Chapter 354: Chapter 327: An Invitation from the Adler Family?
"What’s with the Adler family? Were you just trying to ambush me from behind?" Flora Bloom asked coolly. The two men grew even more nervous when they heard her.
"No, no, no! We definitely weren’t trying to ambush you! We’re just following the Family Head’s orders to invite you to the Adler residence as a guest. We really mean no harm! The Family Head has already prepared a banquet and is waiting for you!"
Flora Bloom’s expression screamed, ’Are you serious?’ She’d only been at the base for a few days. For Titan Adler to be so eager to host a banquet for her... she suspected it was a trap.
"I’m not going." Flora Bloom turned and walked away, leaving the two men in the mist. She stepped out of its range and went on her way.
But she hadn’t gotten far before two more superpower users began tailing her. This time, it was a Wind Ability user and a Gold Ability User. They didn’t approach her directly or try to test her. Instead, they followed from afar, keeping a safe distance and always making sure there were a few passersby between them.
They had seen with their own eyes how the mist Flora Bloom had suddenly conjured had enveloped their two companions. Their partners had vanished inside it, and they had no idea if they were even alright. They had to be extra cautious.
Flora Bloom arrived at the Argent Base’s supply exchange market.
The market had the feel of one of those exceptionally bustling night markets from before the apocalypse. As evening fell and the sky began to dim, the market’s communal lights gradually flickered on, growing brighter.
The street market on Perrin Street was lined with stalls partitioned by sheets of various fabrics and nylon. Each partitioned space housed a vendor.
Though "vendors" might be the word, they were really just ordinary civilians and superpower users, laying out their possessions to trade with passersby.
The number of people following her grew. Every dozen steps or so, different superpower users would emerge from various directions. They appeared to be wandering aimlessly, but she was the sole focus of their attention.
Flora Bloom’s original plan was to head for a crowded area, then use the jostling throng as cover to slip into her pocket dimension and evade her pursuers. However, after walking only a few dozen meters into the market, she caught a glimpse of a crystal-clear red gemstone at a stall near her feet.

The red gemstone radiated a gentle yet abundant energy, compelling Flora Bloom to stop in her tracks.
Hyper-aware of her surroundings, she noticed that despite the crowds milling about, no one else seemed to see anything unusual about the gemstone.
’Isn’t this one of the Energy Gemstones from the cave, inside that world within the Eye of Earthfire volcano back in Morhaven? And it’s red, the highest energy level.’
Although it was only the size of a Crystal Core, it held an energy that was far more abundant and pure. She didn’t dare to stare at the stall, instead using her peripheral vision to get a look at the vendor’s face and commit it to memory before quickly moving away.
’This gemstone most likely came from a secret realm near Argent Base. The fact that this vendor has it means he might have been near that realm, or he might even know its exact location. I have to find a time to ask him about it. Maybe I can find a lead on Lex Cross and the others.’
However, just as Flora Bloom moved a dozen meters away, several people who had been manning stalls suddenly packed up, stood, and began to close in on her position.
’What the hell? The Adler family even has people posing as vendors in the market? They really are everywhere, with spies in every corner.’
In what appeared to be a bustling, shoulder-to-shoulder marketplace, Flora Bloom was now surrounded. More than eighty percent of the people around her were with the Adler family.
’If I just vanished into thin air now, it would be too suspicious. Rather than risk them discovering the secret of my pocket dimension, I might as well go with them and see what kind of "banquet" this is. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get a decent free meal out of it.’
Deep down, Flora Bloom still had some confidence. ’After all,’ she thought, ’Lex Cross is currently inhabiting the body of Titan Adler’s genius eldest son. No matter how much Titan dislikes him, the baby in my belly is his grandchild. Even a vicious tiger won’t eat its own young!’
’No, wait. This particular tiger *does* have a record of "eating its young"! He might just dislike Lex Cross so much that he despises his child and anyone associated with him. In that case, things could get ugly.’
Just as she was about to pull her old trick and unleash the mist, Regan Thorne arrived with a large group of superpower users, rushing over from a short distance away. Flora Bloom could even hear Regan Thorne’s subordinates asking people in the crowd a question.
"Have you seen a woman who’s about five months pregnant? Long hair... yes, she’s very beautiful."
