Chapter 767: Chapter 767: I Won’t Go With You

Cole Vaughn did not avoid her gaze this time, but straightforwardly admitted.

"Yes."

"I told you, the time you have to think it over is running out."

Selena Kensington frowned slightly.

She thought her stance was already clear enough.

Her gaze was fixed on Cole Vaughn.

"Alright, I’ll tell you here and now—I won’t be leaving with you."

From the very start, Selena never intended to leave with Cole Vaughn and the others.

Because she hadn’t forgotten those times when Sterling Norwood kept saying things that left her somewhat perplexed.

He said, don’t leave him.

He said, he would go mad.

Selena always thought she was the one lacking security.

But she never imagined Sterling had arranged everything that might make her insecure in a way that was reasonable and orderly, never allowing her to feel insecure about him. Yet in the end, she realized she had failed to provide Sterling with a sense of security.

Moreover, lately Sterling had grown increasingly lazy about concealing the cool menace and deep possessiveness in his eyes when facing her.

And Selena also never showed any sign of resistance or fear towards him, to reassure him.

She wanted him to be completely at ease.

Therefore, there was even less possibility of Selena leaving with Vaughn and the others.

Though she did want to know what exactly The Godsbane Organization was doing, and wanted to know what sort of infatuated character Vincent Sinclair had been.

And she wanted Esther Jennings and Vincent Sinclair to meet again.

Even if Esther could no longer recognize Vincent.

Selena took a deep breath and continued, "I admit, I’ve gotten to know you all better over this period, but that can’t be a reason for joining you. I understand your actions but I can’t agree with them." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

After Selena last questioned Cole Vaughn in Lynn Rhodes’s office, she went home and thought for a long time.

Perhaps Vincent Sinclair did forcibly seize descendants of the Fell Bloodline.

But most who joined The Godsbane Organization did so voluntarily.

Each of them probably had a past they were unwilling to talk about.

Selena respected their choices and their pasts, so she maintained the necessary respect for Vaughn and the others, never directly exposing their affairs.

But that didn’t mean she stood on their side.

She was caught between two ends, standing at the balancing point in the middle.

If she leaned slightly, the whole situation might change.

So every step she took became cautious.

"If you leave now, I won’t tell anyone about today’s events. Next time we meet, let’s still be enemies."

Selena’s gaze was clear, her eyes were honest.

Janine Linton and Ethan Linton exchanged a glance, then silently walked into the laboratory behind.

Cole Vaughn’s lips pressed tightly, showing his somewhat unpleasant and suppressed emotions.

His gaze was muddled, a void of dead silence, as if light couldn’t penetrate.

"Is he worth such longing for you?"

Cole Vaughn suddenly spoke.

Selena paused.

Then unhesitatingly nodded, "Yes."

Cole Vaughn’s lips barely twitched as he uttered words tinged with sarcasm, "If not for the Norwood Family and the Rivers Family’s interference, you’d have been taken back by us already."

After he said this, his hand unconsciously clenched into a fist at his side.

Selena frowned, "Cole Vaughn, there’s no ’if’ in reality. You just don’t want to admit the truth. I won’t join The Godsbane Organization, no matter what."

As she finished speaking, she was slightly taken aback seeing Cole Vaughn.

Because she saw a flicker of light gradually appearing in his once dead eyes.

A glimmer of persistence.

He seemed very persistent about taking her back.

"You..."

Selena spoke up uneasily.

She remembered how she used to describe Cole Vaughn.

A man who only consumed his own life.

He had no interest in anything, nor would he.

He seemed to wander through life, wasting the years.

Before, Vaughn’s eyes had been filled with deathly silence, devoid of vitality, let alone any other expressions.

But now, unexpectedly, a rare persistence appeared in Vaughn’s eyes.

Selena thought she was seeing things and glanced several times.

Only then did she confirm that the persistence in Vaughn’s eyes was real.

"I must take you with me today."

Cole Vaughn avoided Selena’s gaze and spoke in a low voice.

Hearing Vaughn’s words, Selena’s eyes darkened.

"You intend to fight?!"

Vaughn didn’t reply, but Felicity Dalton’s sudden move beside him was his answer.

Felicity’s movements were swift, and Selena instinctively backed away a few steps.

Her hands moved faster than her mind, with her fingertips emitting specks of gold, quickly forming a talisman in mid-air.

"Go."

Her brows furrowed sharply, carrying a hint of cold disdain for all creation.

Both Vaughn and Felicity paused, wholly unprepared for Selena to wield the Heavenly Master Power.

Especially Felicity—who had intended to knock Selena unconscious and take her away—never expected the talisman to ’see’ her, appearing instantly before her and swiftly merging into her body.

"Ah!..."

Felicity cried out in pain.

Her movements halted as well.

And she stopped just as she was about to grab Selena’s arm.

Felicity retreated a few steps in pain, a pained expression on her face, clutching her abdomen.

Selena breathed a small sigh of relief and raised her hand to wipe the cold sweat from her forehead.

Thankfully, she had been learning the talismans Esther Jennings taught her, and combined with her talent and insight, she quickly mastered them.

Otherwise, before long, she would have been defenseless.

She looked at Felicity, "This is just a curse technique that will make your abdomen feel like it’s burning with fire. It will dissipate in a few minutes."

This curse wouldn’t have any negative effects on Felicity; it might just stop her attacks.

After speaking, she no longer looked at Felicity but turned her gaze to Vaughn.

"Are you going to fight me too?"

Her voice was mild, yet carried an undercurrent of frost.

Even her brows were covered with a layer of ice.

This was her first time invoking Heavenly Master Power for talisman crafting—fortunately, these talismans were the nemesis of the pseudo-entities.

Under her gaze, Vaughn shook his head slightly.

"I won’t raise a hand against you."

His tone was mild as he spoke, but Selena could tell he meant it.

Selena felt a vague emotion stir within at his words.

She was about to speak when a loud rotary noise filled the air.

"!!..."

Selena instinctively looked up.

She saw a helicopter slowly rising from behind the laboratory.
