Chapter 352: Chapter 326: Still Not Opening the Door? They’re All Dead

Flora Bloom glanced awkwardly at the pregnant woman. ’Oh, well,’ she thought. ’I can’t exactly hold everyone to my own standards, can I? Besides, she’s just an ordinary person who hasn’t awakened a superpower.’

’I’ll consider this my good deed for the day and give her a hand.’ With that, Flora Bloom dragged the woman to a nearby wall, propped her up, and formed a thick water shield to protect her. Then, gripping her axe, she went back to fighting the remaining pregnant and infant zombies.

Flora Bloom was enveloped in a layer of water shield, but she took special care to add a triple layer over her abdomen.

Over thirty zombies had rushed down from the upper floor, and once the fetuses burst from their wombs, the number of zombies would double.

And while she was dealing with the horde, several of the original pregnant women on the first floor also got infected.

The longer the apocalypse dragged on, the more potent and active the zombie virus became. These pregnant women, with no resistance, turned into new zombies just a few seconds after being infected.

Throughout the entire ordeal, Flora Bloom only used her Water Ability to protect herself. She relied on pure physical strength to kill the zombies, secretly replenishing her stamina with spiritual water whenever she got tired before continuing the slaughter.

Finally, every moving zombie on the first floor of the maternity quarantine zone was dead. The floor was littered with the corpses of over seventy women and just as many infant zombies. The few pregnant women who had been lucky enough to escape injury leaned against a wall, letting out a sigh of relief but still too scared to even breathe loudly.

In the meeting room, a group of people stared at the monitor. Onscreen, a pregnant woman holding an axe moved among the zombie corpses on the floor. With each step, she brought the axe down, splitting open a zombie’s skull and stirring the brain matter within.

"Tsk, tsk. They turned into zombies too quickly. Not enough time to form Crystal Cores. What a shame."

The onlookers held their breath as they watched Flora Bloom use water from her superpower to wash her hands. She then leaned against the wall and stared at the camera, as if looking right at them.

"Hey, have you seen enough? They’re all dead. If you don’t open this door soon, there’s going to be another corpse!" Flora Bloom kicked Rianne Thorne, who had already passed out from the pain. Suddenly, Cecilia Lyon, who was nearby, also began to bleed from her lower body and cried out in agony.

Flora Bloom added nonchalantly, "Oh, actually, make that two corpses."

Keaton Thorne’s heart ached as he watched his eldest daughter, Rianne Thorne. He yelled into the microphone, "Open the door! Open the door now!"

Just then, however, Titan Adler frowned. "This Flora Bloom is covered in zombie blood and brain matter. It’s highly likely she’s been infected. Everyone here should know how powerful a zombie becomes when it’s a mutated superpower user, right? I do not agree to opening the door now!"

Simon voiced his agreement. "We must be cautious! The peace we’ve fought so hard to achieve in Argent Base is at stake!"

"I... sigh!" Hector Grant stared at Cecilia Lyon’s blood-soaked lower half on the screen. "She’s a lost cause. A complete lost cause!" After saying this, he turned and left the meeting room with his two superpower users in tow.

Liam Todd sighed. "This Flora Bloom is certainly formidable. However, I believe her Superpower Level must be very high, giving her strong resistance to the zombie virus. She won’t be easily infected! I propose we let them out."

Robin Grant, who had taken Hector Grant’s seat, suddenly spoke up, and his words silenced everyone in the room.

"Since we can’t agree, let’s put it to a vote. As for the Grant family, this old man will cast our vote."

Although Hector Grant was the Family Head of the Grant family, Robin Grant’s reputation far surpassed his. The reason was Robin’s medical expertise. As the person in charge of the base’s medical services, he was sought after for all manner of ailments, big and small.

As such, most people were willing to give him face. Furthermore, many had benefited from his benevolent medical care before the apocalypse and held him in high esteem.

"Since Old Man Grant has spoken, we will all show you that respect."

