Chapter 359: Chapter 329: Venomous Bug Attack

By the time Flora Bloom, Neal Wallace, and Cynthia Grant arrived at the entrance, the Adler family’s estate was already surrounded by superpower users led by Keaton Thorne.

The Adler family lived in a villa with a small garden enclosed by a waist-high bamboo fence. By now, several of the Adler family’s superpower users were already inside the fence, facing off against the ones surrounding it.

Admittedly, the Adler family’s Combat Power was impressive. Even the few superpower users who had come out were all Level 3.

Although the Thorne family had brought a large number of superpower users, most were only Second Level; there were just six at Level 3. For some reason, the one person Flora knew of, an elder named Regan Thorne who was on the verge of attaining a High-level Superpower, hadn’t come this time.

Flora did a quick headcount. The Thorne family had brought fifteen Second Level and six Level 3 superpower users, but no Middle-Level ones. Beyond them, there was a huge crowd of dozens of Level 1 users—people who were a little stronger than average but complete fodder in front of a Level 3. They had swarmed to surround the entire Adler estate.

When Keaton Thorne saw Flora Bloom, his face twisted with resentment. He looked at her as if he wanted to tear her limb from limb. His expression might as well have had "Vengeance for my daughter" written across it in bold letters.

"Flora Bloom, did you think you could hide? I’m going to kill you and avenge my daughter!"

In truth, Flora Bloom couldn’t care less about the superpower users before her. The only person in the Thorne family who gave her even a moment’s pause was Regan Thorne.

But Regan Thorne hadn’t shown up, had he? ’I hope he stays away,’ she thought. ’At least until I’ve dealt with this lot!’

Just then, Simon arrived with his wife, and Robin Grant followed close behind.

"Keaton, can’t we talk this over?" Simon said, his tone impartial. "Why resort to force inside the base? You know superpower users aren’t allowed to fight and kill each other here. That was the agreement our five great families made. You’re not thinking of going back on your word, are you?"

From a practical standpoint, he had a cooperative relationship with the Thorne family. The other major families needed the Thornes’ researchers to continuously provide the base with data and combat strategies related to superpower users. But the Thorne family’s research also depended on the support of the other four families.

But on a personal level, his investigation had shown that this young woman, Flora Bloom, was shrouded in secrets and miracles. ’If it’s all true,’ he thought, ’she could become our salvation in this apocalypse. That’s a reliance that can’t be replaced by simple alliances or mutual benefit!’

But they didn’t dare gamble on it yet, as their suspicions remained unconfirmed. Their desire for a peaceful resolution was primarily due to their children’s relationship with Flora Bloom.

"It’s easy for you to talk, it wasn’t your child who died! Rianne was my firstborn! You all watched her grow up, and now she’s dead! If it weren’t for Flora Bloom, she would be giving birth to my grandchild right now! She would still be alive and well!"

Everyone present had seen the surveillance footage. It’s often said that what goes around comes around, and that people who don’t cause trouble, even if they’re unlucky, don’t just drop dead. A rich young lady like Rianne Thorne—proud, arrogant, and terrified of death—should have been able to live to a ripe old age by simply being a little more cowardly.

As luck would have it, Flora Bloom saw her dragging another pregnant woman.

Flora wouldn’t call herself a crusader, but she couldn’t just stand by and watch such an injustice. And Rianne Thorne, of all people, had the misfortune of trying to sacrifice someone else to save her own skin right in front of her.

In that case, too bad. The evildoer dies first. No exceptions.

And now, the evildoer’s family had come for revenge.

"A life for a life, Flora Bloom. If you obediently die and accompany my daughter, this matter ends here! But if you dare to resist..." He chuckled darkly. "Well, don’t blame me for what happens to your parents and family all the way back in Morhaven!"

Hearing this, Flora’s heart sank. It wasn’t because she was afraid of Keaton Thorne’s threat.

The plant life in Morhaven was now split into two factions. One was the collection of plants and flowers that were mentally linked to her, forming a vast underground root network. The other was the mass of vegetation that had emerged from the crater in the botanical garden, completely changing Morhaven’s landscape.

Although Flora’s plants only occupied a small part of Morhaven, they tenaciously held their own against this invasive flora. In fact, over the past few days, they had even shown faint signs of assimilating them.

’It wasn’t arrogance; it was confidence.’ She knew that as things stood, no outside creature could get into the Morhaven safe zone without her say-so.

’Anyone who tried to harm her parents would likely be devoured by the wild vegetation long before they even reached the safe zone.’
