Chapter 178: Han Ziyan goes to find trouble
Widow Wang was not afraid of offending Han Ruochen after all; the little girl was not someone she needed to watch out for. Her mother did not support her, and her father wouldn’t fight with her, a widow. She simply swayed her hips and stated in an off-handed voice, "This is truly blasphemous if you ask me. A woman getting on a boat, I mean...this was something our ancestors feared the most. I am telling you, once this girl takes this boat to the sea, no one is going to have an easy time."
"I am telling you all, we still have time to ask someone from the village to drive this motorboat to the sea instead of Han Ruochen and share the hunt with her. That way, we will not make the god of the sea angry with our village." Widow Wang was already calculating in her mind. In the village, other than her brother, there were very few young men who could take this beauty to the sea. If she tried hard enough, then she could get Han Ruochen to give this boat to her brother.
That way, they would be able to get more than half of the fish and sell them to make a bountiful fortune while giving almost none to Han Ruochen. Wouldn’t it be amazing?
"Aunt Wang, you don’t have to worry." Han Ruochen was almost amused by the tone of the woman. Since when did this woman start worrying about the people of the village? She could almost see what was going on inside the mind of this woman. Most probably, she was hoping that the boat would become a village commodity and she would be able to make the most of it. However, there was nothing wrong with thinking about it, but she also needed to see if Han Ruochen was going to agree to it or not.
She smiled and continued, "Even if the god of the sea gets angry, he will get angry with me. After all, I am the one who took the motorboat to the sea, and no one had anything to do with it. So why would the god of the sea be angry with the villagers? At most, I will lose my luck in catching seafood and nothing else." Han Ruochen did not want Widow Wang to sway the people of the village, or else things would become even more troublesome for her.
Widow Wang’s face changed, and she couldn’t help but say, "I am just asking everyone to be careful. There has never been an instance where a woman has bought a boat and even taken it to the sea. I still think it is better for you to let the men from the village take over the boat and fish for you."
"I believe you are missing something here." Han Ruochen did not want to entangle with Widow Wang but if she was determined to stretch her hands to her boat, then Han Ruochen had no other choice but to take a stand. And a firm one at that, such that no one would ever hope to do the same. She smiled and said, "I purchased this boat; if you want to use it, then you have to pay rent. Fifty yuan per day, do you agree?"
"Fifty yuan? Why don’t you just go ahead and rob?" Widow Wang gasped when she heard Han Ruochen’s words. She looked at the boat that was parked at the docks and unwillingly looked at Han Ruochen. She wanted to get her hands on the boat but there was no way she would be willing to pay fifty yuan as rent everyday at that.
Han Ruochen sneered and then said, "Aunt Wang, even a small wooden boat is borrowed at twenty yuan, not to mention this motorboat. The rent I have mentioned is quite low; if it were someone else, they would have rented this boat to you for seventy or eighty yuan. It’s just because we all are from the same village that I am quoting such a low price."
Widow Wang was speechless. She parted her lips to scold Han Ruochen but before she could, a familiar voice echoed behind her.
"Sister, how can you say such a thing? Aunt Wang is only looking out for the village and the villagers. She is right; after all, there had never been an instance of a woman driving a motorboat." Han Ziyan walked over. The crowd parted and looked at the two sisters, their eyes gleaming with excitement as they waited for the two of them to start fighting.
Villagers did not have much excitement to look at; thus, how could they miss this?
Han Ziyan looked at Han Ruochen and then turned her attention to the young man standing next to her. One look at Zhai Heng and she was almost blown away by how good he looked. Han Ziyan thought that Yang Jianming was a rather good-looking man but now that she had seen Zhai Heng, she realised that her thinking was too narrow.
Compared to this young man, Yang Jianming was nothing!
She had never seen a man this good. With his fiery eyes and tall and handsome stature, the man won her heart in just one look! Han Ziyan could not help but blush when she saw Zhai Heng. her cheeks turned a brilliant shade of red and she looked like a young girl in love.
"Who are you?" Zhai Heng asked with a frown on his face. Who was this woman who came out of nowhere and was standing against Xiao Ruochen for no reason?
Han Ziyan was quite glad when she saw that Zhai Heng was talking with her. She smiled brilliantly and replied, "I am Han Ziyan; I am her sister."
Zhai Heng turned to look at Han Ruochen and a look of understanding dawned on his face. He nodded and turned to look at Han Ziyan before saying, "Oh, you are that adopted daughter who is suffering from princess syndrome?"
