Chapter 1244: Baseball? training!
He started to rethink his opinion about Reborn. Were they so stupid to put top-prospect warriors in a game, or did they just not care? Because.... Because they had much more powerful warriors at bay?
That second thought was chilling.
Reborn was not known for their military might. In fact, one may even say that it was their one weakness. But if this was any evidence to that fact, then it meant that everyone was wrong. Reborn had their warriors. They just hadn’t had any opportunity to show it yet.
Caliburn couldn’t help but think. How were these Maugnetics able to become powerful?
The Lionhearts had an entire army of swordsmen Maugnetics exactly because of one reason: their connection to the Order of the Heavenly Knights.
Both the Lionhearts and the Order benefitted from their arrangement of training.
Lionhearts youths would get sent into the Order to train with the other youths. Meanwhile, trainees from the Order would also get sent to the Lionhearts in order to train their mettle against seasoned veterans.
This arrangement allowed both parties to become much stronger, nurture young and seasoned talents alike.
This was the secret as to how they keep producing top prospects, why they had three Heavenly Knights in their family lineage.
All of them were raised through a tough training regimen: fighting against much skilled opponents every single day of the week. It was normal for youths to retain scars and broken bones because of how brutal the training could be.
Of course, this wasn’t a perfect system. Sometimes, a trainee couldn’t handle the intensity of the program. They would either retire on their own, or their body would retire for them. Sometimes, their lives would be forfeit before they had any chance to do any.
It was dangerous, but it was effective.
Caliburn knew that this was the only way for them to increase their strength. He would do it, even if he had to sacrifice a few of his lineage to do so.
But after seeing this... he was curious.
How did the Reborn athletes become strong Maugnetics? Clearly, they hadn’t been doing any intense training regimen like they had. Otherwise, Reborn would have built up a reputation of having a fearsome army.
They couldn’t practice amongst themselves. That wasn’t effective. It was like a snake eating its own tail. One would only improve if they were fighting against unfamiliar opponents.
So... how did these Rebornians become powerful?
Caliburn could tell the difference. His Lionhearts soldiers were powerful because of the scars and the trauma they faced during their training. Their experiences let them become hardened warriors.
However, these Rebornian Maugnetics were completely different. They didn’t have the same, intense look on their eyes. It was as if they hadn’t faced any hardship in their lives as of yet. They were pure.
He wasn’t saying that they were weak. On the contrary. These Rebornians were overflowing with talent. In fact, it was the very reason why they were so powerful.
They had the talent. Their pure aptitude allowed them to forego the training.
The Lionheart soldiers were like a large flame, born from the cindering embers of wood and other flammable materials.
However, the Rebornians were like the stars. From far away, they looked weak. They looked completely dim compared to the flames on the hearth.
But if one were to look closer at a star, really up close, then they would see the difference. They would see that the stars were actually burning balls of flames.
And these stars weren’t growing bright because of any fuel. Their own bodies were fuel. They were burning bright simply because that’s who they were! Natural talent!
Caliburn couldn’t believe it. Were these Rebornians simply that talented? So talented that they didn’t need any kind of training at all?
But still, that didn’t make sense. Yes, in terms of skill, one could forego training if one had sufficient enough talent.
However, being a Maugnetic was a completely different thing entirely. GodForge pieces were not that susceptible to talent. They required stimulation. They required to be used to the utmost intensity in order for them to grow.
And judging from these baseball athletes, it seemed that they had been able to do that.
Most of them were in the 3rd to 5th stage of the Body Formation realm. A remarkable feat. Even some Upper Echelon companies struggled to create 30 Maugnetics in the 5th stage. However, Reborn was able to do it with 50.
It was at this point that Caliburn realized that there was something different to Reborn.
Perhaps, there was a reason why Eldea chose this company. Why she was so insistent in having a relationship with them through a student.
And if Caliburn was going to be honest, he was starting to feel that way too.
"Patriarch... this place...."
Caliburn just nodded. "Let us depart. Miss Lami, please lead us back to the Rebornian palace. I would like to meet with your leader now."
The Satyr attendant nodded. But just as they were about to turn away, a few of the Lionheart youths couldn’t help but stomp their feet in annoyance.
"I don’t want to go there! I want to stay here! This place looks fun!"
"Me too! Me too!"
"Grandpa, could we please stay and watch the whole game? This baseball looks fun! And those baseball players are so cool!"
Caliburn thought for a second before nodding his head. These children were not warriors. Not yet. They would need a year or so before they started their formal training with the Order of the Heavenly Knights. So, they didn’t need to be in serious conversations and could simply enjoy their time here in the Parched Lands.
"Alright. Arthur, keep them company," he said to his most talented grandson.
Arthur had no choice but to bow his head.
The Lionheart children rejoiced before taking the seats that Lami reserved for them.
Caliburn and his soldiers then departed the stadium, leaving for the Rebornian palace.
In the meanwhile, the Lionheart children enjoyed the baseball game. And in their enjoyment, they made friends with some kids on their side.
"Hey! You want to join us at the rollercoaster?"
