Chapter 95: War Against the Kobolds (6)
Red furrowed his brow in confusion. It was gold and bright, thinking it might be something good. It said Epic Class Stone, a new term from the system. He had never heard about this epic, class, or magical stone before. The village never mentioned it before, something entirely new for him.
The problem was that he tried to use the stone. It might be something useful, so he tried to use it for himself, but he couldn’t. There was no notification that offered him to learn this Epic Class Stone, just like when he picked a skill scroll.
It might be different, so he tried to do it with intent. He willed it, conveying his intent to use or learn this Epic Class Stone. Nothing happened; it showed no reaction to him, but the stone felt magical to him.
His greed to learn to use the golden stone was so big. He risked his life and almost got himself killed. He wanted to reap his reward, yet it was not responding to him. He ended up wasting his time on this stone.
If not for his Infernal Berserk, he would keep trying. He gave up because he didn’t have much time left, maybe around thirty breaths left until his Infernal Berserk expired.
Red shoved the stone and the four cores into his pouch. He didn’t absorb the core because it was something different. He wanted to keep it to find the difference for later. Then he moved toward the second dead body and exchanged it for loot.
He wished the loot were something he could use and would help him in the upcoming fight. Something that could help him fight after his Infernal Berserk was over.
The body burst into light particles, and the loot lay next to the empty armor. His face scrunched up in displeasure, not satisfied with the drop. The loot was two Might Cores, a similar one to the previous core, the bigger one, and a more vibrant than usual core.
Then he found two transparent jugs filled with red liquid and green liquid, and then a silver coin. He put the two cores into his pouch, then he looked into the transparent jug. It was a dubious jug with an unknown and weird liquid inside. An edible food didn’t have such a vibrant color.
Red picked the transparent jug with red liquid inside. There was no notification or anything, not having a reaction like a skill book or skill scroll. He used Appraisal on it.
[Mediocre quality Health Potion: Recover 100 Health upon consumption and recover 50 Health per second for the next eight seconds.]
His eyes widened in delight, something he truly needed in this situation. He needed this Health Potion once Infernal Berserk expired. His head snapped to the second transparent jug. He grabbed the jug and used Appraisal on it.
[Mediocre quality Stamina Potion: Recover 80 Stamina upon consumption and recover 40 Stamina per second for the next ten seconds.]
His eyes gleamed in excitement. He wished there were one more potion, a Mana Potion. He figured out Mana Potion existed since the loot had Health Potion and Stamina Potion.
Once the Infernal Berserk expired, his Health, Stamina, and Mana would drop to 1. These potions would allow him to continue fighting. But without the Mana Potion, he would not be able to fire the Fireball. That was bad news since there were three more black-armored kobolds.
He didn’t know if he could fight them without Fireball or Infernal Berserk. The correct choice was to go back now and kill the kobold as many as he could before the skill was over. That would put him at high risk. He was done for if his skill expired while being surrounded by the kobolds.
The two potions changed things. He didn’t need to rush back. He might not be as strong as he was now, but it was safer that way. He could bring the potion back and drink it later after the skill expired, but there was an issue.
This transparent jug looked fragile, and he only had his pouch to carry it. The transparent jug might break apart when he ran back to the village. Even if it didn’t break by then, the fight with the kobold would break the transparent jug.
So yeah, it would be safer for him to wait here until his skill expired and drink the potion after. It was just another bad news aside from not being able to use the fireball. It was his bow; his bow snapped when the kobold hit him.
He reached his back, and sure enough, the bow snapped in two; some parts of it cracked as well. The bowstring was fine, but not with the frame. The limb cracked; it would take time and mana to repair it, which he had. His eyes widened in realization.
In his Infernal Berserk, his stat increased by ten times. That meant he had a lot of mana. His Mind stat was more than a thousand, meaning he had better concentration and stable control over his skill. His mana was not an issue as he had more than ten thousand mana.
Arcane Perception temporarily over one thousand. His magical sense would help him repair the bow. His time might be limited to thirty breaths or maybe less, but it was worth trying rather than just doing nothing while waiting for his skill to expire.
Red looked at the bow, then he looked at the potions. It didn’t take long for him to make the decision. He grabbed the transparent jug and the silver. He didn’t immediately go with the Mana Repair. He looked for the kobold’s sword as he had an idea what to do with it.
It didn’t take long to find the big sword. It was not far from the explosion. He quickly grabbed the sword and climbed up to the tree, the safest spot for him right now.
That was when he started with Mana Repair. He held the bow with both hands and started the repair. Since he had a lot of mana, he didn’t need to be careful with mana efficiency.
The bow blueprint appeared in his mind. It was vivid and more detailed. It was as if he were the one who created the bow. That was the sensation, and it might be thanks to more than a thousand Mind.
He was not holding back, just following the instinct, guiding the mana toward the directed spot, fully trusting his skill. With his current magical senses, he could feel that his mana was being drained during the repair. It took much more mana. It was not just hundreds but over a thousand mana being pulled out from his body.
The sensation was very clear. He was startled at first, but he then remembered that he had more than ten thousand mana as of now. He followed the flow and noticed why it took more mana than usual. The mana magically generated the missing part, the splinters, when the bow snapped. The skill regenerated the missing part and returned the bow to its original shape.
There was something that tugged him, telling him to do something with the blueprint inside his head. It was his instinct, an intuition, to alter some part of the bow. The tugging feeling was getting stronger and stronger, which caused Levelheaded to be triggered.
If it were in a different circumstance, he would follow his instinct, but not now. He only had limited time, and he needed to work on the kobold’s sword. The black metal was unique, and he wanted to work on it while Infernal Berserk was active.
