Chapter 357: Chapter 328: Is This... a Pimp?

Simon didn’t stand on ceremony. After he took his seat, Neal Wallace and the beautiful woman beside him sat down as well.

The beautiful woman had aged gracefully. Even in plain clothes, she couldn’t conceal her innate air of nobility.

"You must be Flora Bloom, right?"

Flora Bloom nodded. "And you are?"

"I’m Simon’s wife. Neal’s stepmother." The beautiful woman said it with a casual air, showing no trace of awkwardness. In fact, Flora Bloom found the woman poised and refreshingly direct, not at all pretentious.

Whether before or after the apocalypse, Simon had always projected an image of being meticulous and cautious. He was unfailingly prudent in his affairs, yet he had an indelible stain on his record when it came to matters of the heart.

His first marriage hadn’t ended amicably. The ensuing scandal had been the talk of the town, so much so that even Flora Bloom, who was only in high school at the time, remembered it clearly.

What surprised Flora Bloom, however, was that the normally taciturn Neal Wallace was actually a member of the Wallace family. On her team, Neal had been hardworking and uncomplaining, doing whatever she said without a single word of protest.

There had been no hint of his incredibly powerful family background. No wonder. When she’d previously asked if anyone on the team wanted to leave and search for family, Old Monroe, a loner with no ties, had been content to stay—if he ate, his whole family was fed.

Luna Thorne and Leigh Atwood had left long ago since their families were in Aeridor. Mervin Warren had also departed early, following Lex Cross back to Argent.

Flora Bloom recalled that Neal Wallace had never asked to go home to find relatives, nor had he ever mentioned having any family at all. ’Come to think of it,’ she thought, ’with his family background, they were the least likely to have met with disaster, even in the apocalypse.’

"Flora, I saw you were being followed, so I came to check on you."

Like Titan Adler, Simon naturally had a dossier on Flora Bloom; in fact, he probably knew even more than Titan Adler. He was also well aware that when the apocalypse began, Flora Bloom was the one who had saved Neal Wallace.

"Miss Bloom, thank you for saving Neal’s life. What can I do to express my gratitude for saving my son?"

Flora Bloom was a little unsure how to respond to such a direct offer of gratitude. She had only helped Neal Wallace back then because she saw in him the same pain and indignant fury from a betrayal that she herself had experienced in her past life.

"Sir, Mr. Wallace is a very important partner to me. You’re being too formal."

Hearing this, Simon nodded happily. "Ah, yes, yes, I’ve heard all about it. You and our Neal have been through all sorts of hardships together. It truly hasn’t been easy! Not easy at all!"

Simon paused for a few seconds, his expression turning subtle as his gaze sharpened. "How about this, Miss Bloom? Why don’t you come stay at my home? Consider it my way of repaying you for saving my unworthy son’s life!"

Flora Bloom frowned sharply at Simon’s proposal and shot a meaningful glance toward Neal Wallace at her side.

Neal Wallace understood her meaning and was about to refuse on her behalf when two more people suddenly entered from outside.

"Old Woods, poaching someone from under my roof so openly? Isn’t that a bit much?" Robin Grant’s voice, though aged, was powerful and resonant. He was followed by Cynthia Grant, who bounced over to Flora Bloom’s side.

"Flora, I finally found you! Rianne Thorne is dead..." Cynthia Grant was normally an optimist, but now that she’d found Flora Bloom, her expression grew grim. She was about to say more when Robin Grant cut her off.

"The Thorne family sent people to the house looking for you today. When they didn’t find you, they sent men to search the entire base. They won’t let this matter rest." Robin Grant watched Flora Bloom, his eyes showing concern. But his gaze was also wise and bright; it seemed he was not just worried, but also curious to see how Flora would resolve this mess with the Thorne family.

They had only exchanged a few more words when a servant from the Adler family burst in. "Family Head, this is terrible! The head of the Thorne family has surrounded our estate with his men!"

Titan Adler’s eyes flashed with anger as he slammed his hand on the table. "That Keaton Thorne has some nerve, daring to surround my home."

Flora Bloom smiled faintly and rose to her feet. "Sigh. It’s always something." With that, she started to walk out.

"Flora, I’ll go with you!" Neal Wallace stood up and followed behind her. When Simon saw this, he couldn’t contain his sheer delight.

’Excellent, excellent!’ he thought. ’This son of mine is dependable after all! That girl, Flora Bloom, is incredibly capable. If my son can win her over, the Wallace family will gain another major powerhouse.’
