Chapter 217: Going to the Zhai Mansion

Master Bo could sense that Han Ruochen did not want to go to the Zhai mansion and felt a bit confused. What was wrong with this girl? Everyone in the quad wanted to suck up to the Zhai family, but this girl looked like she wanted to stay away from the Zhai family at all costs. No, no, there was no way. How could she not be willing to get closer to the Zhao family?

"Ruochen, is there a problem?" Master Bo asked with a little furrow between his brows.

Han Ruochen snapped out of her daze and shook her head. "There is no problem at all." It was just that there was a bit of awkwardness between her and Zhai Muchen. She wondered if she should try another channel, but when she thought about how, if she tried to make use of another new channel, there was a chance that they would try to cheat her. She couldn’t take the risk.

Sighing, she realised that it was better to go and meet with Zhai Muchen. He was a much safer option than trying to sell these pearls on her own. For the first time, Han Ruochen felt helpless and frustrated with her own lack of connections and knowledge. It was a good thing that she was able to awaken the sea-scanning system, or else she would have never been able to survive in this world even if she were reborn! Because she had no knowledge or information about the outside world.

With this limited knowledge, she could only do her best. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"Then you should go and ask Master Muchen for help. He will definitely introduce you to a better auction hall that will certainly give you a better margin." Most of the auction halls would take a large margin off the products, and the one who sold the items would only receive a small fraction of the true earnings. But with Zhai Muchen’s recommendation, there was a good chance that these pearls would be sold for a very good price.

Han Ruochen also understood this one thing. She didn’t want to lose a good share of her money, so it was better to ask Zhai Muchen.

"I understand, Uncle Bo." Han Ruochen knew that Master Bo was only looking out for her. She agreed with his suggestion at once.

Master Bo patted Han Ruochen on her shoulders and said to her, "Ruochen, just keep working hard. I have a feeling that you will reach greater heights as long as you work hard." He had never seen a fisherman alone catching so much rare seafood alone. Though the Emerald Pavilion had seen a lot of rare seafood, the suppliers were mostly different. There had never been instances where only a single fisherman brought such varieties, and that too, a woman.

He just knew that there was something special about Han Ruochen. He just could not prove it.

Han Ruochen nodded as she agreed. She had no intention of stopping just yet. She was aiming for something even higher. Something that would help her and her family get better.

Her uncle was waiting for her outside the pavilion. When he saw her coming, he felt relieved. He was worried that even the Emerald Pavilion would refuse to accept the seafood because the amount was way too big. He hurried over and asked, "Did everything go okay?"

"Everything was sold." That was all Han Ruochen told her uncle. She then requested, "Uncle, if you don’t mind, can you take me to the Zhai mansion? There is something that I want to deal with before going home?" She could not take the twin pearls back. Her uncle was such a scaredy cat; if she left the twin pearls at his home, he would never dare to go out of the house and would stay cooped up in his house until the twin pearls were sold.

And as for taking the twin pearls home—Han Ruochen curled her lips. If she were to take these twin pearls home, then she was worried that it would not be different from taking the twin pearls in the den of thieves.

It was better to sell these off before someone unworthy got their hands on these pearls.

Second Uncle Han was a bit surprised when he heard that Han Ruochen wanted to go to the Zhai mansion, but he still nodded as he knew that his niece was an unreasonable woman. She would not go to the Zhai mansion because she wanted to meet Zhai Muchen, like other women of the quad who wanted to chase the man. His niece was not like those women, so she certainly wouldn’t do anything that would embarrass her or their family.

"Alright, I will take you there, and then I will go to pick up Zhaodi."

Tong Zhaodi went to the state-run restaurant to have a meal under Han Ruochen’s insistence. Both of them knew that nothing good was waiting for Tong Zhaodi at the Tong family. It would be better if she ate in advance; that way, she wouldn’t go hungry at night. Tong Zhaodi unexpectedly agreed, and Han Ruochen sighed in relief. It seemed like under her persistence, the woman had more or less learnt to be a little rebellious, which was a good sign.

It meant that Tong Zhaodi was not foolishly filial.

Han Ruochen had nothing against her uncle’s suggestion. She nodded and agreed.

Second Uncle Han took Han Ruochen to the Zhai mansion, where she was about to introduce herself, but —

"Ah, Miss Han. You are here? Come right inside; I will take you to Master Muchen." Before she could even open her mouth to tell the guard who she was, the man politely smiled at her and then took her inside the mansion. Han Ruochen was dumbfounded as she did not expect such a thing to happen. She thought that it would take a lot of time to enter the Zhai mansion, but she was allowed to enter the mansion without any identification, and how did the guard know about her?
