Chapter 2555: Chapter 120: Life and Death Sixfold, Bai Yu Youxia (Part 2)
The main calamity-bearer who was acting on behalf of the Heavenly Will could not even protect himself, so the "calamity" naturally dispersed, rootless and scattered.
This process of leading in and dispelling the calamity gave Zhang Linchuan a further understanding of the single word "calamity," and of the so‑called "Heavenly Will."
The great calamity of Dan Country, though it enjoyed the advantage of time, place, and human harmony, with roots stretching far back and thus very hard to replicate, yet could still serve as a reference for the days to come.
When the surrounding strong cultivators were swarming madly toward Dan Country, Zhang Linchuan slipped away in utter silence, crossing the valley plains, skirting around Strong Chu’s borders, and turning toward...
Yue Country.
Yue Country is a fine place: magnificent in mountains and waters, abundant in resources. Its court is stable, its administration clear and bright; backed by Twilight Drum Academy and Southern Dipper Palace, it can sleep soundly at the side of Strong Chu.
And tracing the Cause and Effect of its history, it also has countless subtle ties with the eerie and perilous Fallen Immortal Forest. In other words, in this place, one might obtain unexpected harvests.
At the same time, Yue Country has no True Monarch expert sitting in town.
The strongest within the country, the Hidden Minister Gao Zheng, is only at the Profound Truth Realm. Yue Country’s King Wen Jingxiu is likewise merely a True Man of the Age.
Whereas he, Zhang Linchuan, has rather extensive experience at the True Person Level, and even richer experience in dealing with True Men.
In other words, creating storms within the borders of Yue Country, he can be somewhat more unrestrained; so long as he avoids Hidden Minister Peak and the Yue royal palace, he can stir up an even greater commotion.
Slaughtering beings to attain the Dao is not what he seeks, but at a time like this, killing a hundred thousand, several hundred thousand people, to enrich the World Without Life, would not be unacceptable either.
In the end, he will then welcome the pursuit of that Hidden Minister, reputed to be Yue Country’s greatest achiever in all its history, and use this heroic figure to cross his fourth tribulation—which can also be called... his final tribulation.
Yes, he has never planned to walk through the Nine Tribulations Method step by step, one stair at a time.
That would be too slow, too dangerous.
For him, time is precious!
His Bone Holy Body is rejected by the will of the present world; he himself is rejected by all the great powers of the present world; time is even less his friend! Not only because that murderer’s single blade cut away far too much of his lifespan, but even more because his life‑and‑death mortal enemy is that man standing in blazing radiance, the Marquis Wu’an of Qi, Jiang Wang, who with one hand destroyed the Church of Lifeless!
In these days of being hunted by the whole world, he seems to stroll at leisure, playing and toying with the heroes of the world between his fingers with a smile. But in truth, every step he takes is on the tip of a blade; every instant, he brushes against the edge of life and death.
If the People of the Jing Nation had sent out a True Man of the Age from the very beginning; if Wu Xun of Late Mulberry Town or Master Dongfang had given Tan Wenqi a second look; if Dan Country had had some True Man pay attention to Zhang Xun that night... the result would have been entirely different.
He has been constantly making noise, constantly stirring up larger vortices, constantly revealing more of his trump cards... Amid the terror of others, he himself knows very clearly that he too is walking step by step toward death!
The Unborn Sect Founder, walking the dark night—when he has no secrets left in the eyes of the world, he will be burned to death under the blazing sun.
This is the so‑called "destiny" he can see.
The various "causes" of former days seek to bring about this sort of "effect."
He certainly will not accept it.
That is why it is said that Yue Country is his fourth tribulation, and also his final tribulation.
That is because, after crossing the first three tribulations, he will use the Divine Skills of the Seven Spirits Taking Fate, and at the same time use six different identities to undergo the life‑and‑death tribulation!
The fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth... these six tribulations will occur simultaneously.
When the six tribulations are crossed together and the six bodies merge into one, he can completely restore his True God Divine Position, and even go a step further: remove the hidden dangers of the Heavenly Will, open up the path of the Sun God, and gaze upon the scenery at the Absolute Summit!
This incomparably huge firework that is Dan Country will draw the gaze of the entire world for him.
And while the strong figures from all sides take their seats to carve up and feast upon Dan Country, that fat stag, he will also, alone, walk to meet that final choice between life and death.
If he loses, he will completely lose everything he has in the present world; if he wins, he ascends to the heavens in a single step!
In the Unborn Sutra, he himself wrote, "The myriad beings pity me, and I pity the myriad beings."
To ferry others and ferry oneself—this is precisely the Way in its grand practice.
So since he has made it convenient for the great powers to share out Dan Country, this world naturally ought to give him the convenience of crossing his tribulation. This is what is called "Wusheng’s blessings."
Theoretically speaking, the difficulty of crossing his tribulation in Yue Country should be lower than in Wei Country or in Dan Country. The reason he still chose this, there is another important one: the affair of crossing six tribulations at once itself brings him enormous pressure. So he consciously lowered the difficulty of this tribulation faced by his true body.
Using six identities at the same time, in six different places, to stir up disasters and welcome killing tribulations—this can fully be called the greatest challenge he has ever faced in his life.
He faces this moment with utmost caution.
...
...
The capital of Yue Country is called "Kuaiji."
Yet the most famous city in Yue Country is "Langya."
"Lang" means "fine jade," and "ya" means "ivory."
This is a city of jade and stone; naturally it is splendid and magnificent, yet also gentle and harmonious. Its wealth and prosperity are famed throughout the entire Southern Territory.
Langya Bai’s Family is the foremost renowned clan in Yue Country.
Bai Pingfu, the Family Head of the Bai Family, long famed for his broad benevolence, has been in a very poor mood of late.
So those people who usually love to come around cadging favors do not dare visit his residence to court bad luck.
Those in the know, of course, understand that this is because the current genius of the Bai Family, who once ascended the Guanhe Platform and in whom the clan placed high hopes—the Bai Family’s princely heir, Bai Yuxia—after being challenged by some wild man from who‑knows‑where, actually left without saying goodbye.
He left behind only a letter, just a few short words, saying something about roaming the world with his sword.
The Bai Family is a household that prizes Standards and Outline above all; Bai Pingfu gave his beloved son the name "Bai Yu‑with‑Flaw" in order to seek "flawlessness" through "having flaws," hoping he would become a perfectly impeccable person.
