Chapter 210: Going to the Sea

Meng Yunhan felt really furious when she thought about how Mother Yang had been coming to her every now and then and telling her that she should start thinking about Han Ziyan and Yang Jianming’s marriage. As if she would let that man marry her daughter!

Did Mother Yang think that there was no one in their family to protect Han Ziyan anymore? Her mother was still alive, even if no one was willing to take care of her; she was still there for Han Ziyan. In the past, she agreed with Han Ziyan when she told her that she wanted to be with Yang Jianming because she knew that the man was well settled and had a good reputation.

But now, Yang Jianming had nothing! He neither had a good job nor did he have a good reputation. Why would she marry off her daughter to a loser like that? And yet Madam Yang emphasised many times that Han Ziyan’s reputation had been ruined, and she should consider marrying Yang Jianming, and it would do some good if she were to let the two children get married.

But how could Meng Yunhan allow such a thing to happen? She knew her daughter way too well. She knew that there was no way she would ever marry someone like Yang Jianming now that he had lost everything. It would be good if she could get the backing of the Zhai family; then she would be able to live a good life without a worry.

"Mom, just take your time to consider. This is just my two cents’ worth. You are more experienced than I am; you would be able to make your decision. Whatever you decide, I will follow your wishes without a doubt."

"Ziyan, you are such a sensible child. If only your sister were half as sensible as you."

They were truly a loving mother and daughter pair in the room. On the other hand, the atmosphere in Han Ruochen’s room was way too sombre. Han Ruochen did not want to have dinner, but she also did not want to leave any leftovers for her mother and Han Ziyan. So even though she was not willing to go down and eat, she still went to the dining room after Han Beijiang went to sleep.

As she went to the dining room, her father placed the bowl of heated pork elbows on the table. He raised his head and looked at his daughter, whose expression was sullen. "Ruochen, don’t let such things get to you..."

"Dad, it’s not that I am being pessimistic. But I am not a child who does not understand such a simple thing. My mum is biased, and she is more inclined toward Han Ziyan than my siblings or me. I dare not think about what she would have done to me if I were not on my guard!" When she thought of the horrifying memories of her last dying moments in her past life, Han Ruochen could no longer hold back. She knew that her father wanted to tell her to be optimistic and not let her mother’s actions govern her life, but how could she?

When she was being schemed against left and right?

There was a limit to how much a person could stay positive.

Han Ruochen sighed and then sat down to eat her meal.

Han Yichen wanted to say something, but in the end, he simply sighed and did not say a word. What could she even say at this point? Han Ruochen was right. She could stay positive, but there was a limit to how much she could stay positive. When her own mother was bent on dragging her down? Han Yichen couldn’t help but blame Meng Yunhan. What was that woman even doing? She was bent on doting on a woman who was not related to her in any way and was determined to dote on her, while her own children were getting more and more disappointed with her.

He did not know what to do. He knew that from the path that Meng Yunhan had taken, their family was going to be ruined in one way or another.

The next day, Han Ruochen went to the docks with her fishing rod and some other tools that she had arranged with Tong Zhaodi. She bought a few shrimps and small fish at the docks, and Han Ruochen helped Tong Zhaodi up on the boat. Maybe it was because it had been a very long time since someone in the village bought a motorboat, but there was quite a huge crowd gathered at the docks when they saw Han Ruochen getting on the boat.

Seeing the crowd cheering for her, Han Ruochen was half ashamed and half speechless. It was like they were sending away a celebrity! She gave the villagers an embarrassed smile and then turned on the ignition of the boat before leaving the docks. As soon as the motorboat hummed to life, tiny ripples appeared on the surface of the water, and Han Ruochen sucked in a breath before turning the boat in the direction of the sea.

This was her first time driving this motorboat, but she had learned enough in her previous life from her grandmother; thus, she had quite an easy time dealing with most of the instructions that came with the motorboat.

She drove the boat while concentrating on the sea-scanning system that was hovering in front of her eyes. Soon, something appeared in front of her on the screen. Han Ruochen immediately cut off the engine and stopped the boat before mooring it to one side. She then turned to look at Tong Zhaodi and said to her, "Pick up the scooping net and scoop the fish underneath. It should not be more than one metre."

Tong Zhaodi nodded and immediately fetched the scooping net that she used to scoop out the seafood from the spot that Han Ruochen had pointed out earlier. And what came out of the water level—
