Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Final (Bonus Chapter)
[Aryan’s Perspective, Penthouse]
Kimiko stepped out of her suite.
She was breathtaking.
The dress was a masterpiece of crimson silk, flowing seamlessly over her athletic frame. It hugged her curves delicately before cascading down to the floor in an elegant sweep. The neckline was a subtle plunge, revealing the smooth line of her collarbone.
Her dark hair, usually tied back or falling wildly around her face, had been styled into elegant waves that cascaded over one shoulder.
A minimalist diamond necklace, a gift I had arranged earlier in the week, sparkled faintly against her skin.
She stopped at the edge of the living room, her dark eyes locking onto mine. A nervous blush colored her cheeks.
"Aryan," she said, her voice still possessing that slight rasp. "You look... handsome."
I smiled. "And you look absolutely perfect. The color suits you."
I walked toward her, offering my arm. She took it gently, her fingers resting lightly against the velvet of my sleeve.
"Are we ready?" I asked, looking down at her.
She nodded, an excited smile touching her lips. "Yes. Where are we going?"
"It’s a surprise," I said, leading her toward the private elevator.
We sat in the back of the vintage Rolls Royce Phantom. Kimiko rested her head on my shoulder, her hand intertwined with mine, her thumb drawing slow circles on my knuckles.
We arrived at a discreet building in Tribeca. Marcus opened the door, standing stoically as we stepped out into the cool evening air.
"This way," I said, guiding her toward the heavy wooden double doors.
There was no maitre d’, no bustling lobby, no sound of clinking glasses or overlapping conversations.
I pushed the doors open.
Kimiko gasped, her hand tightening reflexively on my arm.
The entire restaurant, a multi level masterpiece of exposed brick, vaulted ceilings and crystal chandeliers... was completely empty of patrons.
The space had been transformed into a botanical wonderland. Thousands of deep red and pure white roses were arranged in cascading waterfalls down the brick walls, draped over the balconies and clustered in ornate vases on every table. The scent was intoxicating, a romantic perfume that filled the air.
Hundreds of flickering candles provided the only illumination, casting a warm light over the polished wood floors.
In the center of the main dining floor, a single table was set for two, adorned with silver cutlery, crystal wine glasses and a centerpiece of orchids.
In the far corner, a string quartet was playing a soft classical melody, the music drifting through the empty space.
"Aryan," Kimiko whispered, her eyes wide as she took in the impossible scale of the romantic gesture. "There is no one here. The restaurant is closed?"
"It’s not closed," I smiled, leading her slowly toward the central table. "I bought it."
She looked up at me, a mixture of disbelief and profound affection in her dark eyes.
I pulled her chair out, waiting for her to sit before taking my own place across from her.
A private chef, hired exclusively for the evening, presented a five course tasting menu. Seared scallops with caviar, delicate slices of iberico pork that melted on the tongue and a vintage Bordeaux that tasted like liquid velvet.
She spoke of her brother, Kenji, who was settling into his new life in Queens, finally free from the shadows of his past. She spoke of the future, a concept that had seemed entirely alien to her just a few months ago.
"I never thought," Kimiko said, swirling the dark red wine in her glass, her gaze fixed on the dancing candlelight, "that I would ever have a night like this. I thought my life was meant to be lived in cages. First the Shining Light, then the basement..."
She looked up at me, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "You didn’t just open the door, Aryan. You gave me the world outside it."
I reached across the table, taking her free hand in mine. "You earned the world, Kimiko. I just helped you find the view."
As the dinner plates were cleared by a silent staff, the music shifted. The string quartet transitioned from a classical piece into a deeply romantic waltz.
"Dance with me," I said, standing up and offering my hand.
She smiled and took my hand.
I led her away from the table, into the open space of the dining floor, surrounded by the towering walls of roses and the flickering candlelight.
I pulled her close, my arm wrapping securely around her waist, my other hand holding hers against my chest. We moved slowly, swaying to the rhythm of the strings, the rustle of her silk dress the only sound accompanying the music.
She rested her head against my shoulder, her eyes closing as we turned slowly in the empty restaurant.
"This is perfect," she whispered against the velvet of my jacket.
"It’s about to get better," I murmured softly.
I engaged the pinpoint control of my Tier 1 Telekinesis.
High above us, hidden in the shadows of the vaulted ceiling, a complex rig of netting held thousands of velvet soft rose petals.
With a thought, I released the nets.
A single red petal drifted down, catching the candlelight before landing softly on Kimiko’s shoulder.
She opened her eyes, looking down at the petal.
Then, she looked up.
A gasp escaped her lips.
A silent rain of red and white rose petals was falling from the ceiling. They cascaded down in a slow motion flurry of color, spinning and dancing in the warm air, blanketing the restaurant in a breathtaking shower of romance.
The petals fell around us, brushing against our faces, carpeting the polished wooden floor in a fragrant layer of crimson.
Kimiko stepped back, spinning slowly in the falling rain of roses, her hands outstretched, a look of pure wonder on her face.
She laughed... a melodic sound that filled the massive room.
She turned back to me, her eyes shining brilliantly with unshed tears, the red petals resting in her dark hair.
"Aryan," she breathed, overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the moment. "It’s... it’s beautiful."
She looked at me.
I was kneeling on the floor, surrounded by the fallen petals.
