Chapter 107: Chapter 101: The Trial

Everyone in Murim who practiced the Neo-Nephilim Totemic Ascension, no matter their race or strength, lost consciousness, and a cocoon formed around them. Even the children who hadn’t practiced it also lost consciousness and were covered in a cocoon.

The rest of Murim began disintegrating into golden specks of light and joined the Faith beam, even the core. Finally, the cocoons floating in the void also entered the Faith beam.

Then, Zeke flew up toward the World Gate and entered it. He appeared in a blank space.

A System Window appeared in front of him:

’Mission: Become the Heavenly Demon’

’Status: Complete.’

’Calculating Rewards.’

’Cal#;+;₹’

’Error!’

’Error!’

’Error!’

’Cannot calculate rewards.’

’Requesting Administrator intervention.’

’Creating a Causality Free Zone.’

’A System Administrator has entered the Causality Free Zone.’

Suddenly, Zeke found himself in a strange place. He couldn’t make any sense of it. To him, it appeared as if there was nothing and everything at the same time. It was disorienting. The worst part was that he felt incredibly disconnected. Zeke had been here before—the time he had met the Administrator.

A man appeared in front of him. He still had no specific facial features, but Zeke could just tell it was the same Administrator he had met before.

The man said, "Sup, fuckturd. Enjoying my little present?"

The man, System Administrator #86253463, roared, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!!"

Zeke chuckled and said, "I guess you didn’t. Meh, it’s alright. You weren’t supposed to."

The Administrator said, "You seriously have no idea how royally fucked you are, do you?"

Zeke replied, "Oh really, why don’t you tell me?"

The Administrator was about to say something but paused. He just smiled and disappeared.

Zeke’s surroundings shifted, and he appeared in what seemed to be a courtroom. There were nine people sitting in the judges’ seats.

The one in the middle said, "I am System Administrator #1."

Zeke, a bit confused, replied, "...And I am—"

He was interrupted by Administrator #1, "—Ezekiel Ashbourne, the Asuran Neo-Nephilim Primogenitor. You have been brought here for an investigation into the disappearance of Independent Plane #639379. And you have committed some serious crimes in the past."

Zeke fully released his killing intent.

He said, "Crimes? What crimes? Helping my faction? No, I guess you mean the fucking with Time and Fate part."

One of the judges in the corner said, "You will not disrespect us."

Zeke replied, "Or what? You’ll kill me? Go ahead. I dare you to."

The man became silent.

Zeke continued, "That’s what I thought. You System Administrators are so quick to label me as a criminal when actually, you’re just trying to hide your incompetence.

I fucked with Time and Fate? Me? I was unawakened. I couldn’t even wield mana, and my actions somehow messed up two of the quintessential forces of the universe? Does that even make any sense?

As for the disappearance of Murim, it isn’t missing. We all know where it is right now."

Administrator #1 said, "Let’s calm down a littl—"

This time, Zeke interrupted him and said, "Who forbids doing what I did? Tell me. Is it the System? The creators of the System? Hell, is it even forbidden, or did just nobody have the balls to pull it off?

What, you thought you could fuck with me and I would just take it? If it is so forbidden, then why is it even possible?"

The Administrators were silent. Before, they had dismissed Zeke’s case to the Administrator in charge, but now they had to take him seriously. They could see no fear in his eyes.

And Zeke wasn’t done yet. "Go on. Destroy my timeline. I’m sure that Time wouldn’t mind."

Administrator #1 said, "You don’t understand. These rules exist for a reason."

Zeke replied, "I’m sure that they do. But this all started because of a skill that the System gave me. If it hadn’t, then we wouldn’t be in this mess. Ergo, none of this is my fault. It’s yours. The very existence of that skill makes these rules void. Besides, you still haven’t answered. Where does it say that it is forbidden to do what I did? Or are you just scared because it hasn’t been done before?"

The Administrators remained silent.

Zeke said, "Wait, you could just undo it all, unless... you can’t.

Holy shit. It all makes sense now. Why there were no immediate repercussions, why my Faith worked in Murim, or even my Myth. The System didn’t grant any of it. It was just the messenger, wasn’t it?"

The Administrators’ expressions changed.

Zeke said, "Oh, did I say something I wasn’t supposed to? You old fucks have been too arrogant for too long. Maybe I should file a formal complaint. I’m sure having a Myth gives me that much authority, at least."

Administrator #1 said, "What do you want?"

Zeke said, "Let’s change locations first, shall we? I don’t like..." He motioned toward his surroundings and said, "... this."

Administrator #1 waved his hand, and the surroundings changed. From a courtroom, it became a blank room with a round table.

Zeke said, "Good. Now, I want to know about my brother’s Ascension Trial."

Administrator #1 nodded, and Cass suddenly appeared beside Zeke. He punched Zeke, but Zeke dodged.

Zeke said, "Woah, chill."

Cass exclaimed, "Zeke?" He looked around and asked, "Where am I?"

Zeke said, "It’s good to see you too. We’ll talk later. First, I need to deal with the fuckers who messed up my trial."

Cass asked, "You too? An Administrator forced me to choose the Transcendent Primogenitor difficulty."

Zeke’s killing intent peaked. He said, in an emotionless voice, "Oh really?"

Cass got goosebumps. He could almost see a hellscape of corpses and smell the sickening stench of blood and decay.

He thought, ’What the hell happened during his trial?’

Zeke said, "Now, I have a list of demands, or else I will file a complaint against not only that fucker but all of you as well."

Administrator #1 said, "I will fulfill them as long as they are reasonable. But know this, if they are too unreasonable, you can file the complaint, and I still won’t give a fuck."
