Chapter 214: My Goal is Beyond Your Understanding
Albert was completely overwhelmed by the conversation to the point he returned to his own tent while shaking his head from time to time.
"Teacher. What happened to you?" Yale came to him with a frown, asking.
"I heard the enemies are retreating." Irena came to him as well, explaining the situation she heard from the soldiers. "The vampire king seemed to have kneeled in front of everyone, surrendering to Master. Though, the details why he did it are unknown because no one could hear them."
"Kneeling?" Yale widened his eyes, shocked. As a royalty, he perfectly understood what it meant to kneel in front of others. Unless they were a true ruler, even the princes and princesses wouldn’t kneel, let alone a new noble like Albert.
Even with his status as Lilith’s fiance, it wasn’t enough to make the vampire king kneeled. Hence, he knew there must be another reason for that.
After a long sigh, Albert explained the story from the start.
Surprised, Yale couldn’t help but comment, "I guess as a king, he knows more about the history... But still, it doesn’t change the fact that he is the current ruler.
"To be honest, there are two possible outcomes that will happen when they know that you’re the Demon Lord. First, they will deny you to the point of eliminating you. After all, your existence will be a threat to their position. Second, they will accept you and become your friends as soon as possible, allowing them to work their plan from that point faster than anyone else.
"It seems the reason why the vampire king actually came to this place was..." Yale paused while looking at Albert.
The reason was clear. The vampire king had already known the fact that Albert was their Demon Lord. And those word play was simply his way to see whether Albert was the Demon Lord or not..
Since Albert’s reaction was enough to show that he was the Demon Lord, he immediately recognized his status and submitted, blaming the humans for this.
Hence, there was a reason for the vampire king to come to the battlefield himself when he knew Albert was going to participate. In fact, this might be the sole reason for him to come to this place.
All those dying soldiers had become the necessary sacrifice for Albert to show himself.
As cruel as it looked, the vampire king managed to achieve his objective, which was to acknowledge Albert’s status and the reason for his arrival.
"Hmm..." Yale scratched the back of his head, understanding why the vampire king did all that. "As expected, he’s a ruler too."
It turned out he had underestimated the vampire king this whole time.
"If the royal army actually came together with him, they would create such a fuss because they were too loyal to their king. If they saw the king lower his head to you, they might even go insane and start massacring more soldiers. Hence, he came early..." Yale shook his head in defeat. He realized compared to those old rulers, his political skill was still too low.
"Anyway, what are we going to do now?" Albert asked while sighing. "If the vampire king can deduct my identity, won’t it be the same for other rulers?"
"That’s..." Yale couldn’t answer his question.
As if waiting for his turn to come, Gin suddenly entered the tent with a big smile on his face. "Hello!"
"..." All of them fell silent as they stared at Gin with a weird expression.
"I have come back, Teacher. I was about to help you on the battlefield, but everything turned unpredictable, so I decided to hold myself back." Gin explained his reason nonchalantly as if he didn’t care about the turn of this event.
"What are you doing here?" Yale squinted his eyes. "Do you know that we’re not in the mood to have a fun conversation with you?"
"I know. But the solution is simple." Gin smirked and raised one finger. "Teacher only needs to go to the other continent and get stronger. When he returns, who can even take on his anger?"
"That’s not as simple as you think. Even if he kills the entire family, there is still public opinion. If he’s too scary, the public will condemn him."
"That means you’re not using violence enough." Gin smiled. "If you show enough strength, with some words play, it should be enough to turn that public opinion. Like, ’You forced me to go to another continent for your own goods and planned to kill me there, now I came back to take my revenge.’ Or something like that. If your prowess is godly, you can scare them enough to believe that’s the case."
"..." Yale’s eyebrows squinted. He didn’t approve such a thing, but it might be the case. By throwing the seed of doubt, he would amplify it with fear.
And if Albert added his nonchalant attitude and good personality, he would be able to make it more believable. He could create a persona in everyone’s heart. ’Albert is a good friend as long as you don’t antagonize him.’
Of course, he would need to consider about Albert’s feeling. Having a persona and needing to maintain it were a chore, especially since Albert was a free person.
"Anyway, there’s nothing you can do since the vampire king has done that." Gin shrugged. "Instead of lamenting over the fact that you didn’t do something right, it’s better to focus on what’s ahead. And it’s not possible to think that kind of stuff in this place.
"Hence, it’s better to change the topic. For example, this one..." Gin raised his finger, pointing at the slime that was wiggling around his head. "He is Bonkichi!"
"Huh?!"
Everyone immediately followed the direction of his finger and saw the slime. They had been too occupied by that matter to the point they forgot about the additional monster that stuck to Gin.
It was truly a slime. With a body of a jelly, and a golden core...
"A golden core?!" Irena couldn’t help but shout as her face turned pale. He leaped back while taking out her wooden bat, pointing it toward the slime.
That was right, the slime golden core symbolized their race. If it was a normal slime, the core should be red. Only those who had evolved to the slime king would have their core become golden.
And the threat that the slime king possessed was something that everyone had known, especially a woman for the Lust Kingdom.
"Come on, it’s not that much. Bonkichi is cute, you know." Gin pouted as he grabbed the slime king and showed it to everyone. "Bonkichi, do it!"
The slime king suddenly wiggled around in Gin’s hands before melting to the ground. But before it touched the ground, the slimy mucus let him stuck to Gin’s hands, allowing him to go around or even enter Gin’s clothes before popping out like a cute puppy.
After that performance, the slime king even let out two tentacles and created a heart symbol as if telling them that he wasn’t a bad slime.
"..." Yale, who had fought a slime king before, facepalmed. He wasn’t scared because he had seen what a slime king was capable of.
Hence, he asked, "So, you bringing the slime king here means..."
"Yes." Gin nodded furiously. "I want Teacher to grant him the power of bonk. He’s going to be my partner!"
"Are you seriously asking that? That slime should come from this territory, right? Considering you only need a few days to travel." Yale shook his head with a troubled face.
"Of course. After listening to how you met Shella, I learned that I could also tame the slime king. That’s why he’s my partner now." Gin smiled. "He’s a good slime. I promise you that he won’t attack any other people.
"Also, the Lust Kingdom is famous to have a slime king that r*pe men and women... But Bonkichi is different. He wants to turn into a new path after I bonk him a few times. It turns out he is under the control of the Lust Energy, making him to attack those people to satiate his hunger.
"Hence, if Teacher acknowledges Bonkichi and gives him the bonk, he can finally be free from that force and become my partner that helps me with everything!"
Gin’s explanation was indeed convincing, especially since they were aware that a slime king was extremely powerful. He would be a good partner for Gin.
However, there was one question in his mind. "Gin... You are a Great Sage... I mean, your specialty is in spell casting. I know the need of having someone to protect you, but is there a need for a slime king? You can have other monsters as well..."
This question came from Yale since he was worried about the slime king’s reputation.
Gin didn’t answer his question immediately. Instead, he closed his eyes and recalled the real reason why he wanted the slime king.
It came from a certain meme of a wooden statue having a thousand hands. The people edited it so that it looked like a thousand bonk bats. So, he thought the slime king would be the same. And it would become a goddamn move.
This would be perfect against many opponents as well as his protection. That was why Gin chose the slime king. Though, the main reason was for the meme.
Hence, he answered Yale’s question with, "My goal is beyond your understanding."
"Are you messing with me?" Yale’s eyebrows twitched as he had the urge to smack Gin’s face right now.
However, Gin ignored him and turned to Albert. "Please, Teacher. I can promise you everything as long as Bonkichi can become my partner!"
Ultimately, the real question would be whether Albert would give him the power or not.
