Chapter 364: Chapter 362: Why Have We Become Like This? 4
Brother and sister, through and through. They even had the same way of coping with a broken heart.
Ashley Grant downed one glass of alcohol after another, as if she had a death wish.
Lucy Locke watched her drink, completely exasperated. "Do you really have to go this far? Just a while ago, you were acting so high and mighty, like you were on top of the world. Now you’re here drinking yourself into a stupor. What happened? Did you get dumped?"
"Do you ever shut up? Just piss off, will you?" Ashley Grant said irritably, pouring herself another glass.
Lucy Locke just watched her.
Ashley Grant was wearing a loose white t-shirt, high-waisted denim shorts, and a pair of pure white high-top canvas sneakers.
She had short, wavy, light brown hair. The bar’s sultry lights played across her face as she slumped over the counter, exuding an air that was at once fresh, charismatic, and languid.
Looking around the bar, it was hard to find another woman who could instantly grab your attention like Ashley Grant. She didn’t need makeup, colored contacts, or flashy, revealing clothes. With her perfectly balanced figure, she was one of a kind.
’This girl... so beautiful at such a young age, and she looks so put-together. Too bad she has a screw loose.’
She clicked her tongue in disdain and raised an eyebrow. "Alright, that’s enough. I’m not supposed to be in a place like this. My uncle is super strict, and if he finds out, I’m dead meat. Can we please go home now?"
"You can go ahead and leave."
"Tch. Every time you tell me to leave, you just end up calling me back when there’s trouble. You think I can rest easy letting you go home alone when you’re this drunk? Holy shit!"
Lucy Locke had barely finished her sentence when Ashley, without any warning, spat a mouthful of alcohol all over her.
She leaped to her feet, staring at the stain on her clothes as she let loose a stream of curses. "Fuck! Are you out of your fucking mind? I told you not to drink, but you just had to keep going! And now you spit all over me. You did that on purpose, didn’t you?!"
Ashley Grant just kept drinking as if nothing had happened.
Lucy Locke shot her a glare and hurried toward the restroom. "Drink up! When I get back, I’m dragging you home!"
Ashley Grant downed another glass, then slumped over the counter, weighed down by her thoughts.
’My sister-in-law got together with Aaron. She doesn’t want my brother anymore.’
’If my brother and my sister-in-law aren’t together, then Ryan and I are doomed too.’
’Ryan is only with me because he doesn’t know I’m the second daughter of the Grant Family. If he found out, we’d definitely have no future together.’
’And to top it all off, there’s Kiera Keane, who’s always lingering around like a ghost. It’s so damn annoying.’
Another glass was filled. As a figure appeared in her blurry vision, Ashley looked up.
Ryan Linton stood there with one hand in his pocket, staring down at her with a blank expression.
The multicolored lights overhead cast a mesmerizing pattern of colors across his face.
The young man before her was wearing a white shirt, just like hers, and cropped trousers. The simple outfit gave him the air of a manga character, yet it couldn’t conceal his innate nobility.
On the surface, he appeared expressionless, but in reality, his mind was in utter chaos.
’Didn’t she promise she wouldn’t come to a sketchy dive like this? And yet, here she is again!’
’Something’s bound to happen if she stays here. It’s a good thing I showed up. What would she have done if she’d gotten into danger?!’
Ashley Grant froze for a moment. Then, her eyes began to well up as she turned her head away and reached for her drink again.
However, the anticipated bitterness never touched her lips. The glass was snatched from her hand. Ryan Linton, his face dark, demanded, "Ashley Grant, who told you you could come to a place like this?"
She lowered her gaze, remaining silent.
"Gone mute?"
He had been searching for her like a madman for four days, and he never imagined she’d be hiding out here!
Ashley Grant said nothing. She poured another drink, only for it to be snatched away again. Then, a strong hand yanked her to her feet, and she was being dragged toward the exit.
