Chapter 103: Peter vs Cedric 2

Cedric had Peter right where he wanted him, his shotgun pointed directly at his jaw, the crowd watched in anticipation for what was going to happen next.

BOOM!

The sound of the shot tore through the air like a guttural scream. The blast struck Peter square beneath the jaw. The wolfman was thrown back a few meters, rolling across the arena floors before digging his claws into the ground to halt his momentum.

Cedric lowered his shotgun with a grin plastered across his face. "Bad dog."

Peter remained on all fours, dark crimson blood cascaded down the side of his face, dripping onto the floor.

His breath became heavier as his eyes locked onto the grinning man, then—he started laughing.

A low guttural chuckle escaped his mouth as he started to move sideways slowly.

Cedric’s smile slowly faded from his face. The crowd was surprised by this development, they had expected Cedric’s shot to take him out in one fell swoop.

The wounds across Peter’s chest twitched unnaturally. Before everyone’s eyes, the torn holes in the wolf man’s chest and face slowly began knitting themselves together, pushing the bullets out as the people watched them drop harmlessly onto the arena floor.

’Regeneration? Impressive.’ Jacob mused as he leaned forward slightly.

It wasn’t nearly as potent as his own, but he was impressed nonetheless.

Peter slowly got up, his eyes glowed an even darker shade of yellow, his pupils narrowed, and dark veins shot across his neck and shoulders.

His claws had grown even longer and his muscles bulged out even more. These were all subtle changes that most people may not have noticed.

But Jacob was aware of every single change, even the slightest of them.

"Why the fuck won’t you just die!" Cedric frowned, yelling at Peter, who ignored him as he inched closer with every step.

The annoyed Hunter raised his shotgun again, pointing it at the wolf man and pulling the trigger once more.

"I was hoping not to use this." Peter said, looking at his hands, and cracking his neck. "My father always said, a Fenrir’s descendant carries two wolves."

"The first is reason. The second—" Peter narrowed his gaze at the center of the shotgun barrel and smiled, exposing his significantly large canines.

ZOOM!

There was a large outward explosion that sent even the pebbles that rested on the ground skidding across the surface of the arena floor.

Cedric narrowed his eyes in an attempt to follow an even faster version of the wolf man.

"So you’ve got more tricks up your sleeve huh?" Cedric muttered to himself, then the shotgun began glowing, again.

This time around it evolved into an even bigger gun in the man’s grasp, its barrel elongated, its stock thickened.

It had evolved into a massive anti-material rifle nearly as tall as Cedric himself.

He rested the weapon on his shoulder and closed one eye, aiming at the wolf man who was moving frantically in the air, quickly closing up the distance between them.

"Let’s see if your skull is as thick as your hide dog."

Peter vanished instantly.

"So fast." Cedric gasped, looking around frantically for the wolf man. "No matter."

He fired the rifle without hesitation, the enormous bullet screamed through the air as it sought its target, Peter.

Just before it connected, Peter twisted his body at the last possible moment, the projectile tore through his shoulder instead of his chest.

But he never slowed down, he kept moving.

Cedric fired again, another explosion echoed across the arena.

Peter gritted his teeth and kicked off a broken slab of stone.

The bullet missed him by a couple of inches before curving sharply to meet him again, the crowd was echoing a flurry of ooh’s and ahh’s by this point, each fight seemed better than the last.

"You forgot they come back huh?" Cedric grinned triumphantly, tapping his rifle on the floor.

"I didn’t forget." Peter growled as he punched the ground, the impact shattered the arena floor and broken chunks of stone shot upwards into the sky.

The bullets slammed into pieces of flying debris, slowing them down ultimately as they swerved towards Peter.

Peter danced, zigzagging between the flying rocks as he had his eyes locked on Cedric.

Cedric cursed under his breath as he watched the wolf man dart towards him with motivation in his eyes.

"Persistent mutt." He said, kissing his teeth. The rifle glowed once again, this time transforming into two sleek, golden submachine guns.

Cedric spun them around effortlessly before releasing a relentless barrage of bullets.

Golden bullets flew across the battle field like rain, every single one curved towards Peter.

