Chapter 499: Chapter 499: Sowing Discord
Ashley Shaw looked up.
"What fiancé?"
Evelyn Vaughn was taken aback: "The one who came to pick you up the other day, isn’t he your fiancé?"
She was actually referring to Warren Prescott.
Ashley Shaw didn’t want Evelyn Vaughn spreading rumors, so she replied expressionlessly, "No," and then took out the hot water card, holding the instant noodle bowl as she walked out.
But she couldn’t hold back after all, when she reached the door, she turned her head and threw out, "Classmate Vaughn, if you have so much free time, why not spend more of it on studying? Meddling in others’ business won’t do you any good."
Having said that, she left with her noodle bowl without stopping.
Evelyn Vaughn clenched her teeth in hatred.
Was Ashley Shaw saying she was meddling in others’ business?
When did she ever meddle in others’ affairs? She was just thinking, having been classmates for years, it wouldn’t hurt to chat and clear the air, right?
She may be pretty, but why is her mouth so foul?
Evelyn Vaughn was filled with nameless fury with no outlet to vent, and when she returned to the dorm, her face was still dark.
She was the only one who stayed behind during the National Day holiday, so there was no need to pretend and smile for anyone.
She originally planned to try out the new foot bath package that supposedly slims legs, but now she was in no mood for it.
After pacing the dormitory for over a dozen laps, Evelyn Vaughn suddenly got an idea, took out her phone, and found Warren Prescott’s WeChat.
Warren Prescott wasn’t fond of posting on Moments; the last time he had posted was last month when he shared an industry news post.
So Evelyn Vaughn hadn’t found an excuse to chat with Warren Prescott until today when there was a fresh excuse.
She mustered her courage and sent Warren Prescott a message saying "Are you there?"
Warren Prescott hadn’t returned to the university but had gone to the new address of the Prescott Group in Aethelgard.
This place was no longer new to him; he went there to confirm if there were any further necessary changes in the park.
In his "past life," the park had already been set up when he took over the Prescott Group, so many things couldn’t be adjusted in time.
Now, with a chance to start anew, he laid out numerous demands.
Finally, he said, "Regarding the cafeteria, no relatives of anyone are allowed in. Hire professional chefs and food management personnel."
In the past, when Ashley Shaw first came to the company to find him, it was lunchtime, and he had a meeting to attend, so she went to the cafeteria to eat.
But the materials in the cafeteria were unsanitary, and she ended up with gastritis.
Yet, because many people working in the cafeteria were relatives, a thorough overhaul would have caused too much commotion, making it inconvenient for him to intervene.
So after that, he didn’t allow her to come to the company anymore.
"Mark, take care of this matter. Don’t let me down."
Assistant Mark swiftly responded, "Yes..."
Assistant Mark didn’t quite understand why Warren Prescott valued the cafeteria so much—his taste was quite picky, and it was unlikely he’d eat cafeteria food.
Could it be that after one bout of amnesia, his personality and picky palate had changed?
Nevertheless, he dared not show any emotion on his face.
Mr. Prescott Jr. had regained his memory, but his presence was even more intimidating than before.
Sometimes, when he didn’t get something right, one sharp look from Mr. Prescott Jr. made him feel like he was missing a piece of flesh.
Assistant Mark didn’t delay and was about to contact the relevant personnel for preparations at once.
But upon reaching the door, he suddenly remembered something and turned back.
Seeing that he had something to say, Warren Prescott dismissed the others, waited for them to leave, and then asked, "What is it?"
Assistant Mark stepped forward and said, "You previously asked me to look into Miss Lynch’s situation. I found out she’s currently with Curtis Bowen. Mrs. Bowen is using a lawyer previously hired by Owen Sinclair for her divorce proceedings, and it’s causing quite a stir in Westcroft."
A flash of surprise flickered in Warren Prescott’s eyes.
In his past life, his misunderstanding with Ashley Shaw wasn’t cleared up so quickly, so Rosalind Lynch’s moves weren’t so bold, and she was still revolving around him.
Now, however, she was with Curtis Bowen, and who knows what she’s planning.
"Keep an eye on her," Warren Prescott said.
Assistant Mark didn’t quite catch the meaning behind his words; he couldn’t tell if Warren Prescott felt disgusted that someone who once liked him was with a sleazy middle-aged man.
Bravely, he asked, "Do you want me to do anything to prevent them from getting divorced?"
"No need, just make sure someone keeps a close watch on her."
He knew all too well what kind of person Rosalind Lynch was.
She wouldn’t rest until she achieved her goals.
If not for her insistence on harming Ashley Shaw after learning about his feelings for her in their previous life—almost leading to someone abusing Ashley Shaw—he wouldn’t have taken such drastic measures, making her "disappear."
He was too lenient then; he should have made Rosalind Lynch truly disappear instead of sending her abroad.
As a result, Rosalind Lynch later escaped back and arranged for Ashley Shaw’s car accident.
So in this life, he had to keep a tight watch on her.
Assistant Mark now understood Warren Prescott’s intention.
He didn’t care whom Rosalind Lynch was with; he just feared that once with Curtis Bowen, she might plot revenge against Ashley Shaw.
Assistant Mark acknowledged with a "Yes" and carefully arranged for two groups, splitting the monitoring of Rosalind Lynch into day and night shifts, watching her around the clock.
After Assistant Mark left, the office fell silent again.
Having been reborn, Warren Prescott intended to make the most of it; knowing future market trends, he was certain not to fall behind in any market.
He wasn’t like Ashley Shaw, who was penniless; he held countless resources in his hands, and with the foresight of the future, the possibilities were endless.
Only by being strong enough could he fully prevent the same internal and external troubles that occurred in the past.
Moreover, having received many hints from Xavier Quincy in Glanburn, he understood that they needed to work together inside and out to solve tricky problems.
In this life, he couldn’t allow Ashley Shaw to have any hidden dangers.
Just as he was about to draft a detailed plan, his phone chimed with a notification.
Picking it up, he saw it was a message from a friend of Ashley Shaw at university.
The message was simple: "Are you there?"
Anything involving Ashley Shaw was never a small matter.
Warren Prescott set his pen down and quickly replied, "I’m here, what’s up?"
Evelyn Vaughn, worried that Warren Prescott might ignore her, felt inexplicably happy to see his prompt reply.
Although she didn’t know whether it was because of Ashley Shaw or purely because it was her that prompted such a quick response, a handsome guy with money and looks replying so fast was inevitably delightful.
Steadying her emotions, Evelyn Vaughn swiftly typed a line.
"Classmate Prescott, are you really Ashley’s fiancé? I asked her, and she said she didn’t have a fiancé. Did you two have a fight or is there some misunderstanding?"