Just before the vote, Cynthia Grant looked at Titan Adler with immense scorn. "Uncle Adler," she said, "there’s something I have to say. I’m afraid you’ll regret it later if I don’t."

Titan Adler frowned at Cynthia Grant, but out of respect for Robin Grant, he asked amiably, "Oh? Cynthia, please, speak freely."

"The child in Flora Bloom’s belly belongs to Lex Adler of your Adler family. I wonder, do you still think we shouldn’t open the stone door and let her out?"

Upon hearing this, Titan Adler’s expression turned incredibly solemn, then extremely excited, before finally settling into a neutral mask. If Cynthia Grant hadn’t been watching him the whole time, she wouldn’t have believed a person’s face could display so many emotions in an instant.

"Is this true?" Titan Adler asked, his eyes narrowing.

"Of course it is!"

Titan Adler fell silent for a moment, then a strange glint appeared in his eyes. "Well then, let’s vote!"

"All in favor of letting the remaining pregnant women out of the quarantine zone, raise your hands."

Liam Todd was the first to raise his hand in agreement, followed by Robin Grant.

Keaton Thorne raised his hand and said anxiously, "It’s three to two now! Aren’t you going to let them out?"

Titan Adler glanced at the unmoving Simon, a smirk playing on his lips. He leaned into the microphone and said, "Open the stone door."

Keaton Thorne rushed out of the meeting room with two superpower users and ran toward the maternity quarantine zone. Cynthia Grant pulled Robin Grant and Neal Wallace along, hurrying in the same direction. The other family heads, all curious about this woman named Flora Bloom, followed close behind. Liam Todd left one of his superpower users to escort Chelsea Todd back to the Todd family estate, then went after them as well.

A pregnant woman with such combat prowess was a true rarity. According to Chelsea Todd’s description, she was not only a Water Ability User but could also control giant mutated animals? This made the family heads even more curious.

The stone door slowly opened, and Flora Bloom walked out, axe in hand, like a veritable War God.

When the surviving pregnant women saw the stone door open, they rushed out excitedly. After undergoing an inspection by the guards outside, they quickly dispersed.

"Of the three pregnant women inside, the one by the wall can still be saved. As for the other two, I have no idea!"

Liam Todd had seen Flora Bloom use a water shield to protect Melissa Joyce on the monitor. He quickly thanked her before taking his men inside to carry Melissa out.

Keaton Thorne also rushed in and carried out his eldest daughter. As he passed Flora Bloom, his eyes were full of venom. "If anything happens to my daughter or my grandchild, the Thorne family will not let you off the hook!"

As for the last one, Cecilia Lyon, she was ignored. Hector Grant had already left, and Cynthia Grant despised the woman who had interfered in her parents’ marriage. By standard procedure, the injured were sent to the temporary hospital at Argent Base, which was managed by Robin Grant.

"Take her to the temporary hospital. Make sure she’s isolated," Robin Grant ordered, calling people over to carry Cecilia Lyon away. He then walked toward Flora Bloom.

"Young friend Flora Bloom, I am Cynthia Grant’s grandfather, Robin Grant. Cynthia has often mentioned what a good friend you are. I was wondering, do you have a place to stay in Argent?"

Flora Bloom shook her head. "You’re too kind, Grandpa Grant. As it happens, I don’t have a place to stay, but I wouldn’t want to impose on you."

Cynthia Grant, however, showed no such reservation and hooked her arm through Flora Bloom’s. "Oh, Grandpa, stop with all the pleasantries. Flora isn’t a stranger! Let’s go, let’s go. We’re going home."

Cynthia Grant held onto Flora Bloom with one arm and pulled Robin Grant with the other. Seeing that Neal Wallace wasn’t moving, she called out, "Mr. Wallace, what are you standing around for? Hurry up and come with us!"

Suddenly, Simon walked over with a pleasant expression and stood before the group. He looked at Neal Wallace, and his face abruptly turned serious.

"What? Are you still not planning on coming home?"
