Chapter 1643: 1643. As for Edward Smith, his hands are just not clean.
Adam Jones thought about the real mastermind behind the poisoning of Helen Melendy that he hadn’t yet discovered, and he spoke:
"Investigate it. No matter which member of the Smith Family it involves, get it all sorted out for me."
"Yes."
Afterwards, Adam Jones held the materials in front of him and fell into a brief silence.
The troublemaker Auston encountered over there with his wife was undoubtedly Johnson Fefferman. This matter wasn’t difficult to resolve.
But the Smith Family...
This was a rather tricky family, lingering in the gray area between legal and illegal activities. To call them criminals would be inaccurate, as all their businesses were entirely legitimate, leaving no trace of wrongdoing to be found.
However, to say they were completely innocent would also be inaccurate.
Take Edward Smith, for example; his hands weren’t clean.
He hadn’t expected so many issues to drag the Smith Family, a group with no prior connections to them, into this mess.
And how did Helen Melendy, someone who grew up in an orphanage, become entangled with the Smith Family?
What interest did the Smith Family have in someone who had no significant ties to them?
Adam Jones had instructed his subordinates to investigate this matter. Since it had been determined that someone from the Smith Family was involved, it was only a matter of time before they found out. He wasn’t in a hurry.
At present, he was most concerned about his wife’s health condition.
That afternoon, after handling his work, Adam worried that his workaholic wife might change her mind at the last minute, so he went to Campbell Corp to catch her before the day’s end.
Elly Campbell was somewhat speechless by his actions, "It’s just a health check-up, not committing murder or arson. Would I go back on my word?"
"If it were murder or arson, I wouldn’t be this nervous."
Adam Jones snorted coldly; the woman he married had never understood herself clearly.
Elly was slightly speechless, but she complied with his wishes and went home with him.
Their luggage was already prepared, and the private plane was waiting on the helipad in the backyard.
It seemed that if she had changed her mind, Adam might have actually tied her up to get her onto the plane.
Since they were going for a health check, they didn’t plan many activities. After doing various examinations at the hospital, some reports that weren’t immediately available would need another day. The two of them could take this time to relax.
Meanwhile, Elly had asked the Old Master Campbell to send someone to investigate Chloe Turner’s background, and she received an email that day. All the investigation results regarding Chloe Turner were now in her hands.
By the next day, the results from hospitals across the United States matched those from home: Elly was in good health, with only some minor suboptimal health issues that weren’t worrisome, as long as she maintained a good diet and stayed healthy.
Elly wasn’t surprised by this result, but the findings the Old Masters had unearthed left her a little startled.
The people sent by Grandpa to investigate were professionals in underground intelligence. Regardless of anything else, they were certainly capable of investigating someone’s background and life experiences.
Yet, the results showed that Chloe Turner was perfectly clean, with nothing unusual apart from her exceptional intelligence.
The family was simple, with parents, an older brother, and a sister. After Chloe went to the United States for school, she hadn’t kept much contact with them.
So, either Chloe Turner truly had no problems, and her health was indeed fine, or Elly was simply overthinking.
