Chapter 197: Shen Nian
"Han Yichen!" Meng Yunhan burst right into Han Yichen’s office, her face set in fury as she stepped into the small cabin-like room where Han Yichen dealt with all of his clients and work. As soon as she stepped inside, she startled the little woman, who was sitting in front of Han Yichen. Meng Yunhan saw a woman sitting in the office, and the woman was alone with Han Yichen!
Seeing this, she turned furious. Her eyes almost flew out of her sockets as she said to Han Yichen, "Is that why you have turned more and more cold toward me? Are you having an affair?" Meng Yunhan thought that it was only just and fair that she had an affair with Yun Xinye, as Han Yichen ’stole’ her from him, but she could never accept the fact that Han Yichen too was cheating on her. What gave him the right to even cheat on her? Who did he think he was?
Han Yichen raised his head, and when he saw Meng Yunhan standing on the threshold of his office with sheer rage etched on her face, he did not know what to say. He simply turned to look at the woman who was sitting in front of him and said to her, "Miss Shen, you can leave for now. We will discuss this matter later on."
Miss Shen nodded before taking her leave. However, how could Meng Yunhan let her leave? This woman was the key to finding out what was going on with Han Yichen and why he had suddenly turned so cold-hearted toward her out of nowhere. Strictly speaking, he should be under her thumb like before, but now he was suddenly acting icy cold toward her. What else was there for her to misunderstand after seeing this woman in his office?
"You...where do you think you are sending her? Han Yichen, you are good. I married you and even gave birth to five children for you, and this is how you are treating me. You even dared to have an affair behind my back," scolded Meng Yunhan angrily. Her eyes turned red with tears as if she had suffered a great grievance. If not for the fact that she was too afraid of being beaten by the woman, who looked not only young but also sturdy, she would have rushed to fight with her.
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Han Yichen was furious when she heard the words of his wife; he knew that she had always been a loudmouth and loved to jump to conclusions, but this time around, she was way out of line. His face flushed red with shame as he spoke, "This is Miss Shen. She came from the county for a business deal with me. Why are you making a mess here by accusing her of having an affair with an old man like me? Are you not afraid of making me a joke in front of the villagers??"
Han Yichen then turned to look at Miss Shen and apologetically said to her, "I am sorry about this. She is my wife, and she has always been a bit of a clusterfuck. She does things without thinking things through; however, she is not bad at heart, and she probably did not even mean anything harsh."
Though Miss Shen was shocked by the sudden appearance of Mrs Han, she still nodded and accepted the apology of Han Yichen. She said to him in a soft voice, "There is no need to apologise for things like these; they usually happen when I go to handle a deal instead of my father. There is no need to overthink, Mr Han." Miss Shen was used to such things, as she was a young woman and not many wives of the farm owners were used to seeing a woman as young as her handling things. Thus, they were quick to judge her as a homewrecker. After being treated as one many times, Miss Shen was now used to dealing with such incidents.
Hearing this, Han Yichen turned even more apologetic. This young woman came to see him all the way from the city and even arranged for the pork from his farm to be delivered to the city centre, and yet she was now being held accountable by his wife. It only made him feel even worse. His eyes flashed with a glint of guilt and apologetically added, "I am still very sorry about this. My wife shouldn’t have done it."
After he finished speaking, he turned to look at his wife and said to her sternly, "Apologise to Miss Shen right away. What are you standing there for like an idiot?"
Meng Yunhan parted her lips. She wanted to say that she was not in the wrong, but under the ferocious gaze of her husband, she could only lower her gaze and say reluctantly, "I apologise for misunderstanding the situation, Miss Shen." Though she apologised because she was worried that Han Yichen would blame her for making things difficult for her, a part of her wanted to get close to Miss Shen. She thought about the small farm that Yun Xinye had opened. Unlike Han Yichen, who had countless connections, Yun Xinye, unfortunately, did not have those connections. If only she could help him get some connections.
Her eyes started to flicker with greed as she turned to look at Miss Shen, and this time around, her gaze was much warmer, which only made Miss Shen frown even harder. She knew very well that such sudden solicitude was not something that could be accepted without a word. She pursed her lips and ignored Meng Yunhan before turning her attention to Han Yichen. "I will be taking my leave, Mister Han. Please discuss the rest of the matters with my father on a call. I think he will accept your terms, as they are more than reasonable."
Han Yichen nodded without saying. He also noticed that Miss Shen was ignoring Meng Yunhan but what could he say? His wife was indeed the one at fault!
