Chapter 531: Chapter 526: Green Star Stone
Energy Research Center - Core Laboratory.
The old man stood with Ji Ning on the transparent corridor of the second floor, looking at the huge energy reaction pool below.
He introduced, "I didn’t expect you to discover this. This is an unknown energy source found on a planet before the chaos. Later, I learned it’s an energy mineral born from the universe, called Green Star Stone."
"Learned from the lips of gods?" Ji Ning asked.
The old man pressed his lips, silent, with a sense of superiority from being favored by gods, making Ji Ning want to disrespect him with a punch.
"The energy your gods used to transform me, it’s from this, isn’t it?" Ji Ning asked again.
The old man glanced at her, "How could it be the same? This is just the lowest quality Green Star Stone. The Holy Light used to transform you is much purer, otherwise why would you possess so many superpowers?"
"Isn’t it because I’m exceptionally gifted, a once-in-a-millennium talent?"
The old man gave her a sideways look, quickening his pace to the stairs, preparing to go down.
The researchers beside the reaction pool are fully equipped, but the old man wears nothing, as if the energy radiation below has no effect on him.
"This radiation is nothing to us of this level," the old man said over his shoulder, pressing the protective door’s open button.
Ji Ning quickly followed, the familiar energy fluctuations causing every pore on her body to open instantly, greedily absorbing the green energy from the reaction pool.
"Commander Ji, restrain yourself. Our planet doesn’t have much of this energy." The old man turned to remind.
Ji Ning glanced at him: "Does Region 318217 not have it either?"
The old man paused, a trace of irritation on his face, "Because of your foolish subordinates, the Divine Domain hasn’t been opened for a long time."
Ji Ning knew what he was going to say, feeling quite displeased: "What Divine Domain? Just a bunch of pretentious people creating illusions."
The old man, furious, turned and glared at Ji Ning: "Commander Ji, you must not disrespect the gods!"
Ji Ning didn’t want to argue over such meaningless content here, she pressed her lips and looked towards the reaction pool ahead.
She doesn’t know why she was chosen and transformed into the Son of God, but she knows the technology shown in Region 318217 has surpassed the knowledge of this planet.
That’s why Quell Vis would honor those people as gods.
But to an atheist like her, any existence beyond understanding is very likely the miracle of high-dimensional technology.
For instance, the scenes she and Quell Vis saw in that area were entirely different, very likely their memories had been altered by those extraterrestrial species.
And this also proves that the information Ye Xingyan shared with her about extraterrestrial civilizations is real.
Just the intercepted data says advanced civilizations will arrive on the planet in hundreds of years, then what is currently present?
Could it really be a planet locater deployed in advance?
If that is so, why would they give her earrings and cause her, along with all creatures of the planet, to evolve?
Ji Ning was very puzzled.
Could there be two groups of extraterrestrial civilizations?
"What do you mean by saying the Divine Domain has not opened in a long time?" Ji Ning walked quickly forward, arriving beside the old man to ask.
The old man, looking at the green light emanating from the reaction pool, answered in a rather good mood, "The energy to maintain the Divine Domain is limited, it automatically closes every once in a while and then reopens. Didn’t K show you the weather map?"
"Are you talking about the big vortex?"
"Yes, when that area shows a big vortex, it indicates the Divine Domain has closed."
"How do you know?"
The old man looked her over profoundly, sitting cross-legged by the reaction pool, absorbing a bit of the energy inside.
Ji Ning was surprised to find the wrinkles on his face had become shallower, his vitality seemed enhanced.
With eyes shut, the old man said, "That area is difficult for ordinary superpower users to enter, but easy for those of our level."
"How many times have you entered?"
"None, I attempted to find the Divine Domain but it refuses me entry. You must understand that for a believer who has served the gods all life, being abandoned by them is incredibly painful."
"Focus on the point," Ji Ning said with some impatience.
The old man opened one eye, gave her a faint look, and continued, "Because I often visit there, I found that region’s black fog thins every few years, increasing some energy in the air, quickly enhancing nearby creatures’ abilities and making them unusually violent. I’ve encountered a 10th Rank Mutant Tiger, its intelligence equivalent to a human five-year-old, able to control superpowers."
Ji Ning’s expression tightened, she had not yet encountered such high-level mutant beasts.
The old man closed his eyes again, saying flatly, "During this time, the vortex on the weather map disappears, and the Divine Domain opens."
"How long will it open for?"
"The time is indefinite. You mistakenly intruded as a child during its longest opening. If I am not mistaken, it opened for about half a year. Then it closed for a long 10 years, re-opening when you ordered weapons fired towards it, that opened for around 3 months before closing for another more than 10 years. Later, the intervals of closure grew longer, and the opening periods shorter. Now, I don’t know when it will open again..."
"The most recent opening was when?" Ji Ning asked.
The old man remained silent for a long time, seeming asleep, the energy fluctuations on him already vanished, making Ji Ning think he indeed had fallen asleep, before he spoke: "About 40 years ago, John Josen’s clan almost entered the Divine Domain..."
"So the mutated plant used to manufacture Immortal People chip might have been obtained from the Divine Domain?"
"It’s a high-level mutated plant near the Divine Domain. The gods don’t like such sinful families."
When talking about the Josen Family, the old man’s tone was thick with disdain.
Opening his eyes again, standing from the floor, he said to Ji Ning, "Next time the Divine Domain opens, I predict it’s within 5 years, if it opens this time, I shall accompany you."
Ji Ning looked at him with a light smile: "Can’t your Time Ability foresee this?"
"For future events, I can only see some brief, disjointed fragments, which change at any time, unlike the clear vision of the past," the old man said flatly, gesturing her forward.
Ji Ning knew they should leave now, without lingering.
They ascended the stairs again, returning to the transparent corridor of the second floor.
The old man led her to the analysis center of the Energy Research zone.
Here is another huge screen, playing surveillance videos of catastrophic events happening worldwide.
There are tsunamis, earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions...
Beside each screen, several values are changing.
The old man stood before the large screen with hands behind his back, gazing upwards, saying to Ji Ning, "For weak humans, disasters occur at all times. It’s the gods’ punishment for human greed, and a test of evolution. Only by truly conquering natural disasters, can mankind free themselves from humanity’s shackles and evolve into new humans. Commander Ji, you are presently the new human."