In my right hand, I held a small box. The lid was open. Inside, resting on a bed of white satin, was a three carat diamond ring, the facets catching the flickering candlelight and throwing prisms of fire across the dim room.
Her hands flew up to cover her mouth. The breath left her lungs in a staggering rush.
I looked up into her beautiful eyes.
"When I found you in that basement," I began, my voice carrying the absolute weight of my truth, "I thought I was acquiring a weapon."
Tears began to spill over her eyelashes, tracing silent paths down her cheeks. She shook her head slowly, overwhelmed by the emotion flooding the room.
"But I was wrong," I continued, my voice softening. "You are the strongest, most resilient, most beautiful soul I have ever encountered. You showed me that even in a world governed by monsters, there is room for light."
I took a slow breath, pouring every ounce of my heart into the words.
"I have wealth that defies comprehension. I can freeze oceans and tear down skyscrapers. But none of it, not a single fraction of it... means anything if I don’t have you to share it with."
I held the ring up slightly, the diamond sparkling amidst the falling roses.
"Kimiko Miyashiro... will you marry me?"
She dropped to her knees, heedless of the expensive silk dress dragging in the petals. She threw her arms around my neck, burying her face in my shoulder, sobbing openly.
"Yes," she wept, the raspy word muffled against my jacket. "Yes. Yes, Aryan. Yes."
I wrapped my arms tightly around her, burying my face in her dark hair, feeling an overwhelming warmth flood my chest.
We stayed kneeling on the floor for a long time, holding each other tightly as the last of the rose petals drifted down around us.
Eventually, she pulled back, wiping the tears from her flushed cheeks with the back of her hand, a watery smile lighting up her face.
I took the ring from the velvet box and gently slid it onto her trembling finger. It fit perfectly.
She looked at the ring, then up at me, letting out a laugh.
"You bought a restaurant," she sniffled, a playful glint returning to her eyes. "You dropped a million flowers from the ceiling. You are so... dramatic."
"I am a billionaire, Kimiko," I smiled, wiping a stray tear from her cheek. "We don’t do subtle things when it comes to the people we love."
She giggled, leaning her forehead against mine, our noses touching.
"We are going to be a family," she whispered, the words carrying a reverent awe.
"We already are," I promised softly.
She tilted her head, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips.
"So," she said, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial rasp. "If we have a baby... what do we name him?"
I raised an eyebrow, matching her playful tone. "Well, given our unique power sets, I think we need something strong. Something classic. Maybe Arthur? Alexander?"
Kimiko rolled her eyes, shaking her head. She looked at me, deadpan and delivered the punchline with perfect timing.
"Batman."
I stared at her for a second, then burst out laughing, the sound echoing loudly through the rose filled restaurant. She joined in, her laughter mingling with mine.
I pulled her into my arms, kissing her deeply under the flickering candlelight.
[Bonus]
We walked out of the flower strewn ruins of the restaurant, the cold night air a welcome contrast to the heat of the evening.
Kimiko leaned her head against my shoulder, her silent laughter still vibrating through her frame from our last conversation.
I pulled her closer and stepped into the car.
[Well, Boss,] the System’s voice chimed, sounding uncharacteristically sentimental or perhaps just smug. [131,100 XP in the bank, a fiancé and you’ve successfully turned the world’s most dangerous superhero into your personal shapeshifting lackey. I’d say that’s a pretty solid speedrun. What’s next? Global conquest? Intergalactic plundering?]
"Next," I thought, watching Kimiko admire the ring on her finger as we drove through the glittering heart of Manhattan, "I’m going to enjoy the peace."
[Peace? Boring. But hey, as long as I get an invite to the wedding. I hear ’Batman’ is a very popular name for ring bearers these days.]
I let out a soft laugh.
...
[Farewell Message]
And with this, we finally reach the end of this novel.
Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. This journey has been truly special to me. Before January this year, the only "serious" writing I had ever done was medical theses in med school and countless lecture notes, notes that even now I have no idea how I managed to read back then, hahaha.
This was one of my first real attempts at writing a story, and I know there are a lot of mistakes, loopholes, rough moments, and things that could have been done much better. Sometimes I really wanted to go back and fix many parts, improve scenes, rewrite arcs, or polish the story more properly, but balancing hospital work and writing is honestly very difficult. Most of the time, I wrote whenever I had free time in my waiting quarters, when there were no patients around, or when I simply wanted to distract myself from stress and sleepless nights, hahaha.
Even then, writing this novel became something very important to me.
I know not everyone liked the story, the pacing, the personality of the MC, or some of my decisions, and that’s completely fine. Everyone has different tastes. But despite all the flaws, I still poured my heart into this novel, and seeing people read, comment, criticize, support, joke around, and stay until the very end genuinely meant a lot to me.
And if you compare Chapter 1 to the latest Chapters, I think you can clearly see how much I improved throughout this journey. This novel taught me a lot, not just about writing stories, but also about characters, pacing, emotions, and even about myself as a writer.
To every single person who stayed until the end, silently read, commented, or even criticized the story, thank you. Truly, thank you so much. Without you guys, I probably would have stopped long ago.
This may be the end of this novel, but it’s not the end of my writing journey.
I still have many stories I want to tell, many worlds I want to create, and many characters waiting inside my mind.
So for now, goodbye, and I hope we meet again in the next novel.
Thank you for everything, hahaha.
