so low, frequent visits here could lead to encounters with that invader. Until she grows stronger, this place is best left as her nightmare."

"Alright, Mom, I’ll make up a scary story for her then."

"Mind the severity, not too gory."

"Okay, Mom."

The little boy’s eyes changed colors again, and two yellow lights scanned young Ji Ning’s head.

While improving her body, the woman left here using nearby small animals, seemingly collecting resources.

"Mom, I’ve detected a Third-level Civilization virus spreading in the air," the little boy suddenly said.

"Where’s the source?"

"The Divine Hall, I suspect it might be brought by that invader."

"But the good news is, this virus has the potential to promote physical evolution here, rapidly enhancing strength."

However, the woman’s expression wasn’t pleased, her face somewhat gloomy: "He might be rearing venomous creatures."

"Raising venomous creatures? Why?"

"This planet’s energy is depleting fast; without restraint, it might face a cataclysm in a few centuries. Look at the quantity of Green Star Stones buried under the altar; he probably still enters here searching for Divine Son Bloodlines. But because the time in both universes is different, he doesn’t want this planet to perish too quickly, hence introducing the virus to evolve humans fast."

The little boy’s face fell, exclaiming: "Does that mean 70% of the population might perish?"

The woman was surprised, "That severe?"

"Yes, I’ve tested the virus; once combined with humans here, it only offers a 30% success rate for evolution, while the rest become mindless bodies, like zombies in movies. Not as exaggerated as those, just mobile corpses."

The woman furrowed her brows, again conjuring a black box-like object.

"Mom, be careful with cosmic rules..." The little boy felt a bit helpless.

"We’re still within the Divine Hall range. As long as it doesn’t go beyond, the cosmic rules likely won’t obliterate it."

The woman placed a few Green Star Stones into the black box and buried it deeply under the white altar.

"Activate Third-level defense energy."

Soon, a special invisible energy film rose from the ground, gradually covering the entire area.

Beyond the energy film, thick black fog also rose, surrounding the area covered by the film.

Later, Ji Ning found that whenever an invader came to what was called the Divine Hall, the inverted triangular structure would appear.

Luckily, the energy film hid this, preventing the satellites above from uncovering the secret here.
