Chapter 70: Special Bait Box

[Would the host like to buy the 24-hour special bait box?]

When Han Ruochen heard the notification, her eyes flickered with some knowing glint but didn’t tap on the flashing notification because —Shopping.

Han Ruochen could feel her wallet getting thinner, but she didn’t regret purchasing the tools or the traps. After all, her grandfather often used to tell her that a set of good tools was what made a fisherman successful. As she was paying for her purchase, her eyes fell on a set of new tools.

She frowned and pointed at the tool that was on the display in the front. "What is that, boss?"

When the boss saw someone asking about the new tool, his eyes lit up, and he immediately became excited.

The villagers had a poor ability to accept new things, and this tool was the latest development; because of this, not many villagers chose to buy it. Thus, it had been left unsold for quite some time.

When the boss saw that someone was finally taking an interest in it, he was really happy.

"This is a shrimp extractor. It is very easy to use. Just point the head at the air hole and apply force at the end to pull out the shrimp. And even though it is named after shrimp, you can collect mantis shrimp and sea cucumbers with it as well." Han Ruochen looked at the metal structure that had a round barrel and pursed her lips as she walked over to it and took a careful look at it. She picked it up and tested it out. Once she was finished testing, Han Ruochen liked it very much.

It really made collecting shrimp easier. At least it was better than digging into the soil every day.

"This won’t crush or kill the shrimp, will it?" Han Ruochen had seen her grandfather use a similar tool in her childhood. The only difference was that he was using one that had a noose in it. When her grandfather used it, that thing would either suffocate the shrimps to death or the grip would be so light that they would escape.

"Don’t worry, little lady, how could this thing be similar to a noose? You can always use it to collect shrimps, and when you pull them out, they will be alive and kicking. If even a single shrimp dies, then you can bring this thing back to me, and we will act as if we never had this deal. What do you say?"

The boss smiled and flashed a flattering look at Han Ruochen, who pursed her lips.

She looked at the tool and thought that there was nothing wrong with what the boss said and nodded. "Then can you show me the instruction manual for this thing?"

When the shopkeeper heard her ask for the manual, his eyes widened, as he never expected a country bumpkin to know about it, but he soon masked his surprise in a matter of seconds, and then he smiled at Han Ruochen professionally before saying to her, "Sure, wait a few seconds for me. I will find the manual for you."

The boss then went to the back of the shop and found the manual for Han Ruochen to read.

Han Ruochen took it from the old boss and read the information on it. And after she finished reading, she realised that using this thing was really simple. She turned to look at the old boss and asked, "How much is this shrimp extractor?"

"It is seventy yuan each, Miss."

"I have brought so many things from you. Can you at least give me a discount?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"This is the discounted price, Miss." The boss shook his head and said, "The price of this extractor is more than ninety yuan. I am already giving you the lowest price, Miss."

He originally wanted to sell these extractors for more than two hundred and fifty yuan, but he had been waiting for a buyer for more than two months. If he missed this opportunity, who knows when he would get another chance to sell these things? He didn’t want to waste his time by letting this opportunity slip through his hands.

When Han Ruochen heard the price, she was stunned. She looked down at the extractor and finally gritted her teeth before buying a pair. In just a single trip, she had spent more than one thousand five hundred yuan! Walking out of the shop, Han Ruochen sighed heavily; it seemed like the path of getting rich was way too difficult and expensive!

"Ruochen!"

Han Ruochen turned and looked behind; she was surprised to find Yun Xiaoxiao walking over. The woman was dressed in a fashionable plaited skirt and jacket with a black shirt and a matching blue hat on top of her head. She was waving her hand at Han Ruochen with a smile on her face.

"Teacher Yun?"

"There is no need for you to call me Teacher Yun anymore. Anyway, we are outside school; there is no need to show courtesy," said Yun Xiaoxiao with a smile on her lips. She said to Han Ruochen, "It’s a good thing that you came to the city. I was thinking of going to your house, but then I changed my mind."

Even though Yun Xiaoxiao was tactful, Han Ruochen knew that she was hesitating because of her mother. After all, Meng Yunhan had once gone to the school and asked the principal for Han Ruochen’s salary just because she didn’t believe that it was delayed and thought that Han Ruochen was lying.

Han Ruochen didn’t bring up the matter of her mother and simply smiled at Yun Xiaoxiao without any sign of anger. She said to the little woman, "Then why are you looking for me?"

"What else? Didn’t you say that I can pay you for the job later on? My family has arranged the money."

Yun Xiaoxiao was a bit embarrassed; even though the principal told her that she should give Han Ruochen the money right away, she still took her time, as she was worried that the woman would go back on her words. But who would have expected that Han Ruochen wouldn’t even harp on her for the money that she owed her?
