Chapter 93: Chapter 93: In-laws

Lan Qingman’s expression stiffened as she was about to get into the car.

’Can’t we just squeeze in?’

"Excuse me—" Fu Mingxue pushed her aside.

Lan Qingman: ...?

She could only watch as they all got into the car, leaving her behind.

Her face turned ashen with fury.

’That Fu Mingxue hasn’t even married into the family yet and she already dares to cross me. Once she’s actually married in a few days, won’t she start giving me attitude?’

But Fu Mingxue couldn’t have cared less how Lan Qingman was feeling at that moment.

The car soon arrived at a traditional alley.

"Aunt, we’ve arrived," Qin Wenshu said, parking the car.

"She lives here?" Mrs. Qin asked in surprise. "This is a nice courtyard house."

This wasn’t quite what she had imagined.

She hadn’t expected her future daughter-in-law to have bought such a nice house.

"Yes, it really is nice. Mom, let’s get out of the car."

Qin Wenhao had already jumped out to open her door.

Fu Mingxue got out of the car holding a child and called out, "Mom, I’m home—"

Hearing her call, Mrs. Fu, who had been sweeping the courtyard, immediately came to open the gate.

The moment she saw her daughter holding a frail-looking child, she knew it was her grandson.

"Mom, this is my mother-in-law." Fu Mingxue, seeing Mrs. Qin had also gotten out of the car, quickly made the introduction. "Mom, this is my mom."

’Two "Moms"—that sounds a little awkward.’

"In-law—" Mrs. Fu said, somewhat surprised.

’I didn’t expect Wenhao’s mother to come over. And she looks so young!’

’Compared to her, I look like I’m from an older generation.’

"In-law, I should have come to see you yesterday afternoon, but the two children were sick."

Mrs. Fu said at once, "The children’s health comes first. In-law, please, come inside."

The group went inside.

The two children looked around curiously, not seeming too frightened by the unfamiliar surroundings.

"In-law, please have a seat," Mrs. Fu said before heading to the kitchen.

Mrs. Qin told her not to go to any trouble.

Fu Mingxue said to Qin Wenhao, "Wenhao, can you hold the baby? I’m going to buy some groceries so Mom can stay for lunch."

"That won’t be necessary, I have to get back soon. There’s an elder at home, so I really can’t stay. But you should have Wenhao go buy some groceries for you all to eat."

Qin Wenhao nodded. "I’ll go buy groceries."

He took Qin Wenshu along with him.

"Mingxue, I didn’t realize you’d kept this house so clean. It’s a wonderful house; it must be very comfortable to live in."

It was even nicer than the marital home she had prepared for them.

The home she had prepared was not as large as this two-courtyard house.

"I think it’s a great house, too. Mom, what do you think? After the wedding, since it doesn’t matter where we live, Wenhao could just move in here. We can let the other house be for now."

Mrs. Qin was not an old-fashioned person; she thought it was perfectly acceptable.

"Fine, you two can decide that for yourselves. But the wedding itself has to be held at the Qin family home."

"Okay."

There was no reason for her to disagree.

And so, the mother- and daughter-in-law reached an agreement about the house.

Just then, Mrs. Fu came out carrying bowls of sweet egg soup.

"In-law, have some of this."

"Oh, my dear in-law, you’re too kind—"

Mrs. Fu took the child from Mrs. Qin’s arms. "You eat first. It won’t taste as good once it gets cold."

Mrs. Qin knew this was proper etiquette for hosting a guest.

So, she started to eat—

After finishing the food, she sat and chatted with Mrs. Fu for about half an hour.

Then she stood up to leave. "Well, In-law, I’ll be heading off now."

"Why not stay a little longer?"

"No, I can’t. There’s too much to do at home. Another day, you all must come over for a meal."

"Alright." Mrs. Fu didn’t refuse. A visit to the Qin family’s home was a matter of course.
