Chapter 202: Shen Zijin (II)

"Zhai Muchen... are you from the Zhai family?" Aunt Zhang was stunned when she heard that someone from the Zhai family had come to attend the banquet. After all, she knew very well that the status of the Zhai family was different from theirs. If the Zhai family were stars in the sky, then they were puny rocks on the seabed. To think that someone from the Zhai Family actually came to attend a banquet that they were attending, it was really honourable to just think about it.

Aunt Zhang was not the only one; the rest of the people were just as stunned. They all looked at one another before rushing forward to greet Zhai Muchen. This was the Zhai family! If they lost their chance of getting close to him today, then they might never be able to get close to him ever again. They might as well try to get close to him when they still had the chance.

Soon, Han Ruochen was squeezed out by the crowd, and Zhai Muchen was surrounded by the villagers as all of them tried to introduce themselves to him. Seeing how eager they all looked, Han Ruochen was speechless. She knew that these people were looking for some connection with the Zhai family, but was there a need to be so eager and enthusiastic? It was as if they were meeting with the president.

Han Ruochen was squeezed out, but the noise alone attracted the attention of Han Yichen, who hurried home as well because he was worried that Han Ruochen would be bullied by Meng Yunhan. Even though he sent the woman back to her workplace, he did not believe that she would stay still and not cause trouble for his daughter. Thus, he hurriedly finished his work and returned home, and when he saw the large crowd in front of the house, he could not help but turn worried.

What happened? Did someone bully Han Ruochen again? The more he thought about it, the faster he increased his pace. If not for the fact that he could not fly over, he really wanted to do that as well. Who would have thought that just when he thought that things would become better, something might end up happening? However, as soon as he rushed inside the house, he saw Han Ruochen standing to the side with a helpless expression on her face while Zhai Muchen was surrounded by the villagers as if he were a piece of meat being gobbled by a pack of hungry wolves. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

He was at first stunned and then turned helpless.

"Ruochen, what is going on?" Han Yichen could only turn to his daughter and ask about the current situation, as he had no idea what was going on. What exactly was going on?

Han Ruochen also did not know what was going on. She simply reiterated what happened to her father, and by the time she finished, Han Yichen was filled with exasperation. He could not blame Han Ruochen, nor could he blame Zhai Muchen. If Zhai Muchen had not clarified his identity, then these villagers would have ruined Han Ruochen’s reputation. He was quite thankful to Zhai Muchen for clarifying that he was there just because Han Ruochen had saved his brother. If not, the one in trouble would be his daughter.

However, because the man clarified his identity, he ended up getting in trouble. This was something that Han Yichen could not watch silently, as the man had done it for the sake of his daughter. He stepped forward and cleared his throat before saying, "Alright, all of you, calm down. Master Zhai is not going anywhere; you all can talk with him later on. But for now, let’s focus on the banquet."

Han Yichen was the owner of the house; even though these villagers wanted to ignore him, they could not.

The villagers returned to their tables, and soon the banquet started. Han Yichen heaved a sigh of relief; he then walked over to where Zhai Muchen was standing and smiled at the man. "Thank you for helping Ruochen, Master Zhai."

"There is no need to thank me," Zhai Muchen shook his head and stated with a polite smile. "I was the one at fault and shouldn’t have come to your house without telling you, Uncle Han." He paused and added, "And there is no need to call me ’young master Zhai’. You can call me Muchen, like my grandfather."

Han Yichen was quite pleased when he heard Zhai Muchen’s response, but he did not dare to climb up the social ladder, as he was worried that people would talk behind his back. He waved his hand and said to Zhai Muchen, "How can I do such a thing? No matter what, we—"

"Uncle Han, please. I might be from the Zhai family, but my grandfather had taught my siblings and me from the start that even if our social status might be different from others, we should never even think about suppressing anyone. So there is no need to call me young master; that would be supporting the capitalistic ideology."

Hearing his remarks, even if Han Yichen wanted to refuse, he couldn’t do it. He pursed his lips and nodded with a smile. "Then, Muchen, come with me. I will arrange a table for you. We prepared all the specialities of our village; you are not allowed to leave without tasting them."

Han Ruochen: "..."

She was speechless. She wanted to say that she was not the one at fault. Anyway, the one who insisted on attending the banquet was Zhai Muchen, and it had nothing to do with her. She was clearly innocent.

While she was lost in her thoughts, someone was eyeing her closely.

"Zijin, how many times have I told you? You should focus on eating more meat!"

Shen Zijin snapped out of her thoughts and turned to look at her mother, who was gobbling meat as if she had never eaten a single morsel of food. Her face scrunched up in disgust and she said to her mother, "Mom, can you think of something else other than food?"
