Chapter 847: Chapter 847: Your Jealousy Is Pointless
Seeing Sloane Hawthorne being so affectionate with Selena Kensington, Silas Sinclair was a bit gritted his teeth and said to Selena, "Can you, a married woman, have some self-awareness!"
Hearing the undisguised jealousy in Silas’s words, Selena raised her eyebrows slightly.
She glanced at Sloane standing beside her, then her lips curved into a smile.
A trace of arrogance laced her words, "Your jealousy is useless."
Silas Sinclair: "..."
Feeling frustrated by Selena, he could only turn his gaze to Sterling Norwood.
Unfortunately, upon receiving his gaze, Sterling firmly stood by his wife’s side.
"Looking at me won’t help you, either. You can’t even please your own wife. I can’t even be bothered to laugh at you."
"...You two are poisonous."
Silas, silently bearing the couple’s double blow, squeezed out this sentence.
And seeing that Silas indeed looked a bit pathetic, Sloane stayed by Selena for a while, then returned to Silas’s side.
Seeing Sloane back by his side, the expression on Silas’s face finally improved.
After the dinner party, Sloane and Silas escorted Selena and Sterling to the front of the Sinclair family mansion.
Selena waved goodbye to them, "You’ve been quite busy today too, get some rest."
Then she and Sterling got into the car.
Silas and Sloane stood by the roadside watching them leave before turning back into the Sinclair house.
*
After the Sinclair family’s dinner party, Sloane returned to work.
When March came, Grandma Jennings, who had been living with the Kensington family, suddenly mentioned she wanted to go back.
Selena was a bit surprised when she heard Grandma Jennings wanted to go back.
She made a special visit to the Kensington family.
"Grandma, why do you want to go back?"
She asked as soon as she walked into the Kensington house.
Hugh Kensington and Felicity Dalton happened to be helping Grandma Jennings pack her luggage.
And Grandma Jennings was sitting on the sofa watching them.
Seeing Selena come in, Grandma Jennings turned and looked at her kindly.
She said, "Your brother Timothy’s wife is pregnant with their second child. However, she’s been frail since childhood. The last time she had little Nora, she was at The Gates of Hell. Now this second pregnancy is ill-timed, and she doesn’t want to terminate it, so I need to go back and take care of her."
"Recently, you’ve been in good condition, and now that the Heavenly Master Power within you is quite strong, plus the Mayfield family is here, I feel like I don’t have much use."
Hearing Grandma Jennings’s words, a hint of surprise flashed in Selena’s eyes.
Selena had heard of Timothy having a wife and child, but never had the chance to meet them.
Now, upon hearing about the troubles faced by her cousin-in-law whom she had never met, Selena naturally didn’t insist on Grandma Jennings staying.
She nodded, "Then Grandma, you should go back and take care of her. Everything here is fine now."
Grandma Jennings came over, gently patted Selena’s hand, "These months have indeed been hard on you."
Selena smiled lightly, "Don’t say that, Grandma. After all, it’s my own child."
Grandma Jennings nodded, "You’re right."
Then she sighed, nostalgia in her eyes, "Before I leave, I want to visit your parents."
Hearing Grandma’s words, Selena’s gaze paused slightly.
Then she looked toward Hugh standing behind Grandma Jennings.
Hugh gave her a slight nod.
So Selena withdrew her gaze and warmly said to her grandma, "Grandma, the cemetery on the outskirts is on the same route as the airport. We can visit on the way."
Grandma’s eyes showed some relief, "That’s good! Good!"
Then Hugh drove, taking Grandma Jennings, Selena, and Felicity Dalton to the airport.
*
The cemetery on the city’s outskirts is indeed on the same road as the airport. Since it’s not the tomb-sweeping season, the cemetery was quite deserted, with only a few people around, making it feel particularly desolate.
Hugh led the group to the tombstone of Connor Kensington and Julian Jennings.
Hugh placed a bouquet of flowers between their graves and gently said, "Mom, Dad, we came to see you."
"It’s not just me and sis this time, Grandma came to see you too. I also brought your future daughter-in-law."
Selena and the others stood on the side listening to Hugh speaking softly, "Sis is over eight months pregnant, soon your grandson will be born..."
After saying a few words, Hugh stood up.
Upon seeing the young photos of Connor Kensington and Julian Jennings on the tombstones, the originally spirited look on Grandma Jennings’s face faded.
After Hugh stood up, Grandma Jennings slightly hunched over and sat beside the two tombstones.
"It’s been over ten years, and I can only see you now...it’s all Mom’s fault..."
Grandma started murmuring some things.
Seeing this, Selena and the others didn’t disturb Grandma but moved aside.
Selena took a deep breath of the air there. Due to the solemn mood of the cemetery, she felt a bit heavy-hearted.
Hugh glanced at her, frowning slightly, "Sis, are you feeling unwell?"
Selena gently shook her head, "No, just feeling a little oppressed by the atmosphere."
Hearing Selena say this, Hugh fell silent and didn’t ask further.
After Grandma finished talking, they once again set off to send Grandma to the airport.
Before leaving, Selena hugged Grandma tightly, somewhat reluctant.
Selena’s voice was a bit muffled, "Grandma, remember to be safe on the road."
Grandma sensed the slightly gloomy tone in Selena’s voice and lovingly patted her back.
She said, "You’re about to become a mother, and still acting so spoiled... Grandma will come back, though, to see when your child is born."
Upon hearing Grandma’s words, Selena’s earlier gloominess dissipated quite a bit.
She smiled again, "Alright then, Grandma, I’ll wait for you to come back."
Grandma waved to her.
Then Grandma turned to Hugh, "Hugh, you’re graduating early this year, aren’t you? You’ll be 22 next year, time to start thinking about marrying Quinn..."
"..."
Suddenly being mentioned, Hugh and Felicity exchanged a glance.
Then Hugh seriously told Grandma, "Don’t worry, Grandma, we won’t keep you waiting too long."
Hearing Hugh’s reply, Grandma nodded in satisfaction, "That’s good, I can rest easy and go back."
"It’s almost boarding time, you should go back!"
Hugh and Selena didn’t move, "Grandma, we’ll head back after we see you inside."
Hearing this, Grandma didn’t persuade further.
Instead, she spent a little more time with Selena and the rest.
After seeing Grandma go inside, Selena finally looked away.
She looked at Hugh beside her, "Let’s go. It’s time for us to head back too. Soon, I’ll be entering the pre-labour period, won’t have much energy left."
Walking beside her, Hugh and Felicity heard Selena say this, and Hugh chuckled.
