Chapter 750: Showdown Devil VS Demon (part 22)

Though Daimon was taken by surprise due to the previous, he was sensible enough not to interrupt those two since this seemed to be a priceless moment for them, also it’s not like he didn’t have other things to tend to.

"Earlier, the one that blocked those cowardly attacks was you, right?", asked the lioness who descended from the sky, landing in front of Daimon a second later, she had already dissipated the manticore manifestation.

Surprisingly, she didn’t spare a single glance at Marcus’s corpse, it was as if she already knew this was going to be the final result of the fight and had moved over the short-lived employer-employee interaction she had with the devil ruler system user, what’s more Daimon could feel the happiness of the lioness after she killed the snake.

"Yes, but more importantly why have you not left, you can feel it right, there is "someone" waiting for you in that direction", answered Daimon as he pointed at the area where the little tiger girl had fought and must be receiving her appropriate reward as of current, which made the lioness remain silent for a second to then say.

"I... was wondering if I could stay at your side for now instead, until your fights in the blood prison realm end", to which Daimon chuckled in response.

The lioness was quite stubborn, she felt like she owed Daimon for all the help he offered her and wouldn’t be able to stand on equal terms with him until she had repaid her debt, which Daimon didn’t find bad, if that’s what it took her to be finally "free" then it was fine, it was beneficial for him too after all.

"While I wouldn’t mind having another loyal and fierce ally in my team, before we get to that, tell me if this decision was taken because you think you won’t remember what happened here after reuniting with your other half?", he said.

"I’m not the original one, I was created by what the original one sacrificed to that guy and while I broke away from his control thanks to you, so when I reunite with her, I’m pretty sure I will disappear and I’m fine with it, as that will be just me returning to my rightful place, but... I don’t want that to happen before I had done something for my benefactor at least", mumbled the lioness.

She wasn’t afraid of her consciousness disappearing, she was created with the flesh body of the lioness and will become her flesh again, so it’s not like she was "dying", she’ll simply become a part of Reyna again.

"The battles that are left will be on a different scale than this one, honestly the power I obtained through my fight with Marcus is not enough to defeat the next guys I have to deal with, that I know just by instinct, so sure you could stay with me as you are and probably block one or two attacks for me, but I’m not the type to use those that don’t deserve it as shields, so why not try to stand next to me as a teammate instead".

"You see, this place is a mystery even as of current, it offers those that are brave enough to take on an honestly annoyingly harsh challenge to tackle, but that comes with a reward that is eerily tailored to those that manage to surpass said challenge in exchange for the suffering, so who knows, things might not result as you believe", said Daimon.

He wasn’t lying to the lioness, even Lyn’s technique is as of current unable to kill the Lords, because as Badr mentioned their original selves though weakened must be Star Lords now, Arlion and the White family’s ancestor are just clowns in Daimon’s eyes, however Ereth smelled like serious trouble.

His realm might not be as high as the Lords but his methods do surpass them, he is someone that tricked the megalodon general into investing in him, stole the Black Armored Shark’s lineage, was punished by the megalodon and still lived to tell the tale, not to mention he caused the death of both of Freya’s users as well.

In conclusion, in the next fights, the lioness might be able to help Daimon if she is willing to die, which she is, but Daimon is not willing to use her like that, what would be the difference between trash like Marcus and himself if that was the case, especially when there was no need for it.

"If surpassing this "challenge" you speak about is what it takes to not forget, then I promise I will do it, can you tell me your name, for some reason the one I heard from Marcus doesn’t seem to suit you", said the lioness, Marcus knew him as "Gabriel" since that was the name he uses when he is wearing the mask tied to his alter-ego.

With a snap of his fingers, Daimon covered both himself and the lioness in his silver energy, to then say.

"Daimon, my real name is Daimon, I hope to hear yours the next time we see each other".

"Mm, until then, Daimon!", the lioness has never been indecisive, she didn’t waste any more time with words and instead jumped into action by extending her wings to then soar into the sky, turning into a black stream with white bright spot which shot itself towards Dana’s battlefield.

’I would say "good luck" if you... still had a challenge to beat’, amusingly thought Daimon as his eyes shone in a dazzling silvery light for a second, to then turn around, now that the lioness’s matter was settled for the time being at least and since Ariel was much calmer as of current, he could delve into what the hell was going on here.

