Celestia City is a massive metropolis built on the ruins of a fallen empire. It is a blend of futuristic skyscrapers with neon signs and graded districts to show one’s wealth. It inherited traditional Eastern architecture from its fallen predecessors and boasts one of the most developed cities on the continent.

The distance from Sena’s apartment to the nearest upper level shopping centre was Starlane Plaza, a place that catered to people from middle tier to upper tier districts.

"What a nice car, Maria."

The low hum of the electrical engine rumbled beneath them as Maria’s long fingers gripped the steering wheel. Although owning a car was rare in this age, with shared transport becoming more common, the Sinclair family could easily afford a fleet of cars.

Sena sat in the passenger seat, while Julian was in the back, behind Maria.

"Heh, it’s feisty and pretty, like me, right?"

Julian’s eyes closed, while he refused to answer because he noticed Sena’s sharp gaze from the rearview mirror when Maria asked him.

"Sena’s prettier." A low, muffled huff came from his lips, causing Sena’s flared nostrils and furrowed brows to loosen as a smile came to her lips.

"Hehe, you are so sweet."

"Stop flirting, I’ll kick you out of my car! Damn, annoying love birds…"

Because the pair lived in a high-tier district, almost the maximum parking space was available.

The journey only took a few minutes before Maria started parking on the third floor. With masterful ability and skill, she easily reversed into the spot.

Creak!

"Phew, we are here. Let’s get shopping!" Maria tapped the engine button, before the doors lifted vertically like wings spreading out.

"Julian, let’s go to the lower floors first, and get supplies."

Sena rushed to Julian, leaning against his arm as she whispered into his ear with a cheeky smile. The suggestion was in line with his plans, so he reached out, threading his hands through her silky hair before ruffling the velvet strands.

"Ack! Julian… stop!"

"Haha, you look so cute with messy hair."

"Hmph!"

"You two, hurry, or I’ll leave without you." Maria’s eyes flicked to the doorway, her tone a little distant, but she didn’t move until the other two started walking with her.

"Hehe, see she’s soft-hearted really."

The hot air and sweet scent from Sena’s mouth blew across Julian’s cheek as she whispered with her hand covering her mouth.

Julian’s eyes observed the curvaceous and seductive woman ahead of them in her tight pants and loose shirt that revealed her bra. He couldn’t deny that she wasn’t as disconnected as she sometimes appeared, waiting for Sena and always checking Sena’s reactions.

"I think she’s a good friend to you."

"I know, but you can’t fall for her… just because she has a nice body!"

"Eh? No way. Why would I?" Julian looked at Sena in surprise as she pouted while staring at him. "Your body is the best, I promise." His fingertip poked her nose as the cool air from the plaza washed over them.

He lifted his gaze and observed the shopping centre, a place he had never visited before because it was a little too far from his apartment. And although he could afford it now, he still hadn’t got used to spending money frivolously.

The mall had three floors, one below and two above ground level, and it had around five hundred stores and some stalls in the dining district.

"Then, are we heading to the ground floor?" He asked, while watching the countless people moving about their day, even though it was only mid-morning.

"Yeah, there’s an enormous store that has everything we need down there," Sena said. Her long lashes cast shadows on her high cheekbones, and the sunlight reflected off her raven hair.

Julian followed the direction of her fingertip and saw the entrance filled with people pushing trolleys full of groceries and other products.

As they made their way to the escalator, Julian noticed the strange looks thrown his way by passersby. He almost thought it was because he was a man with two gorgeous women, but then realised it was probably because he was also quite handsome after the upgrade.

"Hmph… all those women are checking out my man, although I am happy… why does it make me angry?"

Sena’s cheeks puffed out as she gripped his arm, her gaze like an angry tiger protecting her meal. However, her actions were so cute that Julian couldn’t help but burst into laughter, causing more strange glances his way.

"Haha, don’t worry so much."

"No! I’m not letting some other girl steal you from me!" She stamped her foot, acting like a child as they stood on the escalator.

"Stop laughing!"

Julian saw Maria’s movements and reactions. He noticed her staring at him, sometimes with an aggressive glare and sometimes with a more curious gaze.

When she saw him looking back, she turned away, but he knew something was up. Still, if she wanted to talk to him about whatever bothered her, she would.

’I still don’t know how this woman took Maria’s place, so I should be careful.’

"Arrival!" Sena bellowed as she yanked Julian and jumped off the escalator before they reached the bottom, and dragged him to get a trolley.

"I’m going to wait by the fountain, okay?" Maria’s nasal voice echoed as she strolled towards it with her hips swaying to the classical music playing in the background.

"Okay! Hehe~ we did it Julian, let’s go on a shopping date!"

A date was just what he needed right now. A break from all the fighting and stress would help clear his mind. Plus, he’d been thinking about something ever since yesterday.

Now he chose to just forget those thoughts and focused on the beautiful smile of his girlfriend.

"Let’s go!" He shouted, grabbing the trolley and dashing into the supermarket.

The pair spent a while having fun, picking up stupid toys and items, playing and flirting, and collecting supplies: non-perishable rations, energy drinks, painkillers, and vitamin supplements—crucial once the game fully integrated with reality.

Their cart became full of food, spare clothes, sanitary pads, and other things, while Sena sat on top of a large portable stove that only needed petrol to light.

Julian sighed in relief as Sena leaned back against his chest. Their cheeks brushed together as she stroked his arm, playfully circling patterns.

"I love you, Julian."

"You keep saying it, and it’ll lose the value." Julian’s low voice echoed, his hands brushing against her soft, gummy lips as the two waited in line to check out.

"Fool, if I don’t tell you how I feel, what if we make a mistake and misunderstand again?"

She slapped his hand away and spun around with a frown.

"I won’t misunderstand you again—I promise."

He grabbed her face with both hands, squishing her cheeks, causing her lips to purse out like a fish.

"When the world falls apart, I will survive and protect you with all I have."

Sena’s eyes widened, her fishy lips tapping together, before she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.

"Yes, you better! Don’t leave me alone again… but Julian." She pulled back and looked at him seriously.

"What is it?"

"Why are you talking like you are going to die? I will be the one to protect you, and we will live happy and have numerous children when everything ends!"

’Somehow, these words felt like they might remain with me for a long time, the idea and belief that things would end, that we might defeat the seven devils and survive.’

Maybe it was at this moment that Julian Pendragon’s resilience and resolve to survive no matter how dirty and reckless he acted started to form.

Bleep!

"Next!"

The cashier yelled out, snapping them out of their embrace.

They blushed awkwardly before paying and leaving the supermarket.

They found Maria sitting by the fountain, with several young men and women standing around her, chatting with each other.

However, it didn’t seem friendly, as the other group didn’t seem to belong in this shopping centre…
