Chapter 344: Chapter 322: Pregnant Women’s Quarantine Zone (3)

Flora Bloom was getting pissed. It wasn’t that she particularly wanted a sleeping bag someone else had used, but she had planned on laying low here for another couple of days before heading out. Yet, someone just had to stir up trouble.

Flora Bloom’s gaze fell upon the woman’s stomach. The woman was decked out head-to-toe in designer brands—a QV suit, PCV shoes, and even diamond-studded nail polish from some high-end boutique. A single nail was supposedly worth a thousand bucks.

But what Flora Bloom found most ridiculous was that in this quarantine zone filled with pregnant women, everyone had gone at least three days without a shower. Newcomers from other cities might not have bathed at all since the apocalypse began two months ago.

The whole place reeked of a strange odor, yet this woman was doused in a thick cloud of perfume.

"You look like you’re at least nine months along. Due soon?" Flora Bloom asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as she stared at the woman’s belly.

Flora Bloom’s expression made the woman’s heart skip a beat. "Wh-what do you want? Why are you staring at my stomach! I’m telling you, don’t try anything funny! If you do, my parents will make you pay!"

"What are you getting so worked up about? It’s true that a belly that big must be inconvenient." Flora Bloom glanced at the other pregnant women, who were silently watching the drama unfold.

The quarantine zone wasn’t actually that small. Each floor was over 150 square meters and housed about seventy or eighty pregnant women. And next to the empty sleeping bag, a pregnant woman had been lying there for a long time, her eyes completely vacant.

Flora Bloom’s spiritual power had been scanning the woman’s body for a while now. The woman had stopped breathing long ago. A faint, rotten stench emanated from her belly, but it was masked by the strange odors coming from all the unwashed pregnant women.

But who was Flora Bloom? Even as a Level 1 superpower user, she had possessed a Sea of Consciousness Vortex, something only a High-level Superpower User should have. Not only was the intensity of her superpower comparable to a High-level Superpower User, but her spiritual power was also countless times stronger than that of an average user.

Flora Bloom didn’t know how to calculate the exact multiplier, but she did know that she could easily sense the Superpower Level and elemental affiliation of anyone nearby. It seemed no one else could do that.

Seeing Flora Bloom back down, the pregnant woman scoffed. "That’s more like it! At least you know your place. My husband is coming to get me out of here tomorrow. Maybe I’ll even put in a good word for you so you can leave a little early!"

Flora Bloom shot her a derisive look but didn’t say a word. With a slight smirk on her lips, she strode away from the second-floor rest area. After returning to the first floor, she found a less crowded spot against a wall, spread the blanket she was holding on the ground, and leaned back to close her eyes.

This place gave her a profound sense of unease, yet leaving seemed to be a complicated affair. Cynthia Grant had already gone home. ’I hope that girl is reliable,’ Flora thought. ’I need her to find out what happened to Lex Cross.’

Upstairs, the woman who had snatched the sleeping bag smugly curled up inside it and began chatting with the pregnant women next to her.

"I’m telling you all, don’t be so pessimistic. It’s just three days in here, right? When I get out tomorrow, I’ll have someone send in some hot food and water for everyone. The time will fly by!"

"And that one downstairs—hey, you, the one who tried to take my sleeping bag! Lucky for you, you were smart enough not to get on my bad side, or you’d really be in for it tomorrow!"

At first, only three or four women chimed in, but as soon as they heard the promise of food, many more immediately poked their heads out of their sleeping bags.

"Really? You have to remember us, then! It’s too hard for us, suffering in a place like this while pregnant! My husband said he was going to pull some strings to get me out early, but I haven’t heard a peep!"

"Yeah, my parents used to move in the elite circles in Argent, but even after they tried pulling all sorts of connections for me, it was no use. They just forcibly dragged me here and said I had to be quarantined for three days! Sigh!"

"Ahem, you all just don’t get it! Don’t you know the Five Great Families run Argent now? If you don’t have connections, you can’t get anything done! I’m related to the matriarch of the Todd family, one of the Five Great Families. That’s why I’ve only been in here one day and can leave tomorrow!"

"Wow, that’s amazing!"

"I’m so jealous! A few of us have been starving for almost two days! After one more day of this, even when our time is up, I’m afraid we won’t even have the strength to crawl out of here!"

"Yeah, they only give us half a cup of water a day. I don’t even have the energy to walk anymore!"

As the group got more and more worked up, one of the pregnant women near the second-floor staircase stood up and asked, "Hey, did that heavyset woman tell you all when you came in? About the numbered tags that show your identity and quarantine time? You have to guard them carefully! When I arrived, someone told me there have been several incidents here where people steal someone else’s tag because they want to leave early.

All of you need to be careful. Don’t just trust anyone, or you might find your tag stolen right when you’re supposed to be released. The people in charge outside don’t recognize faces, only tags, and they won’t give you extra food just because you’re stuck in here longer. You won’t die from drinking only water, but as for that little one in your belly... who knows!"

The pregnant woman who had stolen Flora Bloom’s sleeping bag shot to her feet, glaring as she pointed a finger at the speaker. "What nonsense are you spouting! Say that again!"

But the only answer she received was an infant zombie suddenly bursting out of the sleeping bag right next to her.
