Chapter 37: Chapter 32: Art of Bullshitting
The boys led the way with Leonel and Dean behind them. They had done so as they wanted to create an illusion that they were their subordinates. They opened the door to the dungeon and entered inside while releasing their bloodline pressure.
As soon as they entered, the dungeon became silent. Every subject kneeled at the same time and yelled, "We greet the Supreme Gods."
After reeling in his bloodline pressure, Zeke waved his hands and the subjects got up. He said, "I have good news. We have finally found a way to rectify your sorry existence. The sacrifice of your kin has not been in vain. You, who were born with the lineages of two failures, shall have the chance to be reborn and rise above your forefathers.
This is divine grace that we shall bestow upon you. But remember, although our benevolence is as vast as the oceans, so is the depth of our rage. Only the faithful shall transform. If your faith is not pure, then you will die a painful death.
[A good lie always holds some truth.
-Art of Bullshitting, Ezekiel Ashbourne]
Even among you all, there is one Angel that has proved his faith and he shall receive the divine grace first."
Cass said, "Mael, come forward."
Mael came before them with a pious expression on his face and kneeled. If one looked at him, they would notice that he was shaking. It wasn’t due to fear but excitement. Mael was a Saint and had complete trust in his Supreme Gods.
Even if they were to kill him right now, he was sure that there was a reason behind it. Or that his faith simply wasn’t pure enough. He wasn’t excited because he had the chance to be reborn but because his Supreme Gods remembered his existence. His puny existence among so many ants.
[Mael was a nutjob. But a capable nutjob.]
The boys focused and activated the skill: Primogenitors’ Pantheon. As soon as they did that, a System message appeared in front of them.
’Creation of a Pantheon detected.’
’Scanning for the presence of other active Pantheons in the vicinity.’
’None found.’
’Pantheon Creators are detected to be members of the Faction: Earth Federation.’
’Notifying the leader of the Faction: Earth Federation of the creation of a Pantheon.’
At the same time, Dean also received a System message.
’A Pantheon is being created by a Myth of your Faction.’
’A huge amount of FAITH towards the Myth: Twin Arbiters of Equilibrium has been detected.’
’Warning: The creation of this Pantheon will grant the Creators the same status as the leader of the Faction.’
’Will you allow the creation of this Pantheon?’
’Y/N’
Dean chose yes without any hesitation. There were two reasons for that. First, it was necessary for the Federation’s victory. Second, the boys were family and he had gotten to know them well while training them. He had enough trust in them that they wouldn’t abuse their position for personal gain. When he had chosen yes, another System message popped up in front of the boys.
’The leader of the Faction: Earth Federation has allowed the creation of this Pantheon.’
’All conditions have been satisfied.’
’Name your Pantheon.’
Both boys became silent. Their naming sense sucked and they knew it. They sent a mana transmission to both Dean and Leonel, ’We need to name our Pantheon. Any suggestions?’
Dean and Leonel both thought hard. Dean suggested simply naming it the Neo-Nephilim Pantheon but the boys wanted something grander. Leonel sent a mana voice transmission, ’Why not name it Aurevion? It is your other identity.’
The boys thought about it and agreed with him. They said, "Aurevion", together.
’Are you sure that you want to name your Pantheon Aurevion?’
’Y/N’
The boys chose yes.
’Creating the Aurevion Pantheon.’
Then, invisible to the ordinary eye, a vortex of Faith energy started spinning over the boys’ heads. Previously, the Faith energy that their believers generated had been like a ball of tangled yarn. Although they were able to receive it with their Totems, it was inefficient.
But now, that tangled ball was being untangled. The boys could see billions of threads of Faith reaching them from all over the Federation. But it didn’t stop there. These threads started weaving themselves into a cloth. Except, it wasn’t a cloth but their Pantheon. When this process was completed, they felt that they had connected to a separate space...a different dimension.
They looked at each other in surprise. Then they looked at Leonel and Dean but they had no such expression on their faces. It seemed that they had not seen the Faith vortex and threads. They then remembered why they were there. They looked at the kneeling Mael in front of them. They decided that they would check their Pantheon out later and focused on him.
