Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Change Your Name to Beatrice Lynn

"Hey, Cecilia Sterling clearly said within a week. How come you’re changing it to three days?"

"Exactly. If we’re going to hold her to her word, it’s only fair to stick to the original terms Cecilia mentioned."

Some students spoke up to support Cecilia Sterling, but others, just loving the drama, egged them on.

"If she really had the means, would three days or five days even matter? It’s just a matter of placing one order, right?"

"That’s right. If you’ve really got what it takes, time is just a number. You could place the order now and have it delivered by tonight."

Hearing this, Beatrice Lynn deliberately raised her voice and looked at Cecilia Sterling. "Just three days. Do you dare take the bet?"

She wanted to humiliate Cecilia Sterling in front of everyone. A week was too long; she couldn’t wait to see Cecilia scurry out of Lorcain Tech with her tail between her legs.

’The very thought is hilarious.’

"Cecilia, don’t listen to her." Shawn Lane saw that the two were actually making a bet, and with Beatrice Lynn being so aggressive, it was clear she wasn’t leaving Cecilia any way out. He shook his head and said urgently, "Without me, how could you possibly..."

"What’s so impossible?" Cecilia Sterling shot him a cold glance and sneered, "Shawn Lane, do you really know me? Am I, Cecilia Sterling, the kind of person who makes empty promises?"

Shawn Lane froze at her words, feeling as if her question had jolted him.

’That’s right. Cecilia Sterling never promised anything beyond her capabilities. If it was something she couldn’t or wouldn’t do, she always refused outright.’

Like the time he asked her to wear black stockings for him.

Cecilia Sterling then turned to Beatrice Lynn. "Forget three days. Let’s make it today."

As soon as she finished speaking, she picked up her phone, called back the delivery driver from just now, and said softly once connected, "Excuse me, could you bring it to the cafeteria entrance?"

Seeing Cecilia Sterling’s actions, a commotion rippled through the surrounding crowd.

"What does that mean? It’s already here?"

"Could be bubble tea she ordered."

"Then what did she mean by ’forget three days, make it today’? It obviously means she’s already bought them!"

"No way! Did Cecilia Sterling really buy them? Four astronomical telescopes?"

Beatrice Lynn couldn’t help but feel a little panicked hearing this, but she forced herself to remain calm, giving herself a mental pep talk. She still said contemptuously to Cecilia Sterling, "Stop putting on an act."

"Heh. If the sky fell, your mouth would be there to hold it up." Cecilia Sterling let out a cold laugh, then turned and pulled Estelle toward the cafeteria entrance.

Seeing this, the surrounding students abandoned their food and followed them. Only those farther away cast confused glances in their direction, clearly unaware of the interesting events unfolding.

At the cafeteria entrance, a crowd surrounded Cecilia Sterling. Following her gaze toward the school’s main gate, they saw an SF Express van slowly driving toward them, led by campus security.

Normally, delivery vehicles like this weren’t allowed on campus; entry was only permitted under special circumstances. The moment everyone saw the van approaching, they grew excited.

’Is that the van delivering the astronomical telescopes?’ Shawn Lane was utterly dumbfounded.

The van slowly stopped in front of the crowd. A staff member in an SF Express uniform got out of the passenger seat and asked, "Which of you is Miss Sterling?"

"I am." Cecilia Sterling walked forward calmly and smiled. "Thank you. You can unload the items right here; this spot is fine."

The cafeteria entrance was the most crowded place on campus during lunch. Since the story had already spread throughout the school as a joke, she would use this method to let everyone on campus know the outcome.

She, Cecilia Sterling, keeps her word. No empty promises!

The back of the van opened, and two delivery men unloaded the items together. The four boxes didn’t take up much space, but the brand name printed on them, "Harper," told everyone exactly what was inside.

"Holy shit, it’s really Harper!"

"Four Harper telescopes. Cecilia Sterling is actually donating them?"

"I was so out of line. I feel like a fucking clown for laughing at her."

"Cecilia Sterling won! That other girl has to go to the athletic field and scream that she’s a dumbass!"

Cecilia Sterling showed no signs of joy. With an indifferent expression, she walked up to the dumbfounded Beatrice Lynn. "Do you want to open one and assemble it to check if they’re real? Or should I just show you a screenshot of the order?"

Beatrice Lynn snapped back to reality, her expression uglier than if she’d eaten shit. In just a few seconds, her face went from white to red, then from red to black. "Cecilia Sterling, you did this on purpose, didn’t you?"

"On purpose? What did I do on purpose?" Cecilia Sterling asked, feigning confusion. "Haven’t you been the one doing things on purpose this whole time? Purposely trying to provoke me, purposely trying to humiliate me, purposely trying to lead everyone in laughing at my expense."

"I was just cooperating with you. See? Now that I’ve actually cooperated, you’re not happy."

"Or is it that I’m the only one allowed to be the joke, and you’re not? Isn’t that a little too bitchy of you?"

Cecilia Sterling’s tone was very, very light, as if this whole affair was completely insignificant to her. But it was precisely this nonchalant attitude that trampled all over Beatrice Lynn’s pride.

At that moment, Beatrice Lynn had only one feeling: Cecilia Sterling wasn’t taking her seriously at all.

And that was indeed the truth. Cecilia Sterling moved at her own pace. She knew perfectly well that, for now, she had nothing to rely on but her money. That was why she had adopted a hands-off, non-confrontational policy toward Shawn Lane, the Lane Group, and Beatrice Lynn.

She needed time, she needed to build her resources, and she needed to wait for the day she was powerful enough to settle old scores with them.

But unfortunately, some people just didn’t know when to quit and insisted on making a scene in front of her. In that case, she had no choice but to teach them a small lesson, make them remember their place, and let them suffer a bit.

"A bet’s a bet, and everyone is watching," Cecilia Sterling said, tilting her head slightly and furrowing her brow in doubt. "But you look like the type who’s completely shameless. You really seem like the kind of person who’d go back on their word."

Beatrice rose to the bait.

Her eyes widened in anger as she snapped, "Stop spouting nonsense! You really think I’m not brave enough to take the punishment?"

Cecilia Sterling smiled. "You’d better be. If you try to weasel out of it, then from now on, don’t call yourself Beatrice Lynn. Call yourself Beatrice the Bitch. After all, only a bitch would refuse to own up to something like this."

Those words made the students standing around burst out laughing.

"Pfft, Cecilia Sterling is so good at dissing people!"

"Are we allowed to laugh? I can’t fucking hold it in anymore!"

"Beatrice the Bitch, that’s priceless! Bitch, hahahahaha."

Beatrice Lynn, her face flushed red from the surrounding laughter, immediately looked at Shawn Lane with teary eyes and said pitifully, "Shawn, is this the girl you like? Just look at how vicious she is!"

"The bet was voluntary. Now that you’ve lost, you’re calling Cecilia vicious? If Cecilia had lost, would you have let her off the hook?" Estelle retorted angrily.

Shawn Lane had just snapped out of his shock over the four astronomical telescopes and wasn’t in the mood to listen to Beatrice Lynn at all.

He looked at Cecilia Sterling in disbelief, his lips moving for a moment before he managed to ask in shock, "You... bought these yourself?"
