Chapter 460: Chapter 460: Annihilation of the Song Family

Seeing Melody Summers’s shocked expression, Joanne White said in a low voice, "This baby was never viable... Actually, I started spotting in my sixth week..."

It was probably because the interval between this pregnancy and her last miscarriage was too short, and her body hadn’t fully recovered. Plus, Sean Sutton was old, and his sperm quality wasn’t great. In short, it was almost impossible for her to carry this pregnancy to term.

After much thought, Joanne White used the medicine she had prepared beforehand to abort the unformed fetus in her womb.

Melody Summers felt a whirlwind of complicated emotions as she listened.

’Two miscarriages in just a few short months... Joanne White must have been in immense pain, both physically and mentally...’

After drinking the medicine, the flush on Joanne White’s face from her high fever slowly faded. She rested for a while, then looked at Melody Summers and recounted everything she had been through recently.

The moment Sean Sutton and Margaret Adler learned of Joanne White’s pregnancy, all pretenses between the couple were dropped.

They had been married for many years, after all, so Sean Sutton initially felt a sliver of guilt toward Margaret Adler, but that guilt didn’t last more than a few days.

Not only that, but under Joanne White’s repeated manipulations, Sean Sutton grew to resent Margaret Adler more and more. Every ounce of affection he felt for Joanne translated into an equal measure of disgust for Margaret.

Adding to that was the presence of the unstable Ethan Sutton at home. The mere sight of Ethan gave Sean Sutton a headache, and he blamed Margaret Adler for it.

Sean Sutton believed Ethan had turned out this way because Margaret Adler didn’t know how to discipline him, that she had failed to raise their child properly.

The more Sean Sutton detested Ethan, the more he looked forward to Joanne White’s baby. He doted on Joanne, eagerly awaiting the birth of the new heir to the Sutton family.

And just like that, using her understanding of men and the child in her belly, Joanne White easily manipulated Sean Sutton, completely crushing the mother-son duo of Margaret Adler and Ethan Sutton under her heel.

Later, Margaret Adler tried to feign acceptance of Joanne White. She meticulously tended to Joanne’s every need, not only serving her tea and water but even giving her foot massages.

This was Margaret Adler’s way of showing Sean Sutton that she was willing to humble herself and care for Joanne for the sake of his child, because their interests as a couple were aligned. She hoped to win back Sean Sutton’s heart, to remind him that she was his true wife and thus secure her position.

But Margaret Adler forgot that the effectiveness of such tactics depended entirely on the man’s whims.

Margaret Adler was gambling on Sean Sutton’s conscience, but she never expected that he simply didn’t have one.

Her self-abasement only made Sean Sutton push his luck further. Not only did she fail to awaken any guilt or gratitude in him, but he even felt she was merely doing what was expected of her.

As the old saying goes, "The three great fortunes for a middle-aged man are promotion, wealth, and a dead wife." This wasn’t just a joke; to Sean Sutton, Margaret Adler’s very existence was becoming an eyesore.

And so, the more than twenty years of marital bliss between Sean Sutton and Margaret Adler became a complete joke. Margaret had borne Sean a child and managed his household, only to lose to the young, beautiful, and fertile Joanne White in the end.

Then, Joanne White noticed she was constantly bleeding. She realized the baby was likely lost, and dragging it out any longer might take a toll on her own body. After careful consideration, she decided to use this child to cause more trouble for the Suttons, so she orchestrated a little drama.

Joanne White deliberately provoked Ethan Sutton, causing the already unstable young man to push her down. She then took the opportunity to feign a miscarriage.

Sean Sutton, who witnessed Joanne White’s "miscarriage" with his own eyes, went berserk!

The child he had been so eagerly anticipating was gone. Sean Sutton was so furious he wanted to kill Ethan Sutton right then and there!

In his rage, Sean Sutton grabbed an iron bar meant for fending off burglars and, without a word, swung it viciously at Ethan.

But Sean Sutton forgot that he was old now and no match for Ethan. Ethan was young, tall, and heavyset. Seeing his father trying to kill him, he didn’t hold back and fought back, beating Sean half to death.

If Margaret Adler hadn’t intervened, Ethan would have likely beaten Sean Sutton to death on the spot.

Seeing his son dare to defy him, Sean Sutton was so enraged that his high blood pressure flared up. Combined with his injuries, he fainted on the spot.

Later, while Sean Sutton was bedridden and recovering, Joanne White constantly fanned the flames of his anger. She knew exactly how to provoke a man’s fury. Sean already harbored resentment toward Ethan, and because of Joanne’s instigation, his hatred for his son deepened.

So, when Sean Sutton was able to stand again, he waited until Ethan was asleep, tied him up, and gave him a brutal beating.

Sean Sutton was truly incensed this time and showed no mercy. He split Ethan’s head open, and blood streamed down his face.

Ethan howled in pain from the beating, his cries waking Margaret Adler from her sleep.

Seeing her injured son, Margaret Adler flew into a frenzy, pouncing on Sean Sutton and pummeling him. But her attacks had little effect; instead, Sean backhanded her, slapping her to the ground.

Desperate to protect her son, Margaret Adler saw the blood covering Ethan’s head and the savage look on Sean Sutton’s face. In a moment of panic, she pulled out a fruit knife she kept for self-defense and lunged at Sean!

Sean Sutton reacted quickly. He dodged her attack and shoved her back forcefully.

The push sent Margaret Adler staggering. Caught off guard, she fell right on top of Ethan.

And the fruit knife in her hand plunged straight into Ethan’s chest.

Ethan took the full force of the blow. Blood gushed from his chest. The sight left Margaret Adler stunned, and even Sean Sutton, standing to the side, was at a loss for what to do.

When Margaret Adler came to her senses, she threw herself at Sean Sutton like a madwoman. She clawed and hit him, cursing him with the most venomous words, screaming that he must pay for her son’s life.

Sean Sutton was infuriated by Margaret. When she cursed him, saying he deserved to die without an heir, it hit a nerve. He lost all reason and turned to pull the knife out of Ethan’s chest.

As Sean Sutton turned, Margaret Adler seized the opportunity to grab the nearby iron bar and smash it down on his head!

The result was that just as Sean Sutton pulled out the knife and turned, the iron bar in Margaret Adler’s hand struck him squarely on the head. But with his last breath, using the momentum of his fall, he plunged the knife he was holding into Margaret’s chest.

And so, the couple collapsed to the ground at the same time—one with a knife in her chest, covered in blood, the other with blood pouring from his head, convulsing.

Joanne White didn’t know what happened after that. Seeing the situation spiral so far out of control, she was afraid she would get caught in the middle of their fight, so she ran back to her bedroom and locked the door.

When Joanne White went to check the next morning, she discovered that all three members of the Sutton family were no longer breathing. Their bodies had already gone stiff.

Even Joanne White hadn’t expected things to escalate to this point, that the entire Sutton family of three would perish in a single night.

She didn’t dare stay in the same space with three dead bodies for long. After all, she had a guilty conscience and felt the place gave her the creeps, especially at night.

She remembered Melody Summers had previously mentioned a temporary shelter being set up on the 23rd floor of the apartment building, so she packed some things and ran straight over.