"Heavens, you are still such a crybaby, it has not been that long since we saw each other, ten thousand years ago was the last time our users coincided, was it?", said the ghost-like administrator as she stroked Ariel’s hair a couple of times.

"Yes... but you indirectly contributed to the death of your host back then, I didn’t know whether you had become a rogue, or if you were punished or killed until I saw you recently and then, I couldn’t even ask what price you had to pay for helping me", mumbled Ariel.

"Ahem, I normally wouldn’t meddle in a family reunion but I have to meet with others soon, so if you could explain what is going on, I will let you talk as much as you want to", said Daimon, to which Lezabel answered.

"Unfortunately, we don’t have that much time either, however I can spare a couple of seconds to give you a rough idea, basically my "Marcus" from back then was the strongest devil king type ever, he grew to the point that if he were to kill his fated hero, he would also kill this little cutie here".

"So, I pulled a few strings resulting in his death before that nonsense ultimate battle took place, that earned me a few hundreds of thousands of years in a time altered "house for troublesome children" owned by the system, but I’m far too valuable to be discarded over indirectly killing a host, after all, this show can’t keep running without an evil guy for the light hero to kill, so here we are, but let’s leave sad things aside", said the ghost-like girl as she wiped Ariel’s tears with her thumbs to then add.

"Turns out you are going to be Ariel’s new host, I must say that you are the first one I actually don’t hate, sorry for thinking on blasting your head away when I saw her next to you, it’s just that she has really bad luck with her hosts... or more accurately that stupid light hero concept she is trapped with is basically a magnet for pieces of trash or reckless fools in general", just as Lezabel seemed to be getting all comfy with Daimon, thinking her little sister was finally in good hands, the atmosphere grew heavier and an invisible for anyone besides the present administrators and Daimon, bright white gate with yellow metallic decorations appeared above Lezabel.

"Tsk, time is up huh... this time there was no rules broken so we should meet each other in a few dozens or maybe a hundred and so years, take care of Ariel in the meantime and be sure to kill my next host as well~", said Lezabel only for a new participant in the conversation to join.

"Daimon said that he was going to let them talk as much as they wanted, so, know your place", that was of course Eve’s voice.

"Crack!", and that was the sound of that highly detailed and "holy" feeling gate cracking and then crumbling apart on the spot, this of course took Ariel and Lezabel by surprise, however the ghost girl administrator was more interested in another thing.

"Are you two-timing my little sister?", she asked, because while she for some reason couldn’t feel the aura of a system user from Daimon, knew that was another administrator and the voice came from Daimon.

"Humph, don’t get it wrong, I am Daimon’s administrator, that little angel or should I say, that little girl from the Heavenly Winged race has yet to sign a contract with him, but before that, let your "proof" manifest in the physical world", said Eve to which Lezabel frowned but looking at her little sister nod and especially after what happened with the gate that should have dragged her away with no one here being able to let alone stop it but even dragging the process slower for a second, she pointed her right hand at Marcus’s corpse.

In response a black metallic bracelet which was full of cracks and rust appeared around Marcus’s right wrist, above his gauntlets as if the thing couldn’t stand being below anything, that was Lezabel system’s proof, which unlike Ariel’s looked like a piece of scrap you would find in a flea market.

"Take it away from that guy", said Eve which Daimon did, the moment the bracelet entered in contact with Daimon’s hand, the heavy atmosphere which hadn’t dissipated even with the white gate being destroyed, evaporated like a drop of water in an ocean of fire.

"Now you can properly explain, why is the administrator of a devil king type system the sister of a member from the heavenly winged race and more importantly why are you not a member of her race despite being completely blood related", said Eve, she was actually interested in these two’s story, maybe because Ariel had agreed to sign a contract with Daimon, but if that would have been all, she would have shown such strong interest in Freya and while Eve was in friendly terms with that silver haired "battle maiden" like girl, she didn’t ask for her backstory in specific.

"Looks like you found yourself one hell of a future host...", mumbled Lezabel as she sat down on the ground while sitting Ariel on her lap, the angel girl was all smiles as of current, Daimon has seen her express much more emotions in this little period of time than since she joined him, so she wasn’t actually the silent type as one would believe, she simply was too worried about Lezabel to think on something else.

"Okay, let’s start with some basics, unlike other administrators I don’t get the chance to freely roam with saved up origin, or more accurately I can’t save up origin to begin with, so once the death of my host is noticed that’s my time to go, also as you know by now I am Ariel’s older sister, as to why I’m not a member of the angel heavenly winged race, that’s related to why I have to meet her as an enemy, are you sure you want your host to listen to it?", asked the ghost-like girl to which Eve proudly answered.

