Chapter 1270: The color of love

Hai woke up. Not on his own. Neither with a jolt nor a gasp. His eyes fluttered open, plain and simple, as they would after every nightmare. His chest heaved up and down restlessly like every other time that threatened his heart to break out of his ribcage.

The white ceiling looked crimson to him, blurred and unfocused. Despite blinking several times, the red didn’t seem to leave his sight. Swallowing a gulp, he pursed his dry lips. Then he glanced at his left.

Nestled in his arm was Chunhua, sleeping soundly with a measured breathing. Her soft breaths tickled his chest like a delicate butterfly taking its first flight. He turned to lay on his left, gently wrapping his right arm over her waist and tugging her closer. She didn’t look red to him.

The patter of raindrops splashed against the window darkened with the night’s shade, and with the onset of this unexpected chill, it was only being in her proximity that his agitated heartbeats slowed down by the color of her warmth.

He gazed at her sleeping face for a long time. He didn’t know what he was searching in those beautiful lashes of hers that his finger faintly hovered over them. Then they traced down to her cheek, drawing circles over it. The fluttery movement caused her brows to draw together only ever-so-lightly. From her cheek, he went down her nape and as expected, it being her sensitive place brought a further stir to her sleep.

A small yawn escaped her lips and she looked up drowsily, coming face-to-face with Hai’s handsome face. The only sound echoing in the silent room was of the pitter-patter of the raindrops against the window. With a realization that summoned a deep crimson flush onto her cheeks, her fingertips gripped the edge of the blanket, dragging it upwards to bury her face. But with just a flick of his finger, he withdrew her fruitless attempts.

"Where are you hiding, my Goddess?"

"Stop talking."

"Ah, I see. You want me to stop talking and start doing instead."

"...I didn’t mean that."

"How can I not understand what my Goddess wants?"

With a flip, he turned over her, trapping her within the confines of his arms. Tilting her chin, he kissed her - which once when began, continued like the onslaught of outside rain. The sheets rustled amidst the rising heat drowning down the chill in the air and their soft whimpers of pleasure that overwhelmed even the roaring thunder of the sky.

Their interlocked fingers and her nails that pierced his back with her scars rushed untold and unseen waves, shuddering the very depths of his core. Once wasn’t enough and so wasn’t twice as her fair chest now delightedly stung with the trail of his bite marks. The red hue on her face only flourished deeper with each thrust, but this was the red he liked to see. The color of red that trembled beneath him with joy and ecstacy.

As the peak left them breathless, Hai noticed her eyelids becoming drowsy with fatigue and sleep. He smiled and pecked her temple.

"I love you, Chunhua. Thank you for accepting me. Thank you..." a flicker of light passed his eyes, "for not asking me."

Chunhua woke up for the second time with a body so heavy she could barely lift by herself anymore. Burying herself in the blanket, she screamed into the void. A glance beside her told her that Hai was already up because he wasn’t on the bed anymore. She somehow stood back on her feet and picked up her fallen dress off the floor, then scolded Hai in her mind for all the unspeakable things they did - Before marriage.

Opening the door, she took a peek outside but found the living room completely empty. But the clatter of dishes came from the kitchen and she blinked. It was almost 10 in the evening now, making her wonder if Hai was whipping up a late dinner. Tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear, she contemplated for a bit. She felt way too shy now to face him.

W-What am I supposed to talk about?

"Oh. You are awake. Hello."

Her focus snapped and repositioned at the figure standing before him that made her freeze on the spot.

"...Um...P...Pr...Professor Chen...?"

Guiren said, "I am still an assistant professor. But good evening."

Did Hai call him here?

Her heart took a deep dive into the unknown. She was a student and he was a professor in the same college. And now he had caught her in her boyfriend’s house at a compromising time.

"Th-That..." she trembled while still stuck to the door side. "Th-This is n-not what it l-looks like...I-I am not..." her thoughts were completely spinning out of control at this point. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"Heeellllloooooooo my cutieeeeees!!!"

The door opened with a bang of Hai’s entry, followed by Liling.

"Oh, my Goddess is awake!" he beamed. "Good, good. Just the time to stuff our stomachs with some good food~"

Chunhua threw him a blank stare. "Y-You...Wh-when did you invite them h-here...?"

Guiren placed the trays on the dining table and glanced at her. "This is my house."

An uncomfortable silence stretched but only between Guiren and Chunhua.

"...Sorry? Your house...? B-But this is...Hai’s house, isn’t it...?"

"It’s my house."

"...He said it’s his second home."

Hai finally looked up after stuffing down some snacks. "Hm? Yeah. Guiren’s home, my home, all the same, all the same, hohoho~!"

The uncomfortable silence brought some uncomfortable feelings in her chest because now the gravity of sins just increased tenfold for Chunhua. Not only was she caught with a man at such a late time but she was caught in her professor’s house, doing all the unspeakable things in the professor’s house.

"Aye? Why do you look so pale, my Goddess? Guiren is chill, don’t worry~"

Liling slapped her own forehead.

Hopeless man!

Chunhua only trembled further.

I am a student and in a professor’s house...in a professor’s house...in a professor’s house...

They all saw her collapse with a thud, passing out.

Hai pouted. "Aish, I think she wanted to sleep a bit longer."

Liling glared. "Idiot brother, it’s all your fault! You...you...I mean think from her perspective a little! She is a student and Ch-Chen Guiren is a professor! And she is in a professor’s house..."

Hai pouted again. "What does it matter? Aish, Chunhua faints for the strangest of things, I tell you."
