Chapter 472: Chapter 472 - Previous Life

"After I reincarnated into my second world, I felt a bit awkward at first...my idea of family was pretty skewed, and the people who were my new family, I was more than a little wary of them to begin with. But then, they turned out to be good people, and I grew up really happy," I remarked, as I moved onto the next Chapter of my story.

"Hey, that’sh nice, I’m glad you got a good family in your shecond life, at leasht," Celestia smiled in response.

"Thanks, I appreciate you saying that. Also, how drunk are you? You’re slurring a whole lot," I replied in bemusement.

"No, I’m not that drunk. I jusht shlur a lot when I drink...booshe makesh my tongue feel funny," She grinned sheepishly.

Uh...is she maybe slightly allergic to alcohol?

"Maybe you should be a bit more conservative with your drinking, Celestia."

"Nah, I don’t wanna do that."

"Okay, if you say so."

"Sho, what happened next?" She asked me curiously.

"Well, things were good for a while, but that didn’t last," I replied, before continuing with the story of my second life.

How the Knights had attacked the village I grew up in and killed my mother, how I’d been enslaved by the then-Commander of the Knights.

I told her how I met Gior and Phyurio, who freed me and gave me the opportunity to kill my captors, sparing only one of them, Prysm, who then joined me.

I continued going through the whole tale, my time as an Adventurer while also being a wanted criminal, my reunion with Argent, as well as meeting Izzy.

As I recapped my past, it really started to hit me just how much had happened in my second life...even though it wasn’t the longest life, it was crazy eventful.

I then got to my time at the Haven, followed by the civil war in Obsidian. How we took over Hematite and formed Arcadia, how we added the Demons and Dragon Kings to our side, and then, the conflict against the Vampires.

And finally, the appearance of the Balancer, which resulted in my demise, and how the Goddess gave me one final day to say goodbye to everyone and how I’d spent it.

By the time I finished, I was feeling pretty emotional, but also, like a bit of a weight have been lifted off my shoulders.

My mind feels clearer, and I’m more at ease...I guess talking about it and getting everything off my chest helped.

Celestia was quiet as I finished, a somber look on her face.

"Uh, you okay?" I inquired in bemusement, poking her shoulder.

"Yeah...that was just a lot to take in. You really went through a lot, didn’t you? Honestly, towards the end, even though I knew that it was going to end with you dying, I found myself rooting for you to survive without even realizing it," She responded, a sympathetic look on her face.

"Guess me being here was kind of a spoiler, huh?" I replied with a wry smile.

"I can’t imagine how you must have felt. You worked so hard to reach your goal of a peaceful life, only for it to end like that..."

"Yeah, I was pretty devastated during that last day. And I doubt I’ll get over it anytime soon, but...I’ve accepted it at this point, and if nothing else, I have plenty of great memories from my life in that world," I sighed wistfully.

"That’s true...based on everything you told me, you had, like, a crazy amount of sex."

"Uh, I mean, that’s not what I exclusively meant, but yeah, I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t a part of it," I laughed sheepishly.

"I feel like I need another drink after that...also, I’m sobering up," She replied, before dipping her mug in the barrel and taking a deep gulp.

"You know, I think I’ll follow your lead, I don’t feel like staying sober after recalling all those memories," I smiled, as I filled my own mug and took a sip, before adding, "Up for another round of meat to go with it?"

"Definitely, no way I’m saying no to that."

"By the way, is it cool if I ask you about your past? No pressure if you’d rather not talk about it, of course."

"Sure, I don’t mind. It’s only fair after you told me about both your past two lives, after all. Though, there’s not a whole lot to tell, you know most of it already. I have no memory of anything before the orphanage I grew up in. It was a rundown old dump, a lot of kids died because we never had enough food and water.

I managed to survive long enough to awaken my Magic, I then broke into a library when it was closed and stole a Grimmoire. I also stole food, clothes and money, I got pretty good at breaking into people’s houses. I mean, I didn’t feel good about it, but I had to do what I needed to in order to survive.

Once I got a decent grasp over my Magic, I decided to become an Adventurer, which was far from easy. But they couldn’t ignore my abilities, and eventually let me register. I was ridiculed and tormented right from day one, a few Adventurers even tried to get me killed by Monsters during my first few Dungeon raids," She remarked with an annoyed sigh.

"Seriously? The Nobles in my second life were pretty horrible, but the Nobles of this world might be slightly worse," I responded in bemusement.

"Yeah, I can’t imagine there being worse people than some of the utter piece of shit Nobles I’ve encountered. Anyway, I obviously survived all that, and steadily got stronger. And as I started to rise up the ranks, the more the Nobles targeted me, I absolutely hated working with them. The only reason any of them even agreed to party with me was because they wanted to use me either as bait or as a pack mule to carry their stuff."

"Sorry you had to go through all that. It couldn’t have been easy," I replied sympathetically. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Nah, it’s nothing compared to what you experienced. Still, I appreciate you saying that," She responded with a smile.
