Chapter 222: Chapter222-Pre-Battle Arrangements, the Sequence System
John quickly summoned Alan and the others.
Inside the City Lord Mansion, the atmosphere was solemn.
John stood before a massive sand table of the Apocalypse Continent, his finger tracing a line from the far north all the way to the far south.
Along the way, there were many important cities that needed to be defended.
He raised his head, swept his gaze over the five vice guild leaders present, and said in a deep voice, "Time is tight, so I’ll keep this brief."
Alan, Evelyn, Anna, Hex, and Boros sat on both sides, their expressions grave.
They still carried the sharp, murderous aura of commanders whose battle corps had just finished assembling.
"The six main cities of the Apocalypse Continent are all currently in our hands."
John planted six blue marker flags on the sand table one after another. "But our intelligence has confirmed that the abyssal army is gathering on the other side of the Ashen Mountains. Their vanguard could cross the ridge at any moment.
"Their strategic objective is very clear: capture all main cities at the same time and sever the coordination between our defensive lines."
Alan stood up and placed both hands on the edge of the sand table. His armor gave off a low metallic scrape.
"Guild leader, just assign the tasks directly.
"The Order Warrior Corps has twenty-three thousand members, and every one of us is ready."
John nodded without any unnecessary pleasantries.
"Alan, you will lead the Order Warrior Corps and defend Iron Citadel in the northern border."
John pointed toward the gigantic fortress model at the northernmost end of the sand table. "That will be the position under the greatest pressure from the abyssal army’s frontal assault. Only your heavy-armored warrior line can withstand their first wave of charges.
"Once Iron Citadel falls, the entire northern plain will have no natural defenses left."
"Understood."
Alan answered briefly, his gaze steady.
John turned toward Evelyn, who was seated on the left. She was lightly tapping the ice-blue gemstone embedded at the top of her staff with her finger.
"Evelyn, you will lead the Forbidden Mage Corps to the floating city in the western border."
John said, "The floating city’s magic matrix can only be activated by high-level mages. You will be responsible for activating the full-region barrier ahead of time.
"Remember, your mission is not only defense. Once the barrier is activated, you must be prepared to provide long-range support to the other four main cities, especially Iron Citadel."
Evelyn raised her chin slightly. "Give me four hours, and the floating city’s barrier will cover half of the Apocalypse Continent."
John did not question her confidence. His gaze shifted to Anna.
Anna had both hands folded on the table. The badge of the Holy Light Priest Corps at her collar glowed with a gentle radiance.
"Anna, you will go to the Holy Light Church in the south."
John’s tone softened slightly. "That place is the hub of the entire continent’s healing system. The wounded-soldier teleportation arrays of all the main cities converge beneath the church.
"You must hold the healing node while also preparing to dispatch priests to support the overall battlefield.
"The pressure on your side will be the lightest, but your responsibility will be the heaviest. If the healing supply of any main city is cut off, the entire defensive line may collapse."
Anna nodded softly and said calmly, "I will make sure that the healing line of every main city remains unbroken."
John looked deeply at her, then turned toward Hex, who was sitting in the corner wiping his dagger.
Hex did not speak. He merely spun the dagger once between his fingers before sliding it back into the hidden sheath in his armguard.
"Hex, the Shadow Assassin Corps will head to the eastern border."
John pushed a black marker piece across the sand table toward the Ashen Mountains. "There are several hidden passages east of Radiance City, within the Ashen Mountains. The abyssal army is very likely to infiltrate through that area.
"You do not need to fight them head-on. Sneak into both sides of the mountain range in advance and set ambushes at the key passes.
"Once they launch their attack, immediately cut off their supply lines, assassinate their frontline commanders, and create chaos.
"Delay them for as long as you can."
Hex finally raised his head, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly.
"Guild leader, you want me to bury the sparks before they even make a move?"
"I want you to make sure they can’t even send anyone to put out the fire," John corrected.
Finally, John looked toward Boros, who had remained silent the entire time.
Boros had his arms crossed. The longbows of the Void Archer Corps behind him emitted a dark, dim glow. His gaze had been fixed on the strait at the easternmost side of the sand table the entire time.
"Boros, you will lead the Void Archer Corps and defend Tidal Fortress in the eastern border."
John pointed at the narrow strait. "According to our intelligence, the abyssal army’s reinforcement fleet is gathering in the Endless Sea and may cross the strait at any moment.
"Tidal Fortress is the only landing point.
"Your archers must occupy the high ground in advance and prepare to suppress the entire landing zone.
"Not a single one of them can be allowed ashore."
Boros finally spoke, his voice low.
"Within my range, all are prey."
John looked around at the five of them and fell silent for two seconds.
"The abyssal army plans to dispatch three abyssal lords this time. Each one is above Level 280."
He said, "As for me, I will remain stationed at the central Overlord City, ready to reinforce any battlefront that falls into crisis at any moment.
"You do not need to defeat them. You only need to hold the line until I arrive."
John placed his hand on the Overlord City model at the center of the sand table. An invisible pressure spread from his body.
It was the oppressive aura of a Level 300 powerhouse, causing the temperature in the entire meeting room to seem as though it had dropped by several degrees.
"All battle corps, set out immediately."
John’s voice allowed no doubt.
"Within twelve hours, all five main cities must enter combat readiness.
"If anyone has questions, speak now."
Alan was the first to shake his head, followed by Evelyn, Anna, Hex, and Boros.
No one had any questions.
John said one final sentence.
"Go.
"Defend your cities."
After arranging everyone’s tasks, John’s gaze immediately returned to the Class Advancement System he had just obtained.
After the player level averaging this time, the system announcement that appeared was equivalent to a major update.
He studied it carefully and discovered that this class advancement system was actually very easy to understand.
This class advancement was aimed at all players capable of undergoing divine class evolution.
Once one reached the divine class level, class advancement would no longer be an ordinary class advancement.
For example, after a mage completed class advancement, a new sequence class would appear.
Sequence 9 was Magician.
After completing the Sequence Class Advancement Quest, one would advance to Sequence 8, Great Magician. Further up would be Sequence 7, Prophet, and the strongest Sequence 0 would be God of Magic.
This sequence was equivalent to a long stairway toward godhood. The higher the sequence, the closer one was to becoming a god.
After reading it, John became thoughtful.
"Compared to Hess Continent, the divine class system of Tianji Continent has no restrictions at all. Players can freely become gods by completing sequence quests."
John remembered that his clone was still within the level system of Hess Continent.
If he wanted to ascend to godhood over there, he would probably have to undergo another lightning tribulation.
Although that would not be a problem for him, a clone was ultimately still inferior to the main body.
Moreover, because he had helped Odelle successfully ascend to godhood this time, the God Realm would inevitably pay more attention to him.
Therefore, for the time being, his hope of becoming a god could only be placed on the Apocalypse Continent’s side.
It had to be said that this update had indeed provided the players of the Apocalypse Continent with an extremely simple and convenient system for ascending to godhood.