"Daimon is not your average host, negatively influencing his "world" is not an easy thing to do, even before becoming a system user he was facing stronger negative interference than what anything you two could produce and for the him as of current, learning more about how things work is not a liability but a benefit instead", she said while inwardly adding.

’Though we still have to wait a little bit for me to be the one to directly speak about it, what can I do if an "evil" administrator happens to touch some "taboo" subjects in his presence~’, cunningly thought Eve whose previous words made Lezabel’s eyes glow in an intense red light for a second before saying

"So, you are a really tough guy, perfect, the last host who tried to act all cool and tried to "trick" his way into getting close to us by wanting to listen to our story had his brain melt and spill out of his ears after a couple of sentences not even directly related to the main thing, so I had to make sure".

"Since you seem to come from a place that’s not even a Stellar Kingdom, I’ll start by telling you about "angels", there are many races with wings in the universe, however only three of them are fit to that tittle, first, the "Celestial" race, they are the largest and most varied of all, because even the most normal being with the correct setting can become a celestial, so long as one has wings there is a chance, some do look down on them for the previous, but this variety means that the celestial race is strong in basically all the aspects, war, civilization, culture, you name it, as a whole they are all-round".

"Next you have the race out of which the concept of angels known by mortals in most places was created after, the "Herald" race, besides the wings trait which remains the same, everything else about them is not defined by them but the one they take as their "guide", aspect, customs, you name it, but the important part is that upon reaching adulthood they become instantly stronger based on the strength of said guide so they are a pain in the ass to deal with as enemies, also, depending on their damn guide they can be decent guys or some of the trashiest pieces of scum you’ll ever meet".

"Then you have us, the "Heavenly Winged" race, to put it bluntly we are... well, used to be natural born warriors and worked like mercenaries earning money by killing for others, unlike the other two angel races who divide themselves by sub-races or affinities, the only division in our race is those that "fall" which basically means going crazy, unfortunately our ancestors were idiots who rushed to join any conflict that sprouted so we grew fewer in number and gained countless enemies openly".

"It’s not hard to know what would happen when all the strong go to war and die, leaving behind blood feuds all over the place, we were attacked from all sides for countless of years, but still due to our warrior nature, eventually things stabilized and peace returned, a ban in mercenary activities was issued to make it last until we recovered too".

"Our focus shifted from strength to other things, like merchantry, farming and the like which is not bad so long as you keep the power to deter enemies, the problem is that after not participating in any conflict for many generations, weak-minded fools became the leaders of our race and of course where there are interests there is conflict, eventually we started being pushed around more and more", said Lezabel taking a short break to then add.

"And this is where our family enters the scene, unlike other members of the heavenly winged race who could learn other ways of life, our family had only one talent, which was fighting, armies were banned so our parents, uncles and older cousins formed a guard unit, having learned from our mistake we didn’t take the initiative to attack, but only retaliated in response to hostility therefore others couldn’t just swarm us in the open like before, since the ones in the wrong were them".

"Our race quickly raised in power again, we got countless Stellar Kingdom’s worth of territory under our management and unfortunately one of them shared a border with a territory under the "Light Dawn Herald" race, who basically consists in a bunch of fanatics of the one they chose to guide them and what do our fool peace-dulled leaders do, they allow them into our territories in exchange of opening a trading route through theirs".

The fact that a race runs down a territory doesn’t mean every single person within that territory is from that same race, they are the ones to manage it but their subjects can be from any other race, no race has enough members to cover countless galaxies, unless every branch spread in the vastness of the universe were to gather together, which is virtually impossible.

"Since the adults were busy dealing with external threats, I took the duty to deal with the skirmishes that started popping up within our territories from that point onwards", said Lezabel to which Ariel added.

"More like you liked the idea to have people to beat up, sister", she said making Lezabel shrug.

"Anyway, since the silent undermining of our authority over our territories didn’t work for those fanatic bastards, which drew their attention to our strength, they changed tactics and instead asked for the guard unit to be deployed to help them deal with a "small" insurrection that had broken out in one of their many territories, using an exorbitant amount of money to convince those fool leaders of ours", Lezabel stopped here looking at her little sister who sighed in response.

"It’s fine, it has been too long already", mumbled the angel girl, with a small nod the ghost-like girl continued.

