Chapter 190: Chapter 191: Just This Little Trust
Chapter 190: Chapter 191: Just This Little Trust
Several black-clad Hidden Guards wielding long swords were dispersing the crowd everywhere.
They overturned all the dragon boats and knocked over every table and chair, wreaking havoc like a gang of bandits.
People fled in terror, some falling, some tumbling into the river, and others confronting them, only to be swiftly subdued.
Cries, curses, and screams merged into one.
What was once a lively and harmonious river bank suddenly plunged into chaos and panic.
Su Yan’s footsteps halted abruptly, unable to move forward.
Chu Yuxiao stood in front of her, his back to her, without turning around.
His spine was ramrod straight, and it was clear that he was forcibly holding back his rage.
Su Yan walked up to him powerlessly, her gaze scattered, and said coldly,
“Chu Yuxiao, what is the meaning of this? Are you seeking revenge on me, or do you not care about the well-being of your people?”
He loved his people so much, he would inspect the drought himself.
But now, because of a misunderstanding, because of his dissatisfaction, he wanted to destroy their happiness and assault them, hurt them…
Was this man still the Chu Yuxiao she knew?
Why were his actions so childish, why was he so extreme?
Chu Yuxiao stood with his hands behind his back, his hands tightly clenched, veins throbbing visibly.
He stared intently at the river bank, refusing to look into Su Yan’s eyes.
“Nan Zhao Su Yan, I’ve told you, if you have any restless thoughts, keep them to yourself.
You’d better stay obediently by my side and refrain from provoking me!”
Su Yan heard his threats and also the reason for his anger.
She scoffed coldly and hummed,
“What, did you just think I was cheating on you?
Ha, Chu Yuxiao, so this is the extent of your trust in me.
You’re simply grasping at straws, jumping to conclusions, being irrational and unreasonable!”
“You!” The next second, Chu Yuxiao’s hand was tightly grasping her neck.
He glared at her, his eyes filled with fury.
Su Yan stared back fearlessly into his eyes, her face full of cold defiance.
She thought she understood him, but she was wrong.