The wolf man darted through the bullet storm with frightening agility, the crowd(those who could follow the attacks), were left dumbfounded by Peter’s agility and how swiftly he was dodging the bullets.

Some bullets did manage to graze his arm, or bury themselves into his thighs. Blood splattering across the entire arena, still he kept coming, unrelenting in his pursuit.

The distance between them rapidly closed... twenty meters... fifteen meters... ten meters.

Cedric clicked his tongue, shouting above the sound of the guns. "So you want close combat eh!"

The two guns instantly merged together and a long spear-like bayonet extended from the barrel.

The two parties collided with a loud metal clang, Peter’s sharp claws and Cedric’s bayonet.

For someone who enjoyed long range combat, he surprisingly stood his ground well. His weapon moved with incredible precision.

In that moment, Jacob realized that <Hunter’s Lock> wasn’t just a long range skill, it worked in the same way that <Eye of the monarch> did.

Every stab forced Peter backwards, every slashed left another wound on his body.

Cedric wasn’t replying on his affinity alone, bis fundamentals were also excellent, if given a regular sword, he would be able to hold his own against some pretty tough opponents.

Peter’s sharp claws collided with Cedric’s weapon repeatedly, sparks flew with every collision.

Cedric ducked under a violent swipe and immediately drove the spear into Peter’s abdomen. Several ribs fractured instantly.

Cedric took that opportunity to capitalize.

He planted the barrel directly against Peter’s chest.

"Bye bye." Cedric grinned as he fired the shot at the wolf man’s bare chest.

BOOM!

The explosion launched Peter across the arena, bis body bounced repeatedly before crashing against the outer wall.

For a moment, there was silence, tiny whispers could be heard in the crowd, contemplating if Peter was done for or not.

"I really hate getting my clothes dirty." Cedric complained as he dusted himself off.

There was no sound for seconds.

Then...

A low growl echoed from within the smoke. Cedric froze in his tracks, two glowing yellow eyes appeared.

One step after the other, Peter’s frame exited the smoke. His chest was drenched in blood and his jacket was blown to bits, one arm hung limply by his side.

And yet, he was still smiling.

"You..." Peter grinned wildly. "...finally made me feel pain."

Peter got on all fours, Cedric panicked now, he raised his weapon again and aimed at Peter.

In a flash, the wolf man became a blur. Cedric fired wildly, one shot became two, two became three, three became four.

All ten shots missed, Peter zigzagged across the battlefield faster than Cedric could see.

"Where are you?!" Cedric hissed. Before he could even raise his weapon, a shadow appeared above him.

He looked up, Peter descended with both claws raised.

The impact of the attack shattered Cedric’s weapon instantly. Golden fragments shattered across the arena as Cedric’s eyes widened in shock.

Peter didn’t stop there, he grabbed the man’s neck. His forehead slammed into Cedric’s face. Cedric’s nose exploded in blood, a savage punch followed, then another, and another.

The handsome hunter was beaten mercilessly, one punch after another.

"You called me..." Peter yelled as he slammed his fists against Cedric’s face. "...a dog!"

Peter’s breathing was ragged as he released all his energy onto the man’s flesh.

"I am the last descendant of Fenrir!" He slammed Cedric head first into the floor, shattering the ground on impact.

Cedric’s eyes rolled into the back of his head and his arms went limp.

Upon seeing this, the announcer intervened.

"C-Cedric Ravenshade is unable to continue, therefore, the winner... Peter Wolfe!!"

The crowd erupted in a screams and chants.

Jacob watched silently, he had already copied all of Cedric’s abilities, now he had just witnessed a bloodline capable of growing stronger through injury.

’Interesting... truly interesting.’ The white haired young man mused.

The tournament had just begun, and yet it had shown him powers beyond his expectations.

And somehow he had a feeling that he hadn’t even seen the best fighters yet.

The battle was over and the medical team immediately rushed into the arena to pick up Cedric’s limo body while Peter limped over to the tunnels, waving at the crowd.

His demeanor had changed entirely, just a few seconds ago he was seething with rage, and now he was happy as a frog.

’He really doesn’t like being called a dog.’ Jacob mused.
