Chapter 421: Purgatory

Tracy ignored the third ding as another message popped on her screen. She had a feeling that it had something to do with the God of War. that man loved chaos, blood and fight. As long as there was blood, that man would be the first to be there. And given that they were staying so close to the warded space, where a witch had tried to control an amorphous, Tracy was not even surprised that the God of War was going off the charts.

You cannot ignore me all the time, little witch.

Another message popped on the screen and Tracy snorted. She knew that she could not ignore these people for long; the goddess of magic was going haywire. There was too much trouble and she was blindsided. Even if she was not willing to admit that witches had escaped her control, the truth was that she could sense that things were no longer under her control and boy, she was not happy.

And every time the gods were unhappy, something went awry in every sense. The last time something went off the charts, purgatory had to take place. Things were ruined, capitals destroyed and lives were taken away. A sight that Tracy was not willing to see or remember. It was a good thing that Tao was having one of his loudest baths in his life. The constant dripping of water droplets on the floor was the kind of white noise that helped in easing the headaches that were rising in her head at the moment.

Darn these idiots. They all were just causing trouble for her.

Special reminder that you are almost crossing the magic limitations.

You might cause another purge. Please be in control.

Fates cannot rewind time.

Fates are watching you.

Fate. fate. Fate.

Damn the damn motherfucker. Sure enough, she should have thought things through; she should have come up with another plan. A plan where she was working alone, where the fates of others were not tied with her own. Now that the fates were watching her, with witnesses scattered all over, there was little that Tracy could do. It would have been better to do this thing alone; the fates wouldn’t be so alert.

"I got it, I got it." Tracy rubbed the space between her brows as she ignored the notification as well. "These damned fates—"

’It’s better to not say anything about the fates,’ warned Jacob when he saw that his master was about to curse the fates. His red-gem-eyes glinted with a reddish hue as he added, the fates will not like it, you know what happened the last time you cursed the fates?

Tracy snorted. "Was it because I cursed the fate or was it because someone was angry with me because I called her an old cow for interfering with my matters?"

The goddess of fate asked her to settle down and get married to a man, telling her that it was the biggest blessing for a woman to enter the sacred temple of marriage and in exchange she called the woman an old cow. And what was the greatest way to start a day after calling the goddess of fate an old cow? For a week, she had to spend dogging the streets because the crows could not find another better stop to shit than her head.

Absolutely phenomenal. Magical if you ask her.

"I know." Tracy stopped speaking as she threw her watch on the tea table. She could not risk it. If the purge started, then it would be the end of it all. Inez was not even close to understanding her power; she did not even know what she could do if she were to unleash what was hidden inside of her.

She had so much to do: teach that girl how to control her powers, and tell her what she was and find out how the hell a shifter ended up having the child of the siren king. And why in the world did that woman never open her damned mouth and tell the truth to Inez? because this was not something that woman was supposed to keep to herself. This was not the talk about the bees and butterflies that Inez’s mother was having a hard time bringing up.

But before that she had to trace the Morga. And the only source was Dominic, the man who hated her guts and barely enough magical fate with that woman. How? She had no idea. But he was her best bet.

The sound of the water got cut off and the sudden silence made her head ache even more. The world was too quiet and the silence was jarring. The connections that she established with Dominic were too simple—that man couldn’t help her finding the destination that she was looking for. Morga was too cunning and if she moved again, it would be hard to dig her out.

"Maybe I need to make a physical connection with that man."

"What are you talking about?"

She did not even bother racing her head to look at Tao. he was done showering and his tower-like presence was now looming over her head. "Dominic. I need to provoke the magic within him. He is too latent and dormant. As a shifter, the magical whirlpool within him is too small and I need to inject some of my own mana to make it stir. He cannot do it and without the mana from him, I cannot trace the source of it. I still cannot believe that he, of all the people, ended up sharing a magical connection with Morga."

"Who’s Morga?"

"The current leader of the witches." Tracy did not even think twice before telling the truth to Tao; anyway, his fate was not entangled with hers. Even if she were to take precautions, nothing good was going to come out of it. She might as well go with the flow.

However, as soon as she finished speaking, there was a weird sound as if something had fallen on the floor, and she could not help but frown. She raised her head and looked at the man whose eyes were as wide as saucers.

"What?"
