Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Date (2)
The Head Elder’s grin was lingering for a long as he thought about a plan.
"Although we can’t act openly ourselves..." he said slowly, while his body was turning away from the chamber. "But tye world is large, and we have... ’resources’."
The other elders exchanged glances.
"You mean the test subjects?" One of them asked.
The Head Elder grinned even wider, "yes, contact the duke of the dragonis family. Let’s put his ’toys’ to the test."
___
Far from those scheming old elders, Adam was standing in a vast open training ground that was carved into the mountains.
It was ancient and massive, the air itself was filled with heavy draconic authority.
There were three figured who were standing before him.
And they were one of the strongest beings of the dragon faction.
The Dragon Emperor who’s called the "White Dragon", his great-grandfather.
He looked calm, unreadable but also overwhelming.
Kael Dravaeyn- The Reaper and Zoey Frostveil, whom were the people the emperor trusted the most.
His great-grandfather spoke up first. "You will be have a spar with them."
Adam didn’t hesitate to answer. "Understood.’
The Emperor’s gaze sharpened just slightly. "I know your strong, but you must learn to control that power."
There was a long pause before he continued.
"I have seen your power, right now your just using pure physical ability and strength to suppress opponents, you don’t have any technique or discipline it’s time to make you learn the basics."
Adam smirked fainly but understood the purpose of this.
"Yes, I’ll try."
___
The mountain arena started to tremble fainly as Adam stepped forward.
And just across him stood:
Kael Dravaeyn
Rank: SSS-Rank
Affinities: Darkness, Lightning
Darkness and lightning was a very dangerous combination.
It was fast, unpredictable and also lethal.
Kael just cracked his neck slightly, violet lightning was flickering across his arm.
"Let’s do this young heir, you’ve handled power before," He said. "Now let’s see you handle my speed."
___
Kael vanished from his position, there was no movement, he just disappeared.
He only left a streak of black lightning that cut across Adam’s vision—
BOOM!
Adam barely managed to block by rasing both his arms to block the attack in time.
The Impact sent him sliding back and he felt his arms feel a bit numb from the Impact.
"Damn, that stung a bit."
’Even with all my traits from my bloodline and physique I felt that, an SSS-rank awakened is that strong huh’ Adam thought to himself.
"You’re slow, pay attention." Kael said casually, as he was now behind Adam.
Adam flinched a bit and turned slowly, his eyes sharpened.
Kael started an attack again—
This time, it came from above.
The air was split by dark lightning—
Adam barely dodged—
But shadows started coiling around his leg mid-motion.
"Darkness isn’t all just about concealment," Kale said. "It’s all about control."
Adam found his leg locked just for a split second—
But that was enough.
Kael’s blade struck—
CLANG!
"Tch!"
Adam managed to block again by catching the blade with his hands but still got pushed back.
But Adam was still late.
Just a fraction too late.
Kael vanished again and reappeared infront of him, he delivered a kick to his ribs sending him crashing outside the arena.
"Argh.."
Adam stood up, and he groaned s bit from the pain.
’This is the fifth time I’ve felt pain from attack, I’m not the strongest yet.’
There were small burns marked across his arms, they were healing but slowly.
There was darkness residue lingering on his skin.
’So this is what it means to cross the border huh?"
Kael smirked when he saw Adam’s expression.
"Not bad, your physical strength really is astonishing. However you lack experience, you must learn to dodge and react instinctively."
Adam wiped the blood from his lip and smirked.
"Yeah, I’ll fix that."
High above the arena.
Aurelion von Athelion was watching the scene silently.
And just like that day one of the training ended.
Day Two
Adam was sparring with Kael again today.
This time however Adam was able to keep up with him to a certain extend.
But that’s only because Kale wasn’t even using half of his power in this spar.
It still served as important training fighting against an opponent whose many times stronger than himself.
Adam lost again but he learned something valuable.
Day Three
This time he wasn’t battling Kael and the battlefield felt... different.
It was colder and quieter.
And the one standing across from Adam was:
Zoey Frostveil
Rank: SSS-Rank
Affinities: Ice, Water
She just stood there, she didn’t take a stance or draw a weapon immediately.
"Come." She said softly, completely locked in.
Adam was the one who attacked first.
It was fast but it wasn’t too aggressive.
That’s when the ground beneath him shifted—
Water, then came ice.
This made him loose his footing and slipped.
His momentum broke, and he fell down face first on the now ice floor.
"..." Zoey looked at him with a blank expression, but a small smile was etched on her lips that didn’t register to Adam.
She then raised her hand slightly, a thin wave of water rose and then froze midair.
Adam regained his balance and started to lock in as well.
Ice wrapped around his legs creating ice skates, then wind started to flow around his skates increasing his speed.
Adam moved swiftly and smoothly on the ice and cut through the ice Zoey created.
But the shards didn’t fall down, they hovered in the air.
And then—
They moved.
This was Zoey’s speciality, Control.
The hundreds of ice fragments surrounded him instantly.
And each and every one of them was following him, reacting to his movements.
"You are wasting energy, your might have so much mana. Beyond the norm for even a dragon," She said calmly.
"You waste mana you don’t have control, and every motion you make... I already know."
Adam wrapped flames around his body.
He surged forward—
Breakthrough through Zoey’s formation of ice shards, but the moment he moved.
The battlefield started to shift again.
There was water beneath, ice above.
This was a restricted space.
He wasn’t being overpowered in any way.
Just being controlled.
Adam charged again, and his aura flared.
It covered the whole arena as the ice shattered around him.
He broke free, just for one moment.
’Now!’
[Teleportation]
He appeared in front of Zoey, his swords unstheated and descended.
Zoey stepped once, just once.
And his whole attack missed completely.
That’s when her sword touched his chest.
Adam just sighed slowly.
"You didn’t try to overpower me."
"No~" she said softly.
"I didn’t need to~"
___
The days passed through swiftly and it was now day 6.
And it was now both of them who stood before him bow.
Kael Dravaeyn and Zoey Frostveil.
"Try your best to survive." Kael said.
The fight has now began.
Lightning was exploding.
Water started to surge.
And darkness spread.
But this time, something was different.
Adam didn’t rush, didn’t make an impulsive decisions.
He stood still.
Nothing happened for a moment, then he moved.
Kael struck but Adam leaned in slightly, dodging the attack by a hairs breath.
He dodged by instinctive prediction, not just reaction.
Zoey started to shift the terrain, but Adam expanded his senses to cover the whole arena.
And then he moved, and stepped to where it would be stable, not where it was.
His eyes and senses were now tracking everything.
Patterns, flows, the intent.
"So your able to see it now," Zoey murmured.
Adam surged forward, and this time. It was not reckless.
He was forcing Kael back, barely though.
He then turned, deflecting Zoey’s ice shards mid-formation.
And for the very first time during this training, he was keeping up.
___
The training continued for a two more hours.
Adam dropped to one knee, he was exhausted.
But this time, he was smiling.
[Ding!]
[New Skill Learned]
[Passive Skill: Sixth Sense (S)]
[Congratulations host, you’ve learned a skill on your own for the first time]
"Now your interesting." Kael chuckled.
