Chapter 46: Chapter46-The Global United Government Military Department’s Priority Cultivation Watchlist

As soon as Nix finished speaking, the Chairman rose to his feet and walked over.

Step by step, he came to stand in front of Nix.

Seeing this, Nix thought his father was going to comfort him and instinctively raised his head.

Smack!

A solid slap landed hard across his face.

The force of the blow sent Nix crashing to the floor.

Throughout the entire scene, Overlord_Dawn sat to the side without the slightest reaction. He merely lowered his head and flicked the ash from his cigar.

The Chairman looked down at Nix, who was sprawled on the ground. There was not the slightest trace of paternal warmth in his voice.

"How many times have I told you? This is not the same simple game as before.

"Do you think I arranged for you to become vice guild master so you could swagger around with a bunch of trash like you used to?

"Do you even know what you almost did today?"

Nix covered his face and did not dare say a single word.

The Chairman’s gaze was ice-cold.

"A player capable of triggering a world-class quest and obtaining a God-Rank reward—rather than thinking about how to befriend such a person, you offended him to the point of no return at the very first opportunity.

"Do you think Overlord Guild is already so powerful that we can ignore someone of that level?

"Or do you think I, the Chairman of this group, am already strong enough to wrestle with the Global United Government?"

Hearing his father’s words, Nix froze completely.

Only now did he realize that his father was not angry because he had been crippled.

He was angry because Nix had provoked the wrong person.

Nix had never imagined that John’s value in the eyes of his father and the major guilds would be so high.

The Chairman turned away and did not look at him again. He merely said coldly, "Get out. Before you find a way to leave the Starter Village on your own, do not come back to see me."

Nix’s face was deathly pale as he staggered out of the office.

After the office door closed again, the anger on the Chairman’s face slowly faded.

He returned to his desk, took a file out from the drawer, and tossed it in front of Overlord_Dawn.

The cover of the file did not bear the logo of Overlord Group.

There was only a single line marked in red.

[Global United Government Military Department Priority Cultivation Watchlist]

Overlord_Dawn glanced at it, and his brow lifted slightly.

At the very top of the first page, a new ID was written prominently.

[Outlander]

Below the ID, there was also a line of notes.

[Suspected recipient of the core reward from a world-class quest. Extremely high growth potential. Real-world identity unknown. Pending confirmation.]

The note had been specially emphasized in bold, making it clear just how much importance they placed on Outlander.

The Chairman looked at Overlord_Dawn and asked slowly, "I don’t understand the details inside the game. So tell me directly—how important could this person become in the future?"

Overlord_Dawn looked at the list and fell silent for a moment.

He took a deep drag from his cigar, exhaled a smoke ring, and then said slowly, "I’ve been in the gaming industry for almost thirty years. I’ve seen all kinds of geniuses, professional players, and whales.

"But I have never seen a player with this level of strength."

The Chairman listened quietly and did not interrupt.

Overlord_Dawn continued, "If this person was merely lucky, then we might still be able to catch up by relying on the power of the guild.

"But judging from everything he has done in the Starter Village, he is definitely not someone who climbed up through luck alone.

"This Outlander knows many secrets that ordinary players don’t. His judgment, execution, and combat awareness are all absurdly sharp.

"Once someone like him truly grows up..."

Overlord_Dawn paused, and his tone became heavy.

"By then, even if we threw the entirety of Overlord Guild at him, we might not be worth one of his fingers."

After hearing this, the Chairman instead smiled.

"In other words, this person has extremely high cooperative value.

"Someone like this must be recruited."

Hearing that, Overlord_Dawn frowned.

After all, not long ago, he had still been throwing harsh words at John inside the game.

Now the Chairman wanted him to lower his head and recruit John instead. Emotionally, it was naturally difficult for him to accept for the moment.

The Chairman saw through his thoughts at once and stood up, walking around the desk.

He came to Overlord_Dawn’s side, patted his shoulder, and then patted his face the same way he had when they were young.

"I know this will make you unhappy. But you grew up with me. Tell me, have I ever treated you unfairly?

"This time is different. Just consider it doing your older brother a favor.

"Set your pride aside for now, all right?"

Overlord_Dawn was silent for a moment.

Then he extinguished his cigar and tossed the file back onto the desk.

Taking a deep breath, he said, "Fine. I’ll listen to you. That guy really isn’t someone easy to mess with anyway."

Only then did a satisfied smile appear on the Chairman’s face.

"That’s more like it. The road ahead is still long. There’s no need to block it completely at the very beginning."

Overlord_Dawn stood up and was about to leave.

But at that moment, the Chairman suddenly spoke again.

"Oh, right. I remember he still owed our guild money before, correct?

"I’ll have someone wipe it all clean. You don’t need to worry about that."

Overlord_Dawn stopped in his tracks and looked at him in surprise.

The Chairman continued, "Also, everyone in the guild who knows his real-world information will be made to sign a confidentiality agreement.

"That includes forum group chats and internal channels. No one is allowed to mention his real information anywhere.

"If anyone leaks it, they can get out of Overlord Guild."

Overlord_Dawn raised an eyebrow.

"From the sound of it, you’re trying to protect him?"

The Chairman smiled and shook his head.

"Not protect. Monopolize.

"I don’t want anyone else to set their sights on him before we do.

"Right now, the whole world knows how valuable the ID Outlander is, but no one knows who he is in reality.

"That information gap is our greatest bargaining chip."

Overlord_Dawn understood.

So this cancellation of the debt was not about letting John go.

It was merely to prevent the matter from entering public procedures and stop John’s real-world identity from being dug up through judicial records, the media, or other capital groups following the trail.

As for suppressing the information inside the guild, it was not because the Chairman was merciful.

It was only to prevent other forces from cutting in ahead of them.

Overlord_Dawn said nothing more and turned to leave.

After the office door closed, the Chairman picked up the phone and dialed a number.

"Arrange for a few people to go to John’s former residence immediately. Do not take action, and do not alarm him.

"All you need to do is confirm whether he still lives there and whether anyone else has contacted him ahead of us.

"If he appears, report to me immediately."

The person on the other end of the phone answered in a low voice.

Then the Chairman hung up and stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the city nightscape.

On the screen behind him, the name Outlander still occupied the number one spot on the trending list.

The Chairman chuckled softly.

"A world-class quest, a God-Rank reward, and now first-sequence priority on the military department’s watchlist.

"If such a massive bargaining chip were ruined by one sentence from that idiot son of mine, that would be the real pity."

He turned and looked at the file on the desk.

At the very bottom of the document, there was another internal note, most of it covered by black ink.

[Warning: The abnormality level of the game continues to rise!]

[Recommendation: All cooperating groups should prioritize contact with high-value players!]

[Future real-world impact level: Unknown]

The Chairman lightly tapped his fingers against the desk.

"So it really isn’t a simple game..."

"Then it must not be handled like a simple game either."