As they activated the skill: Primogenitors’ Pantheon once more, they instinctively knew what they had to do. Their eyes and totem started glowing, their Aureliarcs became visible, and their wings unfurled. They had gained an otherworldly charm in that moment. They said in a solemn voice, "Arise...to Aurevion."
As they did, Faith started funnelling into Mael’s body through the Faith thread that belonged to him. It formed a cocoon around his body. An hour later, the cocoon disappeared and revealed the body of a 10 year old Neo-Nephilim. He had Mael’s face but there were some subtle changes. His features had become more sharp. His eyes were the same as the boys and so was his hair, at least before they went through their latest transformation.
Mael stood up and examined the changes that he had gone through. He was stunned because of the drastic change that he had gone through. He once again kneeled and said, "I thank the Supreme Gods for the divine grace that you have bestowed upon me."
Zeke said, "You are now a proud Neo-Nephlim. How do you feel?"
Mael hesitated for a while and said, "My Lord, it seems that I am unawakened and need to go through the first Ascension Trial."
Cass said, "A small price to pay. At least you aren’t a failure anymore."
Zeke said, "As you all can see, Mael has become a Neo-Nephilim. Mael, release your bloodline pressure."
Mael did as he was told. All of the subjects felt fear upon sensing that aura. But along with the fear, they also became hopeful. They were hopeful because they also had a chance to transform into Neo-Nephilims.
Zeke had an idea and sent a mana transmission to Cass, ’Instead of just the 1027 Fanatics, we will attempt to transform an additional 13 subjects.’
Cass was surprised and said, ’But they would die. And it would be a gruesome death.’
Zeke replied, ’That is the point. They will die because their Faith is not pure. Or at least that is what we will tell the subjects. Don’t forget that we’re playing God with them. We need to show them both grace and anger.’
Cass became silent. He said, ’Let’s do it but promise me something.’
Zeke asked, ’What?’
Cass said, ’Promise me that you will always remember that we are just playing God and are not actually one. Promise that you won’t get drunk on this power.’
Zeke replied, ’Of course. Now let’s get to work.’
Zeke said, "Now we will transform those who we deem worthy. If their Faith is pure, then they will succeed. If not, then you will see what happens to them."
They activated the skill and said, "Arise...to Aurevion"
The same process that happened with Mael happened with the selected subjects. Soon, 1040 cocoons were formed. Another hour passed and the cocoons disappeared. In their place, 1027 Neo-Nephilims remained. As for the rest 13, they had turned into a puddle of blood.
Before the boys could say anything, Mael said, "My brethren, as you can see, those 13 didn’t survive because their Faith wasn’t pure. On the other hand, a majority of you did because you wholeheartedly believe in the Supreme Gods. ALL HAIL THE SUPREME GODS!"
The rest of the subjects, especially the Fanatics that had transformed, yelled together, "ALL HAIL THE SUPREME GODS!"
There were many happy people in the dungeon at that moment but perhaps the happiest of them all was none other than Leonel. He could feel the presence of multiple Life Sigils in the dungeon and barely held himself back from activating them.
Zeke looked at all of the Neo-Nephilims and said, "Do not undergo your first Ascension Trial unless you’re told to. We will soon send a message."
After saying this, the boys along with Dean and Leonel left the dungeon. As soon as they reached the lab, Dean started laughing like a madman. He did that a lot. Leonel also joined him. The boys just stared at them waiting for them to finish.
After they were done laughing, Zeke said, "Grandpa, we will leave their training to you. Give them about a month to get used to their new bodies, then arrange a place for them to undergo their first Ascension Trial. Tell them that it’s an order from us that they must perfectly pass it. Even if they have to die.
After that record the details of their Trials. We need to create a database for the babies so that we can make a training plan for them. Uncle Dean, get them clean identities. Just say that they are a tribe that was newly discovered by Neo-Nephilim Pharmaceuticals and have become a part of the Federation. Two or three years later, they will join the War Academy."
Leonel looked at the boys and asked, "And what are you going to do?"
Zeke said, "We will be going into seclusion until we achieve 5 Stars in MANA and SPIRIT stats."