"Our parents and basically every adult direct relative of ours was killed during that supposedly insignificant task by "unknown" enemies and basically at the same time, rebellions started in a lot of our territories in a single go".

"What they didn’t take into account is that sister was... is, the most dazzling and talented ever member of our race, she was already not that weaker than our father who was the captain of the guards and by the time she suffocated all the fires that burst in our backyard, she had completely surpassed any other member of our race in terms of strength", said Ariel with sparkles in her eyes, she obviously admired Lezabel quite a lot, to which the latter shook her head.

"I was blinded by hatred and ultimately failed to protect what mattered the most...", Lezabel couldn’t finish her sentence before Ariel interrupted her.

"That’s not true, sister had twelve pairs of wings while not being a thousand years old even, they couldn’t defeat you, even the champion from the Light Dawn Herald race was absolutely destroyed by you in a single move and we later realized he was a system user!", exclaimed the angel girl.

Which gained the interest of both Daimon and Eve, for different reasons though, Daimon was surprised to hear that Lezabel destroyed a system user with a single move, while Eve couldn’t help ask.

"Twelve pairs of wings below a thousand years old, is that true?", she asked which made Daimon say.

"Is that an amazing feat or something?", to which Eve answered.

"The heavenly winged race measures their strength by the number of wings they have, of course not all are flesh wings, except for the ones on the back, the rest are often either tattoos or energy condensations, unless there are "troubles" with them, the point is that if she had twelve pairs of them, she was a step away from having a say in the "bigger picture" of things, it’s not something you see in beings below a thousand years on a regular basis, system users included", she said which made Daimon nod.

’Well, if she was able to kill a system user at her same level with a single attack, then she must have been monstrously strong in terms of battle prowess’, he thought to then look at Ariel, she only has one pair of visible wings and they are on her back, yet contrary to what Eve said, they are energy condensations instead of flesh ones as they should be.

"I have more than one pair, though I’m nowhere near to sister since she had three pairs which is the limit for the strongest combat related wings in other words the ones on our backs, these energy ones of mine are and the lack of other pairs on my body is just a way to save origin, Adam’s one was really low graded so I’m running with what I saved from past hosts which weren’t exactly outstanding either, sister on the other hand...", mumbled Ariel, her eyes reddened like before.

Ariel’s words made Daimon think about something, Lezabel’s clothes, she is wearing a black dress with a not exactly conservative cut, it’s an evening black dress that shows up quite a bit of skin, especially on the upper frontal area, however the thing doesn’t even wave when she moves and it absolutely covers certain specific areas, like... her back for example.

"Since those guys couldn’t defeat me and knowing what I was going to do to them, after I killed their champion which was their strongest warrior, they isolated themselves and limited to defend, the fight continued for a dozen of years in which I destroyed almost all their forces, until one day they asked for a peace treaty and offered to pay with three fourth parts of their total assets and territory as reparation, which our stupid leaders accepted against my wishes, after all we could have taken everything from them and also get rid of them, but they were worried about the "astronomical" cost of the supplies that would take".

"And as expected, it was a damn trap... for us, the old fogeys feared that I would take their authority away from them and since I had killed the enemy’s champion and slaughtered their forces for years, they thought they didn’t need me anymore, so they joined hands and used a poison to take Ariel and the other remaining members of my family as hostages and demanded me to sign a contract in exchange for the antidote".

"Those idiots didn’t stop to think about what would happen when the strongest members of the guard unit were all poisoned, of course the fanatics from the light dawn herald race, took the opportunity and so the whole upper echelon of the winged heavenly race was wiped out during that meeting for negotiating a "peace treaty", naturally the antidote they were given was fake and my relatives knowing their end had come helped kill our way out of there, I could make peace with all that... until it was Ariel’s turn", said Lezabel.

"Turns out, I was going to become a system user if I endured that "trial", which I of course refused to accept, so the system offered me a deal, instead of that, if I became an administrator, my sister would be cured, needless to say but even if it was a "deal with the devil", I would have accepted it anyway, Ariel could endure the poison better than our other relatives, but not long enough to get the antidote after all, the thing did fulfill its word though, she was cured in a second".

"But then, I was informed that I had to leave for thousands of years in a few minutes, with enemies at the door and my sister alone since we had no family anymore and hell had broken loose on all of the territories of our race, how was that different from letting Ariel to die", she said as she gritted her teeth.
