Chapter 478: Chapter 478: Warren Prescott’s Apology
Jensen Hayes saw her action and couldn’t help but ask, "Why are you taking pictures?"
"I’m just trying to find out what this ’classmate’ is all about! You know, with all the investments and having the main actor dine with us, they must be someone significant!"
As Jocelyn Hayes spoke, she sent the license plate to one of her mom’s subordinates to help check.
Jensen Hayes disapproved.
"Don’t have someone check. I thought you were worried about Ashley’s safety when you took the photo. They haven’t broken the law, so why investigate them?"
"Come on, brother! I swear your brain is made of wood! Did you waste all those years of study? Haven’t you heard of the saying, ’Know yourself, know your enemy, and you’ll never be defeated’?"
"But..."
Jensen Hayes wanted to persuade her but saw that Jocelyn had already sent it, so he could only hold his tongue.
But, he also had personal motives.
If it were someone else, even if Jocelyn had sent the message, he would have asked her to retract it.
His inherent integrity wouldn’t allow him to watch Jocelyn engage in such "abuse of power for personal gain."
Yet, when it came to matters of the heart, his integrity seemed... not to work.
The other side quickly sent the car’s information back.
Jocelyn Hayes almost rolled her eyes and fainted upon a glance.
"Brother, do you know who that person was just now?"
"Who?"
"The heir of Prescott Group, Warren Prescott!"
Jensen Hayes froze, suddenly lapsing into silence.
Warren Prescott... Prescott Family.
Even his grandfather was wary of the Prescott Family.
Although the Prescott Family has been in business for generations, the "people above" they know outnumbered even his grandpa, a military officer.
Originally thought it was just an ordinary rich kid, but turned out to be...
"Brother!" Jocelyn was anxious too, tugging on Jensen’s hand, "You have to think of a way! Such a person could easily steal Ashley away!"
But at this point, Jensen Hayes became calm instead.
"Didn’t you say they were classmates? If Ashley really had feelings for him, she would have been with him since high school. The fact that they’re not together now means she has no interest in Warren Prescott."
"What do you mean by no interest? You didn’t know, but not long ago, someone gave Ashley trouble, and even Elder Prescott stepped in to settle it! That means the Prescott Family is fond of Ashley too!"
Jensen was stunned again and asked about the details.
After hearing it all, his expression turned complicated.
Jocelyn observed Jensen’s demeanor and asked, "Brother, are you scared?"
Jensen Hayes said no, then added, "Unless Ashley rejects me, I won’t give up easily. So what about the Prescott Family? If Ashley isn’t willing, can they really force her?"
Jocelyn asked, "Then what are you going to do?"
Jensen Hayes simply said one word, "Pursue!"
He had almost finished mentoring the newcomers, and now with more free time, he could focus on his own affairs.
Jocelyn sighed in relief.
She worried her brother might back out upon hearing about the Prescott Family.
But upon reflection, there’s no chance of him backing out.
Her brother is the kind of person who is single-minded, and when he decides to do something, he dedicates himself to it.
Once in the car, Jensen Hayes said, "I have something... could you pass it to Ashley for me?"
As he spoke, he opened his palm, revealing a very exquisite medal.
Jocelyn took a look at it and found that it was the award her brother received for mentoring newbies during this period.
She disapprovingly asked, "Your first gift to Ashley is going to be this?"
Jensen Hayes uttered a noise of affirmation, "I originally planned to give it to her when we got to the school gate, but..."
"But girls wouldn’t like something like this."
Jensen Hayes moved his lips and said, "This is my intention. If she has even the slightest interest in me, she’ll understand my gesture. If she feels nothing for me, then I won’t disturb her."
To Jocelyn, the medal in her hand suddenly felt heavier.
She also understood that this medal was a test.
"I’ll help you see her reaction. But... if she really isn’t into you, will you give up?"
Jensen Hayes shook his head, saying, "I don’t know yet..."
"Alright! You, single since birth, will have to rely on me!"
Jensen opened his mouth, instinctively wanting to chide her for being disrespectful, but the words got stuck in his throat for some reason.
After all, he really has been single since birth.
...
On the other side.
Warren Prescott had dropped them off at the school entrance.
Ariana Grant, overhearing Assistant Lowell’s words to Ashley Shaw, wisely decided to leave first.
Ashley Shaw didn’t get out of the car but asked Warren Prescott in the passenger seat, "What do you want to say? Did you meet with Grandpa Prescott again?"
Warren Prescott smirked.
Is it really that... her eyes only have grandpa in them now?
But he couldn’t blame her. If anyone was to blame, it was himself.
Warren answered with another question, "What’s your curfew?"
"Nine-thirty."
Warren glanced at his watch and then said, "We have two more hours. Should we find somewhere quiet to talk?"
"Is it very important?" Ashley Shaw asked.
Warren affirmed with a sound, and Ashley nodded, "Then let’s find a nearby café."
"Alright."
Assistant Lowell promptly turned the car toward a nearby café.
Ten minutes later, the two were seated inside a café.
At this hour, there weren’t many people left, so the music inside nicely masked their voices, leaving no worry of someone overhearing.
Ashley Shaw was the first to speak, "What’s going on? You can say it now."
Warren Prescott raised his deep dark eyes, looked into hers, and had a thousand words to say.
But only after almost ten seconds did he finally open his mouth, "I’ve remembered."
Ashley had vaguely felt it since getting into his car.
During his amnesia, he was like a chatterbox, always having endless things to say, but today, since leaving the restaurant, Warren had been silent.
Such a contrast led her to the guess.
So when Warren said this, she wasn’t too surprised.
She simply asked, "When?"
"Last night."
Ashley’s eyelids twitched as she asked, "Last night, when you dined with us..."
"Back then, I hadn’t remembered yet. It was after returning home that I recalled."
Ashley had reverted to her usual composure, "It’s good that you’ve remembered. We can keep it hidden from Grandpa as well."
Warren, however, didn’t follow her words but asked, "Why did you hide it from me?"
Ashley knew what he was asking.
Why she hid it from him and eventually chose The Medical University.
Originally, she felt guilty, thinking he would be furious once he knew, as she wasn’t one to enjoy deception.
After a couple of seconds, she spoke, "I think you should know why."
Warren, gazing at her, said, "I know, I was a jerk before. But I want to sincerely apologize... and hope you give me a chance to reflect. I genuinely didn’t know you were framed in the swimming pool incident as a child. Because of that, I’ve always viewed you through tainted glasses, but I promise, from now on, I won’t."
