Chapter 67: Eventful Night
Red had his dinner without knowing what had happened. He forgot about it as he started eating, as his attention was on the food. Darla surprised him again with something new. The soup was rich as he tasted a new flavor in it.
The grilled rabbon was good, better than usual. The skin was crispy, and the meat was soft. The dark-coated meat was another new food that made him lost in sauce. Darla specifically instructed him to put the meat on the rice.
It was a pleasant dinner, and his confusion cleared up for a moment. He was about to go to the creek for his daily bath, but that was when something strange happened again. Darla was tagging along this time.
Red was sitting inside the creek, chest and down was submerged in cool water. The difference was that Darla was sitting on his thigh, looking at him with redness on her cheek. Her breathing was hurried, but for a different reason this time.
Her hands were on his secret sword. The tip of the head poked out of the water as her hand caressed it. Her eyes were open wide, looking at it in wonder as she muttered something he didn’t understand.
"How can something big like this fit inside me..."
The more she caressed the secret sword, the harder it became.
Red was observing Darla carefully, a part of his investigation to understand more about the female human. She had a worried look on his face. A little bit different than what he saw when he returned late, but he saw a concern in her eyes.
She never had this kind of expression when they were doing it at home. He saw anticipation when they did it at home, not concerned. The more he tried to understand, the more confused he became.
After a while, she raised herself up and directed the secret sword into her. A moan escaped from her mouth as she swallowed the whole secret sword.
"It truly fits inside me..." She muttered in a shaky voice with her eyes closed.
"Don’t move..." She placed her hand on his chest as he was about to do the move, "I will do the move."
He didn’t completely understand what she said, but he understood the assignment. He stayed still while she did the move.
The usual quiet night was filled with her pleasant moan. Doing it outside truly gave me a different experience. For some reason, he was more excited than usual. It was a wonderful night after the hunt.
He had to carry Darla on his back. She was sleeping with her head resting on his shoulder. It was a bizarre night, and he still didn’t understand why Darla did what she did when he came home earlier.
Once they were home, he put her on the bed. Red hadn’t forgotten his goal to train his other skills. He opened his armory and took out the [Great Longbow]. He checked the bow once more.
Great Longbow
Condition: Adequate
Quality: Rare
Attribute: +0.5 Attack +0.5 Range
The condition was adequate, which was below good. He identified the condition status. The worst condition he found so far was Very Poor, Poor, Adequate, Good, Excellent. Those were the five conditions he could identify in the village armory.
He had not found what below Very Poor, if there was any, and he had not found conditions above Excellent so far. First, he wanted to repair the bow, then he would refine the bow further. That was how he upgraded his slingshot and armor to Excellent, increased the weapon’s attribute, minus repair.
He never used [Mana Repair] before, as he focused on making more spiky metal balls, which ended in failure. This would be the first time he used [Mana Repair].
Red didn’t really know the skill, but he did it the same way he used [Mana Refining] and [Mana Smelting]. He held the bow with both hands and willed the skill, activating it.
That was when he sensed something was drained from him. He knew what it was, Mana. It was the same when he used other skills.
Mana was flowing out from both his hands, enveloping the bow. The difference was that the skill used more mana than [Mana Refining], about the same mana with [Mana Smelting], maybe more.
That was when he sensed a strange sensation. A cool sensation flowed through his hand, then his chest, and then to his head. It was strange because he could sense and see every part of the bow in his head.
It showed him which part was worn out, and he continued until a blueprint appeared in his head. That was weird because he could see the thing that was similar in his hand to his head. He could not really come to terms with what he experienced right now.
Red focused on the floating blueprint, then he saw the red marks all over the bow. There were more than ten marks around the bow. Some were big, and many were small.
He willed the mana around the bow to go to the red marks with his eyes closed. Even though he didn’t see the bow with his eyes, he knew every part of it. His mana followed his will, going to the red-marked part. It took a few breaths, and the red mark disappeared from the blue in his head.
He assumed the mana resolved the issue in that part, and he started to move more mana to the red-marked parts. Sometimes it was easy to move the mana, sometimes the mana seemed to try to defy him. It was a long and tedious process. It took him more than a hundred breaths to fix the big red mark.
The repairing process took longer than he thought. Once all red marks disappeared in the projection of the Great Longbow inside his head, he opened his eyes. He immediately looked down on the bow in his head. There was no change in the bow; it remained the same, but he knew the bow was in better condition.
Red was about to inspect the bow until he received a notification in front of his eyes, not just one, but three notifications.
[Mana Sense has reached level 3!]
[Mana Repair has reached level 2!]
[You have learned a new skill, Mana Authority!]
