Chapter 559: [A Society of Secrets] [6] [Spirits]
Epione flipped through the pages of the book that contained the spirit purifying technique that I had gotten from Nyxara.
We sat in the main hall, she sat on the main sofa with her legs folded, the fabric of her dress wrapped and wrinkled around her.
Epione slowly closed the book, placed her chin on her palm and fell into deep thought.
"...I can do this." She whispered softly. "But I will need time to get familiar with it."
[<Ask her how long it will take.>]
I straightened my back and asked. "How long?"
"A week perhaps." She replied after thinking for a second. "It’s not as easy as the book makes it out to be."
I leaned forward and asked. "Can you explain?"
Epione nodded her head, took a second to arrange her thoughts and replied.
"You know about music notes, right? This is somewhat similar to that. To attract spirits, I need to sing in the right note with minute detail."
She looked at me with her pale crimson eyes like she was trying to understand something.
"And you need me to summon pure spirits with no mind and even guide them... it won’t be easy."

I nodded my head and leaned back on the sofa. "I understand."
It wasn’t easy to begin with, the Argonian family must have spent a lot of time to perfect it.
"I can try to learn it as quickly as possible." Epione added. "I can even try right now, if you want."
"Can you?" I asked in a slightly doubtful tone.
She nodded her head and drew in a deep breath. Opening the book, she flipped to the middle where a note for a song was written.
She brought the book slightly away from her face and began to hum.
My mind immediately began to relax with her voice.
It felt to me like the light had brightened up and the temperature had also warmed up.
Epione kept humming and I seemed to hear soft moaning and cheerful voices as though someone was giggling in happiness.
I didn’t even notice when I fell into a trance state, my eyes fixed on Epione.
But as I blinked, I saw a white silhouette appear around her.
Epione stood up and the silhouette vanished at the same time.
I blinked away the tiredness that I felt and looked at her. "You have a really... pretty voice."
She smiled awkwardly, touching her crown-like horns. "...Well, I have been singing since childhood."
I nodded my head, I had also been listening to her for a long time.
"As you can see, I still need a lot of practice." She replied, her expression serious. "Just give me a few days."
I nodded my head and let my lips curl up into a smile. "I will be counting on you."
She nodded and stood up and simultaneously the main door of the mansion opened.
"Papa!!"
I heard Iffa’s voice and before long she was rushing towards me.
With a smile, I stood up, grabbed the young girl and swung her around. "How is my daughter~?"
"Christy brought us ice cream." She replied happily, showing her two fingers. "I ate two of them."
I chuckled and put her down as I looked at the door where Christina was walking inside with Olivia and Willis.
She smiled brightly but I felt my expression harden.
’....She is overflowing with divinity as well.’
"Good morning~." She said, kissing my cheek while I stayed still. From my side eye, I noticed the frown on Epione’s face.
"Are you alright?" I asked, looking at Christina seriously.
She noticed what I meant and nodded. "I am fine, it’s just a spike of divinity that I will digest quickly."
She walked past me and began to talk with Epione.

’...I need to keep an eye on this.’
"Papa?"
Iffa tugged my sleeve, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I looked down at her. "Yes?"
She pointed toward Epione. "Will she sing again?"
’Ah, she must like the song because she is also a spirit.’
I blinked and glanced at Epione, who froze slightly at the sudden attention.
"...If she wants to."
Epione looked between us for a moment before letting out a small breath.
"...Maybe later."
Iffa puffed her cheeks. "...Okay..."
Christina laughed softly and patted her head.
Willis sat down where I was sitting and folded his hands with a dim look on his face.
"What happened to you?" I asked, ruffling his hair.
He winced and pushed my hand away. "You won’t understand."
I tilted my head in confusion. "What?"
He looked at me and replied with a straight face.
"I can’t start a family like you." He grumbled. "I will forever be single."
I opened my mouth to respond but closed it without any words.
’How am I supposed to answer this?’
"You are thinking too much." A voice interrupted us as I looked at the staircase.
Zenith walked towards us with a smile on her face. She patted young Willis and replied. "You will have a family one day, I can see it."
He looked doubtful yet relaxed as well. Turning his head, he mumbled. "Don’t touch me."
I felt Christina tug on my sleeve and pull me to the side to sit with her on the sofa.
"You should be more available for them." She whispered softly. "They too need a father figure."
I wanted to say that they were spirits and they grew too fast to need a father figure but that would definitely piss her off.
"I will look after them." I said, nodding my head.
Olivia sat down beside me with the same stoic look on her face.
From all three of my spirits, she was the most detached from me after Siersha vanished.
’...Does she miss her as much as I do?’
I patted her head, which she didn’t complain about.
Olivia made Epione sit down as she looked at the girl with sparkling eyes.
"Your voice is beautiful!" She said with a bright smile. "How can you have such a beautiful voice?"
Iffa’s cheerfulness seemed to have rubbed off on Epione as she smiled brightly. "I learned to sing from a young age." She replied. "That was one of my hobbies."

Iffa nodded her head while she kept flexing her legs to tiptoe and jump a little.
"Can you teach me? Can you?" She asked, her voice filled with anticipation.
Epione smiled softly. "It’s not that easy." She replied. "It will take a lot of time for you to learn it."
"I am ready to learn!" Iffa said firmly. "Teach me please~."
Epione, as if in a predicament, looked at Christina for answers but the girl only shrugged back.
"I won’t be staying for too long." Epione said softly. "I will return back to my home."
"Uhhh, then marry papa!" Iffa said, pointing at me and I froze in place.
Epione glanced at Christina and replied panickingly. "I can’t do that."
"Why not?" She asked. "He already has..." she paused, counting on her fingers. "....too many."
I immediately stood up, dodging Christina who was about to pinch the shit out of me.
I grabbed Iffa and picked her up. "Alright, Iffa, let’s play catch with brother Willis!"
Iffa, upside down, looked at me. "But we don’t have a ball."
I smiled at her. "You are the ball."
"Eh?"
I didn’t reply anymore as I walked towards the garden with them, leaving the ladies behind.
But as I walked in the hallway with two of my spirit children, I slowed down when I saw Nymeria walking from the other side.
I put Iffa down and said. "You guys can go and wait for me."
"Okay!"
Iffa said and ran away while Willis walked after her like a shadow.
Nymeria walked and stopped right in front of me, the smell of her body and her still wet hair made me feel good.
"What are you doing?" I asked, moving to stand by her side.
"To look at Elijah’s mother." She replied softly. "She has been alone since he has gone."
I nodded my head and began to walk with her without any words.
"Has Elijah not contacted her?" I asked in a doubtful tone.
She shook her head. "No."
Hm, that’s weird. Elijah isn’t the type to just ignore his mother without any words.
’....Did something happen to him?’
I wondered, rubbing the back of my neck slowly.
"I am planning to make a deal with Zenith." Nymeria suddenly said, grabbing my attention.
"What deal?" I asked, giving her a suspicious look.

She smiled, I rarely saw her smile and it was without a doubt beautiful.
"It’s something that will benefit both of us." She replied cryptically. "Perhaps even you."
I nodded my head and walked with my hands behind my back.
"I am trying really hard to do better and better." Nymeria said without looking at me. "I wish someone would reward me for that."
My lips twitched and I refused to look at her.
[<She wants to get rail—>]
’You don’t have to spell it out for me, pervert.’
[<....>]
Ah, I think she got angry.
We reached the guest house where Elijah’s mother was staying.
But as we knocked on the door, two ladies walked from the other side of the hall.
They were the mermaid princesses.
