Chapter 141: Twisted Brainwashing
She remembered that the matter was very serious and it affected a lot of people as well as the nation. Han Ruochen was unaware of the exact extent of how dangerous the situation was because she was locked away by the Yang family; however, she did hear that Zhai Muchen dealt with this matter quite swiftly and even saved many innocent lives.
Back then, she heard Han Ziyan whisper about how she wished she could have become the wife of a hero rather than someone like Yang Jianming. When Han Ruochen heard her wishes, she was quite glad that Han Ziyan never had a chance to get close to someone of a great character like Zhai Muchen. While Han Ruochen was wary of men, she still believed that Zhai Muchen was a much better man when compared to other men. Thus, she was much nicer to him.
At least in her mind, she was.
And it was not her fault. Since her past life, she had never tried to pursue idols, but she did have a weak spot for the army officials. What was more, even if she was wary of Zhai Muchen, he was the kind of man every woman would want as her husband. He was the leader of the army, and the identities that he had were something that Han Ruochen deep down liked very much. Hence, Han Ruochen could not help but be nervous whenever she was in his presence.
When Zhai Muchen saw the determination in her eyes despite the fear mixed with admiration and passion, he couldn’t help but smile again.
But at the same time, he could not help but wonder if he had done something that was worth such admiration. In particular, the gaze with which she was looking at him was way too passionate and Zhai Muchen was not used to such a gaze. Especially from her.
"Here," said Zhai Muchen as he pushed an envelope filled with bills. "I have to thank you for arranging the moray eel. Ah Heng told me that this is a golden moray. It will definitely surpass the female crab."
Han Ruochen took the envelope from Zhai Muchen and sighed in relief while suppressing her excitement. Finally, she could get her own motorboat. She bowed in front of Zhai Muchen and said to him, "I should be thanking you, Master Muchen. If not for your help, I might not have been able to collect the money for my motorboat so quickly."
This was something that Han Ruochen knew very well.
If not for Zhai Muchen’s help, she knew that there was no way she would have been able to sell the seafood at such a high price. It was all thanks to him that she finally had the money to buy the motorboat.
Zhai Muchen smiled at her and said, "You should leave now. Your brother is waiting for you..." He paused and added, "I would have liked to invite you to the banquet but I am afraid you will be bored to death."
Han Ruochen did not say anything. She simply nodded and then escaped from the study room faster than a rabbit. When Zhai Muchen saw her leave, he could not help but shake his head with a helpless smile on his face, but at the same time, he took a look at his face in the mirror; he wondered whether there was something wrong with his attitude that Han Ruochen was so scared of him.
He was clearly quite nice to her!
Han Ruochen did not think that there was anything wrong with what she did, and if she had heard what was going on in Zhai Muchen’s mind, she would have certainly told him that it was not that he was scary, but his aura was just too formidable!
She sighed in relief when she arrived in front of her brother and said to him, "Let’s go, Brother Yong. We will go and check what kind of motorboat we can buy."
"You finally received enough money?" Han Yong asked with a smile, and Han Ruochen nodded in response.
The two siblings exited the quad with pockets heavy with the weight of the motorboat money. And because they were in a hurry, they did not see the figure that was hiding behind the electric pole.
Han Ziyan stepped out from behind the pole.
She had followed the two of them to the quad because she saw the black car driving inside the quad. But she could not follow the two of them inside the quad. However, Han Ziyan was not willing to let go. She had already imagined what she was going to do with the twenty-five thousand yuan. How could she let go of it so easily?
Thus, she stood outside the quad waiting for Han Ruochen and Han Yong to come out. She still could not understand how someone as useless as Han Ruochen was able to get close to someone from the quad. She also noticed how that handsome man looked at Han Ruochen. His gaze softened every time he was talking with Han Ruochen. Just one look and anyone could see that the man was way out of Han Ruochen’s league.
"Look at her," Han Ziyan hissed to herself; her fingers were digging deep into her palm as she glared at Han Ruochen, who was walking away. "She really doesn’t know any better. She even dared to climb into the car of some rich brat. All because she snatched my luck."
That was right!
Han Ziyan did not believe that these things belonged to Han Ruochen. Instead, she believed that Han Ruochen might have done something to share her luck; without it, how could Han Ruochen be even half as lucky as her? She just had this feeling that Han Ruochen had something that belonged to her.
Han Ziyan did not want the money anymore. She wanted to snatch Han Ruochen’s life. She could not help but imagine herself in Han Ruochen’s place. The woman who was being worshipped as the goddess of the shore, as well as being close to the handsome man who was treating Han Ruochen so well. ’I need to get my luck back,’ thought Han Ziyan furiously. If I snatch my luck back, then I will once again live the same prosperous life as before, and maybe I can even prove that Han Ruochen is a witch!
